Part 1

“All i know is this: when i am with you i feel completely alive. When i am with you i get a feeling which i can never get anywhere else. When i look into your eyes, i feel an unusual serenity. When i talk with you i feel a beautiful calmness that engulfs me. I feel i have reached my destination. And when i hug you, i feel home!”

― Avijeet Das

We human beings never like to talk about our pain. It’s an emotion that is common to all of us. One of my favorite characters from the DC universe ‘the Flash’ said “No matter how rich you are no matter how fast you are you can never outrun pain”. We all have different ways of dealing with our pain. Some of us like Mishti let it all out cry for a bit and then dust ourselves and get back up and go on with our lives. Some like Kuhu bury their pain and emotions behind the façade of a fictional life on social media. Their hashtag and story game is lit but no one can grasp what’s really beneath all that makeup and glamour. Some like Kunal refuse to acknowledge that they can grieve and instead only resort to displaying one emotion that is anger. We do have a considerable amount of people like this in real life who tend to give their pain to other people both by physical and mental abuse. Finally, some of us are like Abir who bury their pain so deep within themselves that it becomes a part of them. They are the most cheerful people you would ever meet always trying to crack a joke , always trying to make other people smile. It’s like they are the joker with a permanent smile plastered on their face which kind of becomes like their mask but as one of my other favorite characters from the DC universe said

“You wear a mask for so long that you forget the person you are underneath the mask” Batman

To the world and his family Abir is a carefree, happy go lucky guy who bends the rules in his favor and doesn’t live by the norm. Hence, his Nanu calls him gadhea(donkey) his Maa laments that he does not take up his actual responsibilities his sisters looks up to him and his brother believes that he is a gullible soul who only knows how to paint and do other basic, small things. In short apart from Ketu no one believes that Abir is the quintessential good son of the family. He wears so many masks, plays so many roles and yet in a family full of people he still feels alone. In front of his own family he still feels the need to guard his true emotions. A person is supposed to be real in front of their family instead he choses to conceal his pain.

Jo dard chupana chahte hai

Vo dard par pehra rakhte hai

Padh lena koi gam chehre pe

Chehre par chehra rakhte Ha

Apno ke khaatir apno se

Karni padti aiyari hai.

Misthi has been the only person who has seen through his mask. She is the only one who has bothered to check up on him. Remember their first ever Mandir scene. Where Abir tells her that she needs to let go of her past that day she also told him “Tum apnay baba ko yaad kar kay itna sad mat hua karo” Abir instantly goes quiet and then changes the subject. On another occasion when Kekti’s marriage breaks and Mish can’t seem to contact him since he doesn’t have a phone for the first time ever she sneaks out of her room. He is at the camp site lamenting about his dad as a past memory assaults his brain. Young Abir is pleading with his dad to stay back but his dad doesn’t listen with tear stricken eyes Abir says “Baba agar aaj aap hotay na toh yay sab nahi hota. Kidar hain aap Baba aap wapis kyun nahi ahayi” than he recites another beautiful shayri

“Peechay say awaaz mat dena

Hua khel khatam banjaron ka”

Right on cue though Mish keeps a comforting hand on his shoulders and he just melts into her embrace and hugs her. The day he gives her his first genuine compliment “Tum awesome ho” because this girl decided to venture all alone at night just to check up on him. At this point they had just become friends but not only Mish makes him laugh and forget his worries that day but she even deliberately loses a race for him. From that day we get to know that when it comes to Abir, the strong, bold Mish is willing to give up on things just to please him.

Episode Part Analysis

Now let’s dig in to my favorite scene from the today’s episode. The scene starts with Mish standing near the window. Both of them are still in their wet clothes and Abir comes up to her and hands over her glasses that he so gently removed in that oh so gorgeous Iktara scene.

“Misthi, Sorry agar mainay tumhay uncomfortable feel karaya” he apologizes for making her feel uncomfortable. Really Abir why do you keep on raising my standards of an ideal man. We don’t see an MCP ML who like to dominate and manhandle the FL here we see a ML who actually cares about a girls comfort and actually asks for forgiveness. Both these babies are so pure and soft they don’t have any ego between them. In return Mish apologizes for coming to his room without his permission and he goes like are you mad girl like don’t even go there. You already have my heart, room is such an inconsequential thing in front of that. He however, goes on to tell her how he always used to celebrate this festival alone as sometimes even Kunal wouldn’t come but this time she was there and now with her he doesn’t feel alone rather he feels that from now on she will always be there by his side celebrating the festival with him.

“Har saal main Ganesh Utsav akelay bana ta kabi kabar toh Naanko bhi nahi aha ta lakin iss baar tum thi aur mujhay aisay feeling ho rahi hain kay abb kay baar har baar utsav par tum meray saath ho gi”

Notice how his voice is almost choking and how his eyes are betraying him. He says all that but Mish can see through his mask. She goes like “ Abir baat kiya hain” she asks him to tell him the actual thing that’s bothering him.

“Yay festival meray liay bohot bohot special hain” notice his voice modulation here with so much reverence he says that this festivity is very special to him.

She knows why “Kyun kay Ganesh Utsav tumharay Baba banatay thay” because in Champanar he saw how hard Abir had worked to construct his father’s dream school. These both always astound me on the way they are able to understand each other. Do you all remember how Mish never told him about Naman and her family history but somehow Abir was able to connect the dots similarly Abir has always been so tight lipped about his Baba yet this girl still knows the importance his father has in Abir’s life.

“Who har saal aik choti si murti banatay thay… 11 day tak pooja hoti thi aur uss kay baad vissargan mujhay nahi pata tha kay aik din vissargan kay baad Bappa kay saath saath Papa bhi chalay jayay gay Bappa toh har saal wapis aha jatay hain par Papa kabi nahi wapis ahayay. Uss kay baad Maa nay ghar par Ganesh ji ki stapna karnay say mana kar diya lakin main phir bhi har saal kisi na kisi bahnay say yay utsav bana hi layata tha. Yaar I really miss Papa bohot yaad aha ti hain kabi kabi un ki”

Notice how in the start with child like innocence Abir explains how he and his father used to celebrate the festival but than his voice drops an octave as he tells her that one day his father just left and never came back due to which his Maa stopped celebrating the festival but he never did. He still celebrates it as this makes him feel connected to his Baba remember how in last episode he said “That Baba nay mujay aap say milwaya tha aur mujay yakeen hain kay aik din aap hi mujay Baba say milway gay”. Then his mask slips completely and we see the small child who yearns for his father’s love. He tells her that he really misses his father and in this scene Shaheer Sheikh literally made me cry. Such amazing acting. Rhea Sharma is equally good even without a few dialogues whenever the camera pans to her you see how intently Mish is listening to his every word and how she seems to connect with his pain. She knows he is overwhelmed so she moves ahead and places both her hands on his hands and urges him to talk about his father.

“Apnay Baba kay baray main aur batao na” notice on how a small smile graces Abir’s face here because no one has actually given his them liberty to talk about his father. His Maa has always silenced him by citing that Kunal will be hurt and even Naano and Kaushil once said that he should just forget and move on from his Baba’s topic but here is this girl who wants him to talk about his Baba. No wonder he loves her so much. It’s like a dam breaks as Abir goes on to explain about his father and the lessons he learned from him. He tells her how he really used to believe in Ganpati Jee and than we see a flashback of chotu Abir with his dad who is explain him about God. The whole monologue is beautiful as Abir’s father tells him how God never shies away from bestowing His blessings on His followers and how He always reassures His followers that He is there and how in spite of being all mighty and powerful He still uses his mouse as his aid.

“Buray log buray adatay yay hi who rasi hain jo humay pakray rakh ti hain Abir” My god these dialogues how true they are we humans are always trapped by the evil around us and the evil within ourselves. Through this we get to see how sorted Abir’s father is which makes me wonder why did he actually leave?

“Mujay kehtay thay Abir tumhay unhi ki tarah ban na hain sab ki madad karni hain sab kay cheary par khusi lay kar ahani hain unho nay mujh say yay sab kaha toh sahi par bina sikhaya chalay gaye” all his philanthropic values were instilled in him by his father. He laments how he never taught him these things but the fool doesn’t realize that how how much of an affect his father actually had on him. The NGO those awards I am sure when Abir and his Baba meet his Baba will be proud of the man Abir has become. Notice though how one thread is common Abir is still stuck on how his father left him “Chod kar chalay gay” the little boy has never gotten over that pain. Mish places her hands right above his elbows silently reassuring him that she is here for him. Rhea’s expression here the way Mish gulps and looks tearfully but firmly at her man was amazingly portrayed. Suddenly he realizes that he has let his mask slip and he instantly puts it back on.

“Okay you… you go now. Humay kisi nay saath dekh liya toh” he tells her that she should go as someone might see them together. This is what he has always done push people away because he so very afraid to let them in. He is scared because than he will hope the person he let in would stay with him forever but when his dad left he realized that people always leave. Hence, he decided never to share his pain he never let anyone in until his angry chorni just waltzed into his life and now she refuses to budge.

“Nahi Nahi Abir tum theek nahi ho” She tells him that boy please I know you ain’t okay so I am not going anywhere.

“Humaray baray main koi jaan ta nahi hain” he fake smiles

Misthi than tells him that Kunal knows.

“Kunal jaan ta hain” Yass our girl too is finally telling Abir stuff. Abri is shocked and asks her how does she know and Mish remembers her last conversation with Kunal and says that she thinks that Kunal is doubtful about them.

“Abir I think tumay uss say baat kar lainay chaiyay” she tells him that he should have the talk with his idiot little bro.

“You are right iss say pehlay koi ussay kuch aur kahay mujay khud baat kar lainay chaiyay” He agrees with her.

The next scene is my favorite Mishbir hug ever. As Mish is about to leave he grabs her and wraps himself in her embrace. Notice on how this hug is different.

Here Abir is holding on to her for dear life. Mish is on her tippy toes as she nuzzles his head with her and notice her hand on his back she lightly keeps on patting him trying to reassure him that everything will be fine and she is here for him. Notice the sukoon/contentment on his face because you know you are in true love when you don’t hesitate from showing your vulnerability in front of his partner.

To sum up this part. Remember how Abir once said:

“Ghar woh hota hain jahan chot aik ko lagay aur dard sab ko ho”

Here Mish is truly showing that she is his pyara sa ghar as she is willing to share both his pain, his sorrow and his happiness with him.

Abir once said “khaas hain itna yun samjho ke ghar pe ana jaana hai, dard...dard toh dost purana hai and here Mish is showing him that “Saach toh sirf pyar hain saathi”

Remember how Abir said “Yay kon chala hain dheeray say ahahat ka rang sunehra hain”

Well now “ Dabey paon gham saaray mujho ko chod kar jaatay hain .. tab mujh ko khabar hoti hain shahid tum ahanay wali ho”

The love Mishbir has is beyond anything I have ever seen on ITV. Words truly fail me when it comes to them.

Dard Mere Woh Bhula Hi Gayaa

Kuch Aisa Asar Huaa

Jeena Mujhe Phir Se Woh Sikha Raha

Hmm.. Jaise Baarish Kar De Tar

Yaa Marham Dard Par

Koi Mujhko Yun Mila Hai

Jaise Banjare Ko Ghar

Part 2

“Good men don't become legends," he said quietly.

"Good men don't need to become legends." She opened her eyes, looking up at him. "They just do what's right anyway.”

― Brandon Sanderson, The Well of Ascension

Every day I think that Abir Rajvansh as a Male lead has surpassed all the characters I have come across in books and in movies but every day this guy just keeps on raising the bar. It’s sad that we live in a world where majority of the people are like Kunal who don’t refrain from mocking a woman in public who rarely flinch when they man handle a woman and if we are lucky we can rarely come across human specimens like Abir who value a woman’s honor more than anything else.

Let’s dig into the second half of the episode. All the elders of the family are discussing on how now its time for BB to pass on her responsibilities to both her sons. BB thinks that in terms of Abir’s dad fiasco she might have waited too long to take an action. That scene was actually were endearing because BB is leaning on her dad for support. Naanu tells him that now she needs support he suggest to give Kunal and Kaushil more work and BB goes like how Abir is supposed to shoulder her responsibilities but he doesn’t even talk to her . Naanu tells her that he will talk to Abir. “Abb ussay ghar wapis ahana hi padhay ga” this ultimatum makes me wonder if these people really know Abir. Once again BB and fam are making the decision for him that he needs to take over the family business no one bothers to mention that they need to ask Abir wants out of his life. No wonder the boy feels alone and conceals his pain. The way BB says “Main kabi haar nahi maanu gi” reminds me of Kunal both these characters are so stubborn its like they want everyone to conform to their wishes its either my way or the high way. Even Parul was like “Abir ko samjahy gay kay who Ben Baa ka saath day” well has anyone ever supported Abir has anyone ever tried to help him in his quest to find his father? Naanu ominously says how this festival always brings a tough couple of days for their family. Mish is already at the pandal and has taken over all the preparations very similar to how she took over Abir’s exhibition. She has planned a surprise for Abir a sort of a flower shower while he is ding aarti. The bond Mish and NGO didi have is so cute she assures Mish that her surprise will work and that she will ask Abir to do aarthi. Just than Abir arrives but Mish avoids him citing that she has loads of word to tend to. Abir is surprised on how everything is already ready and he knows that Mish is behind all this.

“Mishti, meray peet peechay kia chal raha hain”

“Nahi tum kuch soch rahi ho na ya phir soch lia hain”

“Abir tum meray baray main kitna sochtay ho” Mish girl that’s so true homeboy is totally lattu on you

“Tum meray liay luch plan kar rahi ho right” He does know his chorni too well.

She asks him if she talked to Kunal and he tells her he hasn’t and she goes like karo gay bhi nahi and Kunal RV takes the cake for the worst timing ever as he only listens to this and he thinks that Mish is asking Abir not to talk to him lol. Kunal is such a gone case tbh .On the other side we learn that Abir inherits his Banjara habits from his dad because his Baba has officially udd chala from the hospital and now BB is scared that where will she look for him #likefatherlikeson. Abir calls Kuhu bhabi rofl where are all those people who thought couple swap would happen well now you know the actual ristha. Kuhu is her usual bubbly self taking selfies and ignoring the elephant in the room.Abir does aarti but Misthi’s surprise doesn’t work she asks the maintenance guy why it didn’t work and he is like no clue and Mish is like “Abir ko surprise dena meri qisamt main nahi hain” Aww baby her last surprise the bus/balloon proposal got ruined too. However, her boy Abir overhears her and cooks up a dangerous plan. Meanwhile Kuku have a movement that I am not too interested to cover. Best part though was when Kuku was like “Mishti kaha say beech main aha gaye” thank god Kuhu that you are finally asking the real questions. Misthi stands in front of God and she just takes my heart here as she silently prays for homeboy. Abir dude you are so lucky. “Aap kay saath Abir ka bohot special connection aap ussay uss kay baba yaad dilatay hain please ussay life main jo chaiyay day day jee agar who kisi sawal ka jawab dhoond raha hain toh ussay jawab day diay jee na please” Aww these two cuties right on cue the flower shower starts and oh ho plays.

“Abir..”

“Abb bhi yay kaho gi kay main sirf apnay baray main sochta hun”

“Abir tum kuch sochtay hi nahi ho” Aww why are they so cute she asks him to come down and than the rope almost breaks and Abir hangs on for dear life. Everyone is frantic but MCP kunal finally does something useful and saves his brother.

“Abir tum theek ho? The concern she has for him she was so rattled noticed on how she takes a look at his body trying to make sure that he is okay

“Hah main theek hu”

“Tumhay upar chadnay ko kis nay kaha tha”

“Arey tum chati thi na Bappa par phoolon ki baarsih ho” He tells her he did it for her and than MCP kunal just comes in and ruins everything. He legit manhandles poor Mish and calls her selfish and other blah blah stuff not worth mentioning . Best part was Abir going like “Kunal stop it” and when Kunal goes like “Get the hell out of here nikal jaon meri bhai ki zindagi si” the look of horror on bir’s face was pure gold his Naanko has finally grown up to be an arrogant git.

My take on Mish not speaking up and walking away silently:

Can the fandom cut Mishti some slack she just witnessed an emotional Abir who misses his dad she knows that Abir adores his bro out of respect of that bond she is not speaking up. She knows how desperately Abir wants her to get along with Kunal. Thoda sa kuch ho jayay and everyone jumps at the chance to call Mishti a Mahan FL. Well guess what for this episode only the dickhead Kunal deserves your criticism. Also going by the mahaan logic even Abir was mahaan when he chose to leave during Kusthi engagement track , even he didn't speak up in front of BP when he asked her to stay away from Mish. What makes #Mishbir unique are that they both are imperfectly perfect characters. Kunal is a nutcase who doesn't understand love and there is no point wasting your energy on trying to make people like Kunal see reason. If Mish had said something to him he would have thrown a hissy fit and blamed her more I am glad Abir reprimanded him. Sometimes people like Kunal need an earful from people they care about. The fact that it came from Abir for whom Kunal was seemingly so rude for made it all the more satisfying.

“Misthi..” he grabs his hand with all the gentleness and as soon as he looks at Kunal his eyes shift to portray anger “Maafi maang Naanko” Mish tries to stop him but Abir sin’t having it. This time he says it with even more force “Nanko I said Maafi maang” the fire in his eyes damn Shaheer Sheikh and the way Kunal reacts “Are you serious Bhai” the look of horror in Kunal’s eyes was portrayed well by Ritvick Arora too. As always Kuhu is only thinking about her own marriage secret coming out typical Kuhu. One thing Kunal can’t let go of is his ego he tells his bhai that “Main sorry nahi bolu ga” and storms off and that’s how you publicly shame a girl and in the process successfully ruin your brother’s event that he worked so hard for. Very similar to BB who was hoping to use Abir’s exhibition as the time to reveal Naman’s truth. This mother-son duo will never care about the hard work Abir puts in all his work. Mish cares however, she knows how important this festival is for Abir. She holds him back “Abir rehnay doh na , Abir bhool jaon”

“Mishti Naanko nay sab kay samnay tumhari insult ki aur main bhool jaon”

“Main Kunal say baat karun gi filhaal tumhara yahan rehna zaroori hain YAY TAWHAR TUMHARAY LIAY BOHOT IMPORTANT HAIN tum yahan reh kar pooja karo” putting this in all caps she knows the value of this event for Abir and this is the only reason she didn’t want the issue to escalate further .

“Mandir ki koi bhi pooja aik larki ki izzat say zyada important nahi hain” and this is precisely why I stan Abir Rajvansh because for him a women’s honor comes before everything else. He shrughs of her hand and she laments on how Kunal is too far gone in his hatred to listen to reason “Kunal nahi manay ga Abir meri wajah say tumhara dil dukhay ga” aww poor girl is willing to bear any insult as long as her Ajeeb Rajvansh doesn’t get hurt because she has seen him breaking down in front of her and she can’t put him through more pain.

ROFL what was that precap? Kunal bana sautan “Main aap ko Mishti kay saath nahi baan sakta” lolo lol are we sure Kunal is straight because he wanted to share a room with his bro. I don’t blame him if he has the hots for his bro Abir is one fine man but still Kunal are you a 4 year old. Tbh I am so done with his tantrums. So, glad that Abir knows the full extent of his bro’s uncalled behavior and toxic traits.

Arre! Zara apne bhi mujhe rola diya 😭👏 Wah what a beautiful piece of writing. You just brought out the exact deep essence of our special mishbir's relationship. How wonderfully you tied many stories, emotions and previous dialogues together 👍🏼

I'm already emotional from watching our strong, cheerful Abir breakdown so naturally (kudos to Shaheer - can't wait for the upcoming emotional track 🥱) And now this...thankyou Zara for bringing out even more beauty for the writing and execution of the show :)
