How would vidya even stand up for armaan, when she does the same, call armaan sautela and what not when he does something that she doesn't want. In fact she labels kaveri's bullshit as "maasa ka gussa" , which is so messed up.
Considering this is rishta, white washing toh definitely hoga
I’ve been trying to understand what Vidya’s character actually is :
- Does she consider Armaan sautela?
I don’t think so - throughout the show she seems to be way more obsessed with Armaan than Rohit.
- So then what kind of a mother/person is Vidya?
She is a vey selfish sort of mother .. and there are lots of such mothers in our country. Woh Rohit ke saath bhi aise hi karti. She is not doing what she is doing because she considers Armaan sautela.
She is the kind of mother who believes she has done some favor on her children by bringing them up . And they owe her a lot back for that. . I’m sure we’ve all met a few such characters. Ones that bring up children with the sole goal that they will take care of us. They sacrifice everything for the kids when they are young and then blackmail them when they are older , they make the kids sacrifice things that would make them happy in return. Any denial is met with accusations of how thankless a child they are. This is a very toxic parent trait and it’s more common than we think it is. Motherhood in reality is one of the highest forms of selflessness - everything is done with absolutely nothing in return and that’s the whole beauty of it. Not all mothers are selfless though. Vidyas do exist around us. Unfortunately.
And that’s why this show MUST call her out. Does she love Armaan - yes! But she loves herself more - and she will manipulate Armaan whenever she can.
And now that it is shown that she was aware of Shivani all along - the character just becomes a downright plain villain. So what if she is Maa- maa bhi bure ho sakte hai - Maa is not a shield behind which any atrocities can be committed on a child and she can be forgiven because she is ‘Maa’ . This lady needs to go back to where she belongs. Jail.
And Dadisa needs to join her this time too.

@bold: Vidya's behaviour with respect to Armaan has not been consistent through.. But I think show has been very clear that Vidya would not have behaved the same way with Rohit the way she does with Armaan.. Her this very behavior was called out by Manisha in the episode when Ar brought Ab home after marriage and also in later episodes.. She believe that she did an ehsaan taking Armaan in ( which could be right to an extent before this reveal) , so even a small act of him not toeing the line she wants - she goes all out with her sautela behaviour.. And no she doesn't pull that with Rohit.. Also the way Armaan has been conditioned growing up that one misstep and he would lose the family, never would have happened if Vidya had whole heartedly accepted him..
And with the new reveal, all this looks just looks extremely vile in retrospect

She is vile. No two ways about that.
But she does love Armaan a lot - that’s what they are continually showing atleast! But her love is not a positive uplifting kind of love - it’s a demanding and a kind of love that’s full of expectations . Just like if your partner is an extremely toxic kind of person - you can opt for separation - what can one do if a parent is toxic? The logic that - oh he or she is your parent - so you just have to accept even their gravest of mistakes and forgive them is utter nonsense. They have a great platform to show how to deal with such parents.
On the other side Dadisa never loved Armaan. She has been clear that she held on to him only for the benefit of the firm. She is an more evil form of Vidya - what she did with Madhav is a hundred times worse than what Vidya did to Armaan. She is an INSANELY negative character that receives a lot less hate than she actually should only because Anita Raj is playing her 😄
(I absolutely detest the character of Vidya by the way - the actor performing it makes it 10 times worse with her horrendous expressions 😂) Yet I was just trying to analyze what they’re shown thus far and this is what I made of it.
Also why is this show obsessed with chun-na?
Kabhi vidya:Armaan ko maa aur abhira mein se kisi ek ko chun-na padega
Kabhi RK sahib: Armaan ko mummy aur Abhira mein se ek ko chun-na padega
Now again Vidya: ma aur mummy mein se ek
Kya laga rakha hai yeh? Nonsense!!
i dont agree with one aspect. she does treat Armaan as sautela. there is a distinct difference in how she treats Rohit vs Armaan. Rohit was never held accountable by her for running away, making his family assume he was dead, for Daksh being swapped with BSP. She picks her biological son over Armaan repeatedly and doesnt do any emotional blackmailing with Rohit. That is reserved only for Armaan. She has treated Armaan as sautela yet everytime she needs to manipulate someone to take the fall for family matters she turns to Armaan. when she rammed car into Abhir, she wanted Ar to sort out her mess. She treats Armaan as some object of hers- she can trash it when she doesnt want to use it but its still only her possession.Personally I'd say her "sautela" treatment to Armaan would to some extent be understandable if she really had really been forced to accept the kid that wasnt hers. its not easy to call someone else's child as your own, especially when child belongs to your husband and another woman. but now we see that she accepted the kid only bcoz she herself got rid of his bio mom and Madhav's first wife by faking her death. so she was not doing any favors. she was an accomplice in a crime.the audacity to pretend as if she did some huge sacrifice by taking in Armaan when she would never have needed to do anything if she hadnt got rid of his mom.I dont understand how the makers plan to resolve this track without these 2 in jail. the magnitude of what they have done is absolutely crazy!

Agreed. My response was to your point that she would have behaved the same with Rohit.. Her love to Rohit is never laced with kind of conditions and expectations that she has on Armaan.. And she has used her love for Rohit also to hurt Armaan and show the difference.. Like the way she did while feeding Rohit in PF during the post marriage track.
And I agree Kaveri is much more evil.. The difference in actors though..

They did show her once taking a strong stand for Abhira where she strongly stood against Dadisa for Armaan n Abhira . What was all that about? Her actions towards Armaan have always been way stronger - be it positive or negative. Towards Rohit they’ve shown everything in a luke warm sort of way . Probably coz he isn’t the lead I’m assuming.
It’s terribly written no doubt. I’m trying to find sense among all the nonsense the writer dishes out really 😂

thats the disconnect. they flipped Vidya from being a flawed person to outright villain, her version since Abhimaan deal shaadi revelation happened has looked completely fake even though she was pro Abhimaan shaadi after Abhira saved M's life and even apologized to her. even then I thought she was flipper and unreliable but now she's a proper criminal. in the Abhir matter also she had no genuine regret for destroying a young man's life and career.
She has never spoken up for Armaan unless coaxed by Abhira or unless its for her own selfish motives.
Even her stand to stop his shaadi out of supposed concern for him having his own progeny seemed to stem out of the need for waaris of family since he is the oldest kid of his generation rather than genuine concern for Armaan. She stakes claim on him as if he's her possession bcoz she seems to realize that he is more capable and trustworthy than her actual biological son when it comes to all matters- personal or professional.
Vidya is a desperate woman ..her desperation needs to be seen in a new light now, given that she knew the truth all along …Vidya knew Shivani was alive…irrespective of Kaveri’s reassurances, the fear of her status being revoked was always there…the fear was real …and Armaan was her only bargaining chip …so as much as it breaks my heart to say this of a mother, Vidya’s love or affection or whatever she felt for Armaan was coloured by her desperation to maintain status quo..and the one way to do it was to make Armaan dependent on her and grateful to her for her acceptance of him ….Vidya and Kaveri played good cop bad cop …Vidya enslaved him with scraps of affection and Kaveri did it by reminding him of the huge debt the orphan kid born to a ‘lowly’ mother owed the family for having taken him into their fold …this is no apna sautela story …this is one of systematic emotional abuse of a child to ensure his complete supplication to their ‘love’/ authority …Vidya was desperate and lost it completely every time Armaan went against her or did something that she did not approve of her because of this …because she sensed she was losing her grip on him …and if she lost her grip on him and someday the truth came out, she would be left with nothing …she made Madhav also obligated to stay with her because she supposedly accepted his past and the child born to his first wife …if the truth came out that it was all a sham, she would be in serious danger of losing her so called family ..the reveal that she was Kaveri’s co-conspirator places the characters of both Kaveri and Vidya in a fresh light ..they are cold hearted monsters who destroyed Armaan’s childhood simply to protect their own statuses …the first one her power and authority and social esteem that she felt might be destroyed by the entry of a woman not of grand birth ..the second one her status as a wife and a mother and a daughter-in-law …they are both nothing short of diabolical and about the worst characters I have come across in ITV …because they maintained this facade for thirty years of being good hearted humans who embraced an orphan child while they were the black hearts who kept a child and a mother apart and destroyed both their lives !Originally posted by: Solitudelover
