They're in a hospital where they have patients. Calling each other "Akshu" and "Abhi" in front of those patients isn't a sign of professionalism.

Abhi starts his "Akshu" jaap in front of the Birlas when discussing the department is proof that he made this decision out of emotional reasoning, not logistics and merit. Whenever he calls her Akshu, he's not seeing her as an individual but seeing her through the lens of their proximity and relationship.

I haven’t watched the recent episodes in full, mostly skipped scenes, so I’m unsure if Akshu makes a similar choice (calling him Abhi etc).

In the UK casualness is actually encouraged between colleagues even in medical setting so a secretary or a cleaner can call a doctor by his/her first name and no one will be offended...another reason why our doctors/nurses wear casual clothes with a name badge to encourage patients to call them by their first name especially those working in paeds . Of course with patients the title 'Dr' is used by colleagues when talking eg a nurse telling a patient 'Dr Tracy will see you' then when they see the doctor it will be 'Marilyn this patient is waiting'. So I don't see anything wrong with it but Abhi is too informal with her, which is not nice because he is constantly reminding other colleagues that they share a personal relationship and workplaces discourage that for many reasons.

Given that he works for the family hospital, and all the management is family, and now with his relationship with Akshara I actually feel sorry for all the non-related staff!😆 They will have to tiptoe around them all, worried that if they moan about any management, Abhi Arohi or Akshu they may get the sack!...not a good place to work and in real life it would cause so many problems.😆

Yeah even in my company we do not use sir, madam etc. Everyone uses their first name. But when we are around known people we use short names pet names so i do not see anything wrong with that.

As it was majorly done infront of kid. But if there are some more patients who are elderly if abhi does the same then it depends on what is the code of conduct of the hospital.

First names are different than pet names though. Like my professors let me call them by their first name but that extends to everyone. Whereas, in this show, names and nicknames hold a lot of meaning. For example, only few people can call him Abhi so, in a way, it's more of a display of their intimate relationship. If someone else, another colleague like the junior doctor, called her Akshu Abhi would be furious and might even create a scene citing it as unprofessional behaviour because he values that nickname so much. That lack of informality wouldn't extend to everyone, rather, in this situation, it adds to the elite Birla club where everything goes.

Yes Freddie..agree

My staff ..I told them not to address me as Dr.___ so and so but my first name..Bela. When they are addressing me to someone on phone or outside department ..it's always Dr. ____last name for us..My all other colleagues were addressed as Dr. ____last name.

I like that friendly environment and we know the boundaries too for each other.

But here, Abhi is romancing Akshu in front of the kid, telling Dr. Rohan to be off from Akshu 😆

Well in Board room i don't feel they are true professionals..Mahima, Anand, Harsh they all act like family..Harsh himself adress his brother as Bhaisab..ask Abhi to answer this..

I think In India ..it is very informal..may be someone from here can address better..

Very few strictly follows this professionalism if both works at same place..They do address each other with first name but of course don't romance publicly, but I have seen them informal in lounge or changing room outside OT...
