Overall it was an awesome chapter, I loved it.

Eagerly waiting for the next one.

Thank you for reading and appreciating!!❤️

I hope I'll be able to give you a chapter you're hoping for. 🤗

thanks for writing this alternate track, I loved it, just wish that Kunal was this strong in the show to follow his heart

you have written very well, and I loved the small contributions of Kuhu in making things easier for her husband❤️

Thank you, Peace!!! Kunal isn't strong here either. I've just made him a little less impulsive and more of an overthinker. That's a trait of mine that I have added in. Also, the small contribution was a literal last minute addition. I needed the conversation to end between the brothers. At first, it was Kuhu instead of maami but Kuhu can be convinced to not interrupt. Maami has no competition.

Nice take aqua. I too feel Kunal needs time to come to terms with his new reality. It is Abir's way to push his POV (aakhir kiska beta hai 😆) but I think he's also noticing how the attitude of other people in the house is changing towards maasi and that's why he's trying to push Kunal into accepting her. But I agree that the way it was done in the show was the worst possible way for Kunal to do it! I'd love to see how you would show that.

Thank you, Daya!! I really hope they deal with the situation in the show and we get to see Kunal actually accept Parul and not just for the media.

In my opinion, the way Abir handled the situation was not just because of the attitude changes. I think he wanted Meenu's power to be challenged too and none of the family members would directly do that. This move just was his way of killing 2 birds with 1 stone.

Also, there were not really any changes in attitude. Most people anyway saw Parul as the house help. That's how she even saw herself (refer: Parul slapping Kunal scene). The only person whose attitude really shifted towards Parul was Nidhi Maami. She is too loyal to her Benba to support her sautan. She has since the beginning wanted to be BB's go to and now, there's actually a chance of that happening.

Good point about Nidhi maami. I liked the old one though who wasn't quite so vindictive, but you're right that she always wanted to be her right hand.

Regarding Abir and Meenu, yes they're moving towards a showdown there. But Meenu's power is hardly challenged with this - she already knows Kunal is moving towards accepting Parul and that he's on Abir's side with regard to Mishti. He's already threatened to expose her to the Maheshwaris. Maybe because it's done in public? Abir is right that is she had had an inkling, she would have made every effort for it not to happen, but there was too much collateral damage. I have too many conflicting views on this actually.

I wouldn't really call her vindictive. Nidhi is rather practical. She comes off as dumb but she is so not. Nor is she someone who has time to hate on people. If you remember the scene we were shown her conversation with Kaushal right before the break, where she kind of disowns Kunal, that gives us so much insight to her character. She is not someone who will spend her time and affections on people where she doesn't have anything to gain but she won't really spend time plotting against them either. She knows her place in the RV household and she knows that if she needs her voice to matter, she needs Meenakshi's backing. Also, the scene in the kitchen where Meenakshi dresses up as Parul, Nidhi doesn't come in until it's required. I just realised how this all sounds. I'm not saying that she doesn't care for the family members. She does. What she doesn't care for is drama and to be on the wrong side of things when all hell breaks lose. She is a happy person but she wants to be respected. I guess that comes from being made fun of every now and then.

Meenu didn't mind Kunal and Parul being close in the privacy of the house because she knew that Parul would never let Kunal disrespect her or consider Parul above her. She even created situations during KuKu's 1st wedding where Parul gets to perform rituals. She never took away Parul's share of happiness. But all of that shifted when Kunal 1. Chose Parul over Meenu to cut the ribbon, 2. Called her Maa, hence giving her the same place or even replacing Meenakshi in that moment. Also, the event being public helped Abir make sure that everyone knew that Parul and Meenu were equals rather than malkin-naukrani. That is the reason Abir wanted Kunal to accept the truth infront of everyone. In trying to quash Meenu's house of cards, he unwittingly put his brother at stake.

I'm not sure she doesn't like drama, she makes awkward comments with bad timing which does create drama (plot device, I know but still...). I've noticed before how she used to become quiet after Parul looked at her after some inappropriate comment, so it's not really a servant type issue with her. There was no affection, but there was some respect mainly because of Parul's closeness to Meenu. Contrast that to how she talks to Parul before RJVs go to Mishti's haldi. She heard some random bits of talk and decided to blame Parul for the sleeping pills and the way she behaved when Ketu went to Parul's side at that time. To some extent, Abir is right here that Meenu started using Parul as scapegoat and that's continuing. I think she's going a little off the rails here. She feels emboldened to do all this because of Meenu's treatment of Parul. For all her wanting to be Meenu's right hand, it was still Parul who made sure Meenu's haldi reached Mishti. Of course, it doesn't help that new DILs are coming in and getting haar and company - things no one even considered giving her or anyone in her family (and they are the original RJVs, based on our patriarchal system I mean).

Yes Kunal is also now in the firing range. Abir's reasoning probably is that Meenu has used this way too much and it has had maximum impact on his life. Kunal knows he walks a fine line between his mother and brother, so I think (or hope) that he's beginning to see when each is trying to influence him. In all this I just keep coming up with parallel's on how Abir is Meenu's son. She said Mishti-Kunal GD was all his decision and then kept trying to influence him to break it on his own. Abir said what he did was his choice and then tried to influence him to accept Parul. 😆 But still, Kunal is an adult and no one forced him to speak. I'm happy with how he dealt with the aftermath with both Meenu and Parul.

Meenu and Abir - I don't want to start this thesis, but I have to say I would love to see them go head-to-head.

I'm sorry I'm taking over you SS thread with these random comments. Feel free to ignore or PM your responses 😊

Chapter-3

Kuhu looked at Nidhi, Abir and Ketu’s direction and sighed, feeling relieved that Nidhi maami had been successful in taking Abir bro away from Kunal. What she didn’t understand was why Kunal looked like he wanted to run away from the conversation. She had never thought she would see the look of someone feeling suffocated on Kunal’s face, especially not when he was talking to his Bhai. She decided to assign the look on his face to being exhausted from the event. She was still looking in Nidhi’s direction to make sure Abir was still occupied so that she could give Kunal a glass of water and ask him if he was okay, when Jasmeet came with a sour look on her face.

Jasmeet: Kuhu! Tu yahaan khade khade sabki shaklein hi dekhti reh jayegi aur wahaan wo muhboli ghar ki maalkin ban baithegi!

Kuhu: Oh ho, Chachi! Ab kya hua?

Jasmeet: Kya hua?! Kya hua?! Ye lo ji! Main yahaan teri chinta kar rahi hoon aur tujhe pata bhi nahi hai tere aas paas kya chal raha hai! Udhar dekh!

Jasmeet pointed in the direction of the small in-house temple where Mishti stood there talking to Meenakshi.

Kuhu: Aap kya keh rahi hain, Chachi? Mere kuch samajh nahi aa raha.

Jasmeet: Kuhu! Wo muhboli teri saas ko makkhan laga rahi hai aur tu yahaan khade gharwaalon ko taak rahi hai. Agar tujhe iss ghar me apni jagah pyaari hai to teri saas ko tere alawa koi aur bahu yaad nahi honi chahiye. Unhe jab bhi kuch chahiye, sabse pehla naam unki zubaan par tera hona chahiye. Tu samajh rahi hai na?

Kuhu: Chachi, aap na bohot serials dekhni lagi ho. Ye kya daily soap waali advice de rahi ho? Aur Mishti bhi issi ghar me rehti hai to kabhi na kabhi to Maa se baat karegi na. Aap bhi na Chachi!

Parul: Kuhu beta!

Kuhu: Ji maasi!

Parul: Zara ye sharbat sab ko dene me meri madad kar do.

Kuhu nodded and was about to move towards the kitchen when Jasmeet held her hand.

Jasmeet: Meri baat tujhe abhi bhale hi bakwaas lag rahi ho par aise naukaron ke saath apna time din bhar bitaayegi tuto dheere dheere sab tujhe bhool jaayenge.

Kuhu: Chachi please! Maasi ke bare me baar baar aisa bolna band kijiye!

With that, Kuhu walked towards the kitchen to help Parul with the trays. As she walked towards the living room to serve the drinks to everyone, her mind was filled with Jasmeet and Meenakshi’s words which kept telling her that she was Parul’s daughter-in-law and how Parul was nothing more than a house help. She remembered how the camera team had told Parul to get out of the shot and how Mishti and Abir had reprimanded them saying that she was part of the family. The look in Abir’s eyes was what kept coming back to her and she was reminded of the conversation and the promise she had made to Parul and Abir.

Kuhu: Maasi ne mujhe tab defend kiya jab unhe koi zaroorat nahi thi, to ab mai kaise peechhe hat sakti hoon? Unhone hamesha mujhse acche se baat kari hai, humesha mera achha chaaha hai. Jasmeet Chachi unhe nahi jaanti. Wo iss ghar ke taur tareeke bhi nahi jaanti. Exactly! Unhe iss ghar ke bare me nahi pata na, isliye wo aisi cheezein bol jaati hain. Par tujhe pata hai, Kuhu! Iss ghar Maasi ki apni jagah hai. She is family! Yes! That’s what she is. She is family.

Kuhu set the tray down at the table and handed the glasses of sharbat to people sitting around on the sofas. She picked up the last glass to give to Kunal but she couldn’t find him anywhere. She asked Naanu and got to know that he had been sent to the room to rest.

_________________________________________________

After wrapping up things with her event team and saying her goodnights and sending off her family to their home, Kuhu reached her room to see Kunal sleeping. She closed the door quietly and tip-toed to the bathroom to change so as to not wake him up. She came out of the bathroom, tip-toed to the bed and saw the frown on asleep Kunal’s face. Kunal’s face was scrunched up with worry lines on his forehead. Kuhu lightly touched his forehead to smoothen the lines, and he seemed to calm down with his facial muscles relaxing slowly. She smiled slightly and turned around to set her pillow when suddenly, “Kuhu! Kahaan thi tum?”, and Kuhu jumped up with a small scream to find Kunal sitting up and rolling her eyes at her.

I really like how you've been keeping the characterization intact, because it makes this story so much easier to "see" in my head, if you know what I mean. I really liked that you included Kuhu's inner dialogue, and how she's fighting with herself internally about what Jasmeet said. I like how in your version though, Jasmeet's voice in her head didn't get the best of her. I just hope it stays that way!

And the cliffhanger you ended it on! "Kunal! #Horror!"

Maybe Kunal will ask Kuhu if he did the right thing, and she will have a word or two of advice for him? It would be nice to see Kunal confiding in Kuhu for a change, instead of asking literally everyone but her.

Please update this when you can! I love this story and how nicely you've built it up :)
