So guys since its Akshu's Rasoi day at Birla mansion today... I wanted to know from all of you what your first rasoi was at your in-laws ( and for those who aren't married yet... what would you cook/ or what is your signature dish)

P.S. what was your in-laws/bae's/ or anyone who's tasted your dish reaction towards your dish...

I am married but I didn’t have pehli rasoi ritual. I don’t think it’s in my culture. I maybe wrong but my in-laws didn’t make me cook anything so I assume it doesn’t exist 😂😂

It’s been too many years to remember what was the first dish I prepared 😂😂 but I am curious to know what everyone says.

Thanks for the tag Jani.. cute post 🥰🥰...Mine was tea I think lol 😂😂 and my Sasuji made kheer and asked me to just touch it .. Lol... Made it easy for me... For wedding I got only 2 weeks leave to go to India... So everything happened in hush and my husband loves his mom's food and didn't want to risk eating my food and I wanted to avoid kitchen too for 2 weeks so all worked out very well 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hey Amru... that sounds just like me....

We don't have a pehla rasoi in my culture (thank God, because I didn't know how to cook)....so I never had to... but ( the first thing I made for my husband was a cake( before we got married)...) which he loved by the way..and to this day always asks me to make him that particular type of cake...

P.S. I didn't know how to cook when I got married.. I only knew how to make cakes... samosas and other short eats/snacks/puddings/kheer... I didn't even know how to make chai.... Also its been a long time since I cooked my first meal for my in-laws so I don't quite remember what it was but I think it was rice and curries with a sweet dish (I made a feast). They all liked it..but by then I was quite good at cooking so they didn't have anything to complain about I guess...

My bae’s house has a lot of staff…so most likely I won’t cook anything….also I don’t know how to 🥺

I made halwa ..like..a proper dish..but when it was my first day they asked me to put a poori in the oil (the cook was already there doing everything else ) , n I almost put my hand in the oil and put it in perfectly ..the cook was also😲this is when I never stepped in the kitchen before marriage n cooked a proper meal but I learnt a few dishes from my mom and grandmother.

Till date I make halwa , my mil is not Interested in cooking 🤣 she keeps telling me ,no need to do anything as they have servants ..but I like to do it for me and my kids..

This is a cute topic!

I am not married nor do I have plans too 😂

I am Punjabi, and in my family we have a rasam where when something joyous occasion occurs, we make something sweet, usually kheer.

So I would make them breakfast & for something sweet, kheer!

I would also keep in mind my husband's background, if they are from a different culture than me, and maybe try to make them something from their culture.

Who knows what the future holds???
