you have to wonder and if they are just in rural villages, then are they really catching the pulse of the audience?. Clearly they dont care because TRP drives advertising revenue and channel make their money.

I'd say most are really people who just leave the TV on after a long day of potentially doing housework. They dont really pay attention to what is playing on screen. I recall my mum used to watch zee Tv all the time only because that was the only channel with English subtitles(she didnt understand hindi). She would only watch a couple of the shows but would leave the TV for hrs. I guess there are many people like that. As to why it goes up when they show immoral stuff, perhaps because they are so illogical, people know it can never happen in real life, so must get some kind of joy from it.
