Don;t let teh TRPs get under your skin much. That whole syetm is flawed adn teh guys who record TRPs, BARC, have even complained that manipulation is too easy with the current system so it needs to be changed.

Another point, Star has been focusing more on Hotstar epis, with premium viewers getting the epi in advance, bcos they also know that teh future of TV is on the internet. So actually, this show topping online TRPs is awesome news bcos as fars I know, that is not calculated in the same way.

Only producers and actors pertaining to their respective shows are informed about it. Silsila on colors was number one or second on Voot and Shakti used to share those numbers. Maybe Shaheer is also kept in loop here.

So those online figures are not really right ?

I strongly agree. The plot is not weak at all compared to many shows esp those on top 5. I tried to watch one of them yest and i couldnot out myself through that torture for more than 10 mins. I fail to understand how people watch these illogical shows.

I think trp has been pretty stable. And it is doing quite well for that time slot. Hopefully next week wont be affected czz of new shows.

Honestly I don't understand how this trp system works ..read an article few days back that they take sample of some 3000 houses to determine trp like how can a sample size of 3000 houses represent viewership of a country having population of above 100 cr ...even if we assume 10 PPL live in each house still total sample size comes to 30000 viewers which is less than 1% of entire population .. obviously the conclusions drawn on its basis will be questionable

Also trps itself have drastically reduced....during KBC kyunki time trps were above 20 and now highest is 2.5 or so. Also with the advent of online entertainment like YouTube prime Netflix etc ..TV viewership does get affected.

They should change the system to find trps ...online trps should also be given weightage in the process

More than the trps I feel if a show has a recall value which is positive. .that's a parameter for success ...for eg Sarabhai vs Sarabhai newer had high trps but PPL still watch on hotstar even after 14 years of actual telecast and there are many such examples

Hence spinning our heads and discussing about trp is a waste only..rather enjoy the show

Salutethearmy, Like I said, I do not know the process but logically speaking, its far easier to track online TRPs than TV TRPS which are taken from 30,000 TV sets (so you can see how they are not actually telling you what India is watching). I mean from the tech perspective- simple to monitor views, even to isolate IPs and get unique views.

If you see how Hotstar has moved to episode uploads in advance RIGHT after TRAI new guidelines, you can tell that online views are playing a significant role in channel decisions.

And NO, I definitely do not think Shaheer or any other cast member will be in the loop. PH yes, I think so, for sure.

Onyourface, Last line of yours, absolutely agree: NO point worrying abt TRPs.

Also, factor in the new TRAI guidelines. SO after this has kicked in, TRPs across the board have reduced drastically bcos most ppl have chucked channels they never watch and taken ONLY a few.

Forgot to add that I believe Hotstar has IT'S own system to measure TRPs online. Yes, they do not share. In fact, there is no authentic way for audience to tell. HOwever, if you notice how Hotsar is keen to upload epis in advance despite teh fact that this will cannibalize TV TRPS, we can see clearly that they obviously do not think that aspect (that online will reduce TV TRP) is very significant, right?? So when HOtstar is not worried about TV TRPS why shld WE be worried at all?😃

This is what people call ‘sour grape syndrome’. All fans celebrate when their fav show gets great numbers and the moment their show dips in TRPs, they start blaming the TRP system/question the accuracy of the system/say audience don’t watch good content. I wonder where these people where when the said shows get huge numbers. Was the show having bad content then that it got huge numbers? Was the PH hand in glove with BARC manipulating TRPs? I’ve seen this happen with some over hyped shows on the past. Fans can never gracefully accept that maybe people don’t like the show. As long as you like a show, how does it matter whether everyone likes it or not?

P.S. No offence. The only show I watch, YHM, is having a terrible storyline right now and it is reflected in the mediocre TRPs it fetches mostly.

I would like to clarify that this so called Online TRP is a sham. Hotstar/ZEE5/Voot/SonyLIV do not release their viewership data to outside sources. Only an organisation like BARC which is accepted to be a viewership measuring system can access such data. However, BARC’s online measurement system Ekam is still work in progress. No organisation currently collects online data. So this so called online TRP is not viewership data.

This list used to put shows like Naamkaran and Ishqbaaz at No.1 position. Both the shows were axed due to low TRPs even at a time when this list projected them as No.1 shows. In fact, Gul Khan told in an IV that her show Ishqbaaz was not even in TOP 5 in Hotstar when this list supposedly put the show at No.1. This clearly proves that this list is not to be taken seriously.

Despite all this, some people would want to believe that this online TRP list is genuine, maybe because their shows are on top here. Just because something favours us, doesn’t mean it is true. Please stop believing such lists.

At the end of the day, only TRP released by BARC matters.

Total no of viewers on Hotstar in India is 300 million as of 2019. This number was around 60 million in 2018. According to some data research, TV viewers in 2018 was 870 million.

Clearly TV viewership is much bigger than whole of Hotstar viewership. In reality Hindi TV shows would be watched by only a very small fraction of this 300 million. Say 10% or 30 million. This 30 million (2019) is so small in comparison to TV viewership of 2018. Do I need to say about 2019?!

So no, Hotstar doesn’t affect TV ratings by huge margins. Internet penetration is not that much in India as compared to TV penetration.

Yes I agree jo dikhta hai vo bikta hai...if PPL like cheap drama and it sells high..producers are gonna make it ..at the end they are here to make money right...the problem is not that side the problem is this side...we need audience to appreciate good content...who watch shows for characters and story and not jhello the story just bcoz it has their favourite stars.

TV should also go for a change like bollywood where now films without content are flat rejected no matter however big your star is...now content has become real star.

The day this happens..these producers will make good content shows...afterall paisa to kamana hai na..jayenge kaha!!
