Chapter 2: It’sOver!

~Kunal settled down in his business class seat, as he waited for all the other passengers to board the flight, since the flight was 7 hours long, he pulled out his phone and started scrolling through his apps. He debated between a business today podcast and music time app. He could hear Kuhu’s voice in his head ‘borrrriiinnng’ he smiled and clicked on a random music playlist. His body tensed as he heard the next song,the song that Kuhu always hummed, it was her all-time favorite song and she had mentioned it to Kunal a million times.

Sajde mein yuhin jhukta hun

tum pe hi aake rukta hun,

kya yeh sabko hota hai,

Khuda jaane ke mein fida hun

Khuda jaane ke mein

He could hear Kuhu humming this song in his head and he started to become easy as memories of time spent with her flashed in his head.

Flashback

“Yeh kya kar rahi ho?”Kunal asked, “main pooch raha hun yeh kya kar rahi ho?” Kunal asked again,grabbing her arm and turning her face towards him.

“kya lag raha hai tumhe, I am packing my clothes” Kuhu snapped at him, turning back towards the cupboard.She grabbed a handful of her dresses, and placed them in her bag that was open on the bed. Kunal watched her contemplating his next words.

“Kyun… abhi toh paanch din hai” He said. “TOH?..... rishta aaj tute yaa paanch din baad what difference does it make, Kunal?” Kuhu asked infuriated, pausing for a second to look at Kunal.

He just looked at her,he had no answer.

“Aur waise bhi tum toh mujhe shaadi waali raat se hi waapis bhejna chahte the, mujhe yeh 3 mahine deneke liye Thank you, likin I can’t do this anymore Kunal, mein yeh jhuta rishta nahi nibha sakti. I can’t keep hurting your or my family like this. Unhe lagata hai ki hum koi perfect couple hain”.Kuhu softened her tone, as she felt tears welling up in her eyes, it was not the time to breakdown.

“I can’t keep lying to them isliye mera jana zaroori hai, aur tum bhi toh yahi chahate ho na” She paused not knowing why, was she expected him to stop her? why would he? when Kunal didn’t say anything she continued, “Maine divorce agreement sign kar ke Priya ko de diye hai”.

Kunal was a little taken back by Kuhu’s behavior he didn’t know how to react did he want to stop her? but why was he in love with her? He didn’t know, this was all so confusing.Before he could muster up any words. Kuhu walked up to him, with her bag, she handed him her engagement ring, “Yeh lo, ab tumhe iss jhute rishte aur mujhe jhelna nahi padegea, It’s over” walked out of his life just like that. Kunal watched her until she was out of his sight and then he looked in his palm

She zipped her bag and lifted it off the bed, walking up to Kunal she handed him the divorce papers that she had signed. “Yeh lo, ab tumhe mujhe jhelna nahi padegea, Its over Kunal, It’s over”. She looked at him, her and walked out of his life just like that.

Flashback ends

Kunal woke up to ‘It’s over’ Kunal ringing is head, he hadn’t realized when zoned out of present went into the past. He felt his eyes well up, he sat up straight and rubbed his eyes. It had been over a month, but he could still clearly remember that moment, Kuhu’s face, her words, how he felt uneasy each second as he realized that she was really leaving. It was that day when he was left all alone with only her thoughts, his room reflected the emptiness that he was feeling inside him. He realized that she was indeed a rainbow, his rainbow.

He had gone to visit her a few times, but her family members wouldn’t let him anywhere near her,they weren’t rude about it, just protective and he understood, he had hurt her so much. Even Abir was protective, he had asked his bro for help, but Abir had declined, he said he has promised Kuhu that he would never tell Kunal anything about her.

Kunal pulled up a pic of Kuhu on his phone.She looked just like a rainbow, his rainbow full of colors and life. “I know Kuhu, this is not the end of our story, mein itni asani se haar nahi manuga”Kunal said to himself. If only he knew where she was.

The plan will be landing at Heathrow Airport; local time is 1:00pm. The announcement brought Kunal out of his thoughts. He looked at his watch, his meeting was at 5:00pm and he was hoping to catch the early morning flight back so he could go back to his search for Kuhu.

~ “Hurry up, please set the snacks on the table over there and make sure that there are water bottles on the conference table” Kuhu yelled at her assistants who were helping her coordinate this meeting. It was actually a two in one occasion, there was a corporate meeting as well as a company get together to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the company.

She looked around, proud of her work, she was super excited this was her first event in London.
