Why would a brain injury/head laceration require cardiac surgery?
Based on how Abhinav fell and was injured, I can't find a connection between the two. Maybe excessive bleeding caused low blood pressure and tachycardia? But I didn't see that kind of blood loss in the episodes. Even if that happened, why would that require heart surgery? Wouldn't you just focus on giving more blood and saline?
I work in neuroscience research myself and the only connection I can think of where a brain injury would require cardiac intervention is in the case of stroke, i.e. where the heart is throwing blood clots or arteries are filled with plaque. But I don't have any surgical interventional experience so I don't want to assume.
I also don't understand how Dr. Abhimanyu Birla is the only one cardiac surgeon who is good enough to treat a cardiac patient. Wouldn't all doctors and hospital personnel know about post-op procedures and observation? I worked in long term care and in a hospital setting, and I've seen nurses check patients' vitals almost every other hour. It's common knowledge for those in the medical community. I don't see how an ultra rich and VIP surgeon like Abhimanyu is the only one who has knowledge of these procedures.
Also, in a real hospital setting with such senior surgeons like Abhimanyu, there are resident doctors and interns and other attending doctors on-call. Aren't they qualified enough to handle a case like Abhinav's? I worked with a senior attending doctor once and most of his cases were handled by residents. He himself was responsible for so many patients that it was more efficient to delegate patients to three-four residents. It doesn't make sense to me how such a senior surgeon like him is always necessary for every kind of surgical procedure.
Another thing, even if he hadn't been arrested, Abhimanyu wouldn't have been eligible to operate on Abhinav because of his emotional involvement. Medical personnel are not allowed to treat and operate on their own family members or friends, right?
