This is going to be a small rant.
Jab mandap saj hi gaya tha, to shaadi kara ke khatam karo na. We all know both of them are going to get married. Can they stop extending and delaying it? Ab to Big Ben bhi maan gayi. Just get it over with and move the story forward already.
We all know Mishbir are the main leads but the show is supposed to be about interpersonal relationships between family members and not just about these two who are inevitably going to be together. The back stories of all characters are so great. I mean, this is the first show where you ship brothers and friends and other relationships. Each character has so much potential for story development.
- Wouldn't y'all want to know what Kuhu calls Jugnu? Is it Jugnu or Jugnu bhaiya or does she have cool ass nickname for him?
- Where is Atul? Did he become an actor or did someone lock him in the office and forget?
- Did Abir ever click pictures for Atul's portfolio?
- Will Kunal ever not sleep while watching a rom-com with Ketu?
- Kya Ketu kabhi Kuhu ka business join karegi?
- Will Kuhu get to plan events for other people apart from her own family?
- Will Jasmeet's husband ever come to visit her? Dude didn't even come for his own son's wedding.
- Will Mishti ever make up with her Daadi who was supposed to come for the NishMish wedding?
- Will Kunal ever make a genuine effort towards Kuhu's family?
Leave all of that. What will happen to the app deal between Abir and Nishant? (Hawww😲!! Plothole!!!) Who is even running the company and the NGO? Sab to Mishbir ke peechhe bhaag rahe hai jab ki inhe football ke game me bhaagna chahiye tha.
DKP, please remember that your show is not about hardships and problems in a love story. That is a Balaji show called KZK2.
Wish I could like this post a hundred times! I do agree with everything & have been thinking along these lines for a long time now. Thanks for bringing this up & for making this post.
Each character, I repeat, each character in this show is interesting in its own way, and evokes viewers' imagination (at least, mine). Unfortunately, individual supporting characters are not well-etched out or developed at all, over the course of the storyline till now.
For instance, initially & even now, Meenu keeps putting her brother Koshlu down, keeps taunting & berating him, and always acts in a very high-handed, insulting manner with him. Nidhi mami was also big-time angry & upset with her benba ( when she got to know that benba was about to allow Ketki to get married to someone who was already married, even after mishti & kuhu told her that they suspected the groom of something fishy ).
Nidhi & Kaushal are sticking with Meenu as they're financially dependent on her, but they've never shown any signs of continued resentment that can be developed as a story arc for them. They could include the mama-mami's story realistically & make these characters grey, instead of just using them as mere comic fillers to eat up a couple of minutes only to drag the time. They could tone down Meenu largely; they don't have to make her so all-pervading that genuine issues of her being too over-bearing are not discussed at all by other characters apart from Abir. She can continue to remain as manipulative as she is now, but they also need to show others' reactions & thoughts to her behaviour.
I remember Nidhi & Kaushal very correctly pointing out that she chokes them out & had taken ketki's life's decision ( a very wrong decision, that too) without consulting her parents. But there was no follow-up to that scene. She does so many things like this & has been this way all along. Nidhi & Kaushal can be shown trying to get some control over their lives by asserting themselves at home & at office respectively. Their insecurities can be shown in a reasonable way. Same with Ketki & Atul; they can be involved in the main leads' story or be shown doing something in their lives. But alas, these are just showpiece characters.
I, for one, would love to watch tracks and scenes devoted to each & every point mentioned above by the topic maker here.
In fact, the parallel leads Kunal & Kuhu have such poor development that I feel sorry for all the potential going waste. Kunal has just now shown some development with regard to trying to understand his brother & his love. But in my humble opinion, his transition from "I know (or mom says) mishti isn't right for my bhai, so I'll blindly do what she says to separate them" to "mishti will be the one to find my bhai" could have been done in a better manner. Kunal could have been shown trying to realize that trusting meenu blindly isn't right & that his bhai will always be his bhai regardless of mishti. He could have then understood his brother's love & preferences (for anything in general, not just for mishti) & learnt to respect them & still not feel bereft of his bhai's love & support. Instead, they brought in his birth truth & he changed after that. In my opinion, that wasn't needed as he already had doubts & was slowly coming around even at the time of mishbir's breakup. They could have built that up.
KuKu relationship needs to progress big time now. Kunal should have been shown in a big moral dilemma while he was lying to Kuhu & manipulating her before their marriage. He should have felt extremely conflicted for using her to separate mishbir all along the process 'cause he's not inherently evil; just wants his bro with him & does wrong things in that endeavour. That sort of introspection would have led to better character development of Kunal. We did get few dialogues like that but then again no progress.
