“Bhaiya.”
“Bhaiya.”
“Bhaiya bataiye toh ki kaise hui aap dono ki shaadi.” Rohit followed Armaan and Abhira like a cute puppy all the way to their room, talking non-stop. Armaan was initially thankful to Rohit for letting them get in the house without much trouble from dadisa and others but in exchange, he himself was asking too many questions, even though it was nothing more than a child’s curiosity.
“Rohit mai bohot thak gaya hu, ham kal baat karenge is baarei mei.” Armaan softly tried to dismiss him off but only if it was that easy of a task for him.
“Lekin mujhe toh aaj hi baat karni hai, aap nahi batayenge toh bhabhi aap hi bata dijiye.” Rohit turned towards Abhira, completely changing his focus to her to which she looked at him in horror, after all it was Armaan’s house and his brother, why would she get into this mess of telling tales which are more of nightmares.
“Rohit No! Enough! Kaha na kal baat karenge.” Armaan intervened knowing well that she was uncomfortable and needed time to adjust, his tone wasmore seriously this time to let his favourite younger brother off their back.
“Bhaiya ek toh aap meri shaadi mei nahi aaye, mujhe gift bhi nahi diya shaadi ka aur khud bhi shaadi karli secretly—” Rohit started ranting but was intervened in between by an impatient Armaan who stared at him.
“Tujhe tera shaadi ka gift chahiye?” Armaan cheekily grinned after days.
“Haa aur reason bhi ki aap dono ne achanak shaadi kyu ki?” Rohit excitedly demanded his favourite sibling but, in his heart, prayed for his older brother’s happiness in that very second.
“Rohit.” Armaan warned his younger brother as he was already emotionally and physically drained to entertain his brother anymore.
“Accha gift kal de dijiye ga but abhi sirf reason bata dijiye. Ab isse zada negotiation nahi karunga mai.” Rohit suggested to which Armaan snickered in defeat. He shared a look with Abhira before looking at hisbrother again.
“Tu nahi maanega na?” Armaan questioned playfully tapping Rohit’s shoulder.
“Nahi.” Rohit immediately answered back mischievously.
“Accha toh fir dhyaan se sun and ask questions later. Beech mei interrupt mat karna.” Armaan sat on the edge of the bed and made Rohit sit beside him. He knew how curious his brother was and how he would interject in between like he always had this annoying but cute habit of doing the same, therefore warning him pre hand was a dire necessity.
Armaan then told him everything about Yuvraaj and Akshara maa and how he was requested by a dying person to marry Abhira.
“Ab bata maine ismei kya galat kiya hai?” Armaan asked not because he questioned his own decisions but because he wanted to know if Rohit was on their side or not. Armaan, chanted in his mind for Rohit to be on their side before Rohit finally answered him.
“Kucch bhi nahi. Mujhe toh pata tha, kucch aisa situation hoga tabhi aapne itna bada step liya.” Rohit’s answered made Armaan smile in content, as at least his brother was on their side if not everyone else.
“Accha toh fir itni der se reason kyu pucch rahe tha?” Armaan mocked in fake anger.
“Because andaaza hone mei aur actual reason pata hone mei fark hota hai mere bhole bhaiya.” Rohit teased him in return.
“Rohit.” Armaan warned him for the umpteenth time tonight but to no avail as Rohit was not in the mood of listening.
“Accha accha sorry. Ab gift toh aap kal denge, toh mai chalta hu, good night. Duao mei yaad rakhna.” Rohit dramatically wished before leaving the duo finally alone in peace.
As soon as Rohit left, Armaan laid down on his bed in that half laying and half sitting position, until his eyes fell on her. She stood on the opposite end of the bed, looking at him, he jerked up to stand back on his feat.
“Abhira tum bed pe so sao and mai floor pe—” He suggested but was interjected in between.
“Nahi Armaan, yeh tumhara room hai, tum bed pe so jao, mai floor pe so jaungi.” She countered back.
“No Abhira, tum bed pe so jao.”
“Nahi Armaan—"
“Agar aise hi tum-tum karte rahe toh raat guzar jayegi lekin aap dono yahi karte reh jayenge aur neend ko toh bhul hi jaiyega fir.” They both heard Rohit and looked at the door to see him leaning against the door with a smirk on his face.
“Rohit.” Armaan warned him yet again in an attempt to stop him.
“Are mai toh yeh kehne aaya tha ki room lock karna mat bhulna.” Rohit teased them before running away as Armaan immediately locked the door so that Rohit couldn’t nag them again.
“Tum bed pe leto, mai futon pe so jaunga, mera room mei ek extra futon hai.” He told her and walked towards his wardrobe to find the said extra futon inside the deep end of his wardrobe.
“Itna bada bed hone ke baad bhi extra futon ki kya zarurat?”She couldn’t help but ask the obvious.
“Actually, college time mei sab dost sleepover karte the aur sabhi mere ghar aate the toh isiliye yeh rakha hua hai but jab college khatm hua toh—Anyway ab tum guilty mat feel karna, mujhe ispe sone ki aadat hai.” He told her but she sensed his turmoil a bit, not wanting to invade his personal life,she held back her words and nodded her head slightly before laying on the bed.
He put the futon beside the bed and laid down comfortably. They thought sleep would not come to them tonight, but both of them were so much emotionally and physically drained that they dozed off in a few minutes.
They both woke up with Armaan’s alarm clock ringing at 6 in the morning, they groaned before realising that they weren’t alone making them sit up straight with a jerk.
“Uh—good morning.” He wished her first followed by a simple nod from her, They got ready in the next hour and then came the moment they both dreaded the most that is going out.
She fidgeted her fingers as she didn’t want to face them, he noticed and to grab her attention, he held her face softly making her look at him. He thought that she would push him away but when she didn’t, he knew that she was too tensed to.
“Abhira, mai har waqt tumhaare saath rahunga, tum bilkul tension mat lo. And mai apne ghar waalo ko jaanta hu, unhe hamari shaadi accept karne mei time lagega but they will come around but tak tak hame bas unhe tolerate karna hoga. Tumhe lage ki tum tolerate nahi kar paa rahi ho toh mujhe bina kisi hesitation ke bata dena, ham yaha se chale jayenge. Jo tum kahogi wahi hoga, hmm?” He ended with a question and once she nodded her head, he left her and they both stepped out only to meet Rohit again.
“Mai toh aapko bulaane ke liye aya tha breakfast ke liye, good that my AbhiMaan are already set.” He cheered, honestly the only person in the house who was happy seeing them in the moment.
“AbhiMaan?” Abhira and Armaan questioned in unison making Rohit chuckle at there cuteness.
“Arey mere pyaare bhaiya aur Bhabhi, AbhiMaan matlab Abhira aur Armaan, aap dono bhi na.” He added in order to explain them.
“Rohit--” Armaan started scolding but was interrupted in between by Rohit.
“Lecture abhi ke liye postpone kar dijiye bhaiya aur dining table par chaliye nahi toh dadisa ham teeno ko daatengi.” Rohit chipped.
“Rohit, Dadisa allow nahi karengi waha—I think—”
“Jab Rohit aapke saath hai toh aap dar kyu rahe hai? No fikar when Rohit is here.” Rohit uttered.
“Isi baat ka toh darr hai.” She mumbled quietly which Armaan heard but chose not to react.
“Kucch kaha bhabhi aapne?” Rohit asked innocently to which she nodded her head in negative, together the three of them walked to the dining area where a huge scene got unfolded and as Rohit tried to control the situation, he too got the scolding which he didn’t expect but not effective enough to not take his brother’s side anymore.
Later to lift his brother’s and sister in law’s dampened moods, he went to their room to find them in deep thoughts.
“Arey aap dono itna serious kyu hai, dadisa maan jayengi, chill.” He got no reply in return making him sigh before he started again.
“Accha aap dono ke liye gift laya hu mai, aapki shaadi ka.” He handed both of them two small pastel-coloured boxes making them surprised asit is but when the found out that it was matching platinum chains they got stunned.
“Lekin Rohit--”
“Arey yeh kaam toh mom aur dadisa ko karna chahiye tha but abhi who naraaz hai isliye mai kar raha hu aur bhaiya aap bhi toh mujhe meri shaadi ka gift denge na, toh mera bhi toh hak banta hai. “ Rohit defended before they get a chance to return his gift.
“Ab tune yaad dila diya hai toh tujhe tera gift bhi dedete hai.” Armaan smiled.
“Haa toh dijiye, mai kabse wait kar raha hu.” Rohit forwarded his hand and Armaan walked to his wardrobe, kept Rohit’s gift safelyand took out a key before closing it again.
“Yeh le.” He threw the key at Rohit which he obviously caught but got surprised.
“Kis cheez ki key hai yeh bhaiya? Agar aap apni puraani car mujhe dene waale hai toh no thanks, I want a new one, okay?” Rohit demanded making Armaan laugh at his expense even though the key was new enough to indicate that the vehicle was new only, be it bike or car but Rohit had dramatize the situation as always.
“Parking area jaake dekhle ki nayi hai ya puraani?” Armaan challenged him.
“Aap bhi chaliye, mai baad mei koi reviews nahi dunga aapko ki kaisa laga gift wagera wagera.” Rohit said dramatically making Armaan just shake his head at his drama.
“Fine, chal.”
“Bhabhi aap bhi chaliye.” Rohit asked her to which she looked at Armaan first and once he affirmed, she too nodded her head in affirmation. Armaan was happy that Rohit had accepted her and was involving her with their matters.
They went to the parking area only to find the brand-new sports car which Rohit wanted, wrapped in white ribbon.
“Thank you so much bhai, I love this gift so much.” Rohit exclaimed in shear happiness written all over his face.
‘Mujhe pata hai, but akele mat ghumne lag jaana, apni wife ko bhi leke jana. Okay?” Armaan casually told him to which rohit nodded but Abhira got surprised as Rohit’s wife was his love and he acted so normal about it, probably hiding all his pain behind that smile of his. Something stirred inside her, maybe it was just sympathy for the person who stood before her.
“Yes your honour, jo aap kahe. Ab agar aapki permission ho toh car ko zara nazdeek se dekhlu mai?” Rohit enquired in a playful tone to which Armaan laughed.
“All yours.” He said and Rohit sprinted around the car, gushing over it.
“Armaan, are you fine?” She muttered to him and he sensed worry in her tone which was drastically different from her behaviour in Musoorie.
“I am fine. But yeh kyu pucchh rahi ho Abhira?” He asked not able to understand the reason behind it.
“Woh Rohit ki wife—uhh I—” She stuttered clearly struggling to form a sentence when he smiled at her.
“Thank you for showing some sympathy to me at least after our deal--- wait kahi tum meri wife toh nahi banna chahti ab?” He teased her.
“What nonsense Armaan? No way, mera answer abhi bhi same hai.”She said pursing her lips in thin line.
“Good!” He smiled before fondly watching his brother who was busy clicking pictures of his car from different angles.
