This was the first generation.. Hina khan was the face of yeh rishta … and it was not meant exactly to be a legacy show .. channel was not convinced they could run the show without her .. shivangi was a newbie … Hina obviously was not keen to play mother in law wala role to Mohsin n shivangi

Which is right .. she played mom to grown up Naksh n naira … but they gradually built the romance around Naira n Kartik .. for 1 month the drama was played around her death ..
it was a messy affair .. gen 1 Trp had started dipping it was the same time shows like Diya baati n ipk closed down .. which were as successful as yeh rishta but by bringing the leap and shift to a new family .. shahi got a twist and he could repeat it again for gen 3 ..


otherwise shahi did a mistake his show bidaai was doing very well but he logically closed the show at very high Trp .. as he felt he had no more story to tell from yeh rishta he got the idea to shift the story to a new family

Ekta used to do it by making tulsi prerna mom in-laws and centering the leap around the sons
