@shen, I am making a sliiiightly different point however. Nishant is not obsessing over mishti. He is now questioning his confidence in making this marriage work ie the caution raised by his mum and cousin. Are they right in saying that mishti wont be able to commit to this rishta,

There concern is right. And anyone in his place will have the same doubts.

Exactly. So he isnt an obsessive lover (yet?). He is checking, one did he bite more than he can chew and more importantly is his friend falling into the same pattern of addiction that he is all too familiar with 💔

They should have kept him as her friend.. I can't even digest them as couple even as fake ones😆.. They are children of the same household.. They must have been brought up like brother and sister.. God knows what made writers think of this kind of an angle.. They could have brought another guy.. Lol

I agree with people saying its not nishants responsibility to take care of MA.they are at fault for their situation. However he knows how mishti feels about abir and he has seen with his own eyes now that they still are bonded so as a person in a third wheel like relationship why would you want to keep being in that relationship moreover he is gonna go to a woman to break them up that is plain wrong. He is meddling in that way negatively anyway so why not just depict him meddling to save their relationship? Thats a choice cvs chose to make and are ruining his character subsequently

Haven't seen the episode. But isn't he also meddling because he thinks Mishti will end up hurt again with Abir?

Is Nishant really grey, though? Or is it just that he took a proactive step against the leads' romance?

The moral compass on this show has always been heavily skewed towards the leads. Any time they make a mistake, someone else's mistake is blown out of proportion so they look like victims. It's been the MO of the writing since day one, so if they do throw Nishant under the bus (which I'm still not entirely certain they will), it won't be a surprise. On this show, anyone who is in support of the leads' romance is "positive" and anyone who is not is either "grey" or "negative." We must simply forget that other characters might have motivations, feelings, and an internal logic of their own.

The thing that most disappoints, and in fact scares me, about this so-called "redemption" of Abir is how it plays fast and loose with the concept of consent. The same Abir who once quoted Pink to Shweta and reminded her that "na ka matlab na hi hota hai," is now refusing to take no for an answer. And Mishti (with her dreams of Abir being dismissive to her family and rescuing her) is complicit in this dangerous game of "no means yes." It was not Abir's place to defend Mishti at the temple, when she and the family have explicitly told him to stay away, and it is incredibly careless to show this as some grand, romantic gesture. And what did Nishant see after that? Abir holding onto Mishti's hand while Mishti begged him to let her go.

In today's episode, Nishant compared Abir to a drug for Mishti, and I think from what he has seen that is actually an accurate assessment. Nishant came back to India with an open mind about Mishti and Abir's relationship but what he saw mirrored addiction very closely. Mishti showed unhealthy dependence, lied to her family, kept insisting that one hit would solve everything, came back increasingly broken each time, but always insisting that the next hit would do the trick. Nishant has been through this with drugs, and he's essentially treating Mishti like a friend who has asked him for de-addiction support.

The decision Nishant made today is certainly debateable in terms of circumstantial vs. absolute morality, but in my books, it's far more defensible than Abir's harassment (yes, once the individual has said no, it IS harassment). Eventually, Nishant will realise that Mishti was lying to him as well -- she wasn't really sincere about quitting -- but until then, all I see is a friend who is doing everything in his power to protect someone he cares about from going down the same path he did.

Hey Malika, it's great to see you too! I've been well. How long have you been watching the show? I followed Shaheer here, got pretty disappointed in the leads early on so don't post much on the forum. I kept watching for all the other characters and the layered story so it was great to see your post among some more diverse discssion!

I started watching in the in the first week then got bored lol. But I pick it back up from time to time. To be honest... the overall plot has been better than I expected. I feel like the Kunal-Mishti conflict evolved in a very organic way. I also generally like the MishBir relationship. For instance, I really enjoyed the scene where Abir asks for Mishti's rishta to BP. I thought that was beautifully done. So I was sad to see the relationship degrade the way it did. More than anything it really bothered me that he didn't listen to her and was quick to assume the worst. So now this reconciliation feels unearned. But I do agree the other characters are interesting.
