A youtube couple that I'm a huge fan of recently got married. In their latest Q&A, they discussed what changed in their relationship post-marriage and this is what they said - "when we were just dating, it was our family and our significant other. We cared about both immensely but the family was the top priority. Now, my family has changed. My partner and the life we're about to create together is our family and I have to give it more heed because it needs a strong foundation." So now when they're making decisions, they do have to factor in each other more and understand the reciprocal effects. Before marriage, their partner was included in their family, and now their partner is their family.
Akshu hasn't experienced either of those mindsets; she hasn't intertwined Abhi in her idea of a family nor do I think she's wrapped her head around what a marriage looks like. When she sees Anisha, she doesn't see her future family, she sees Kairav's girlfriend and that's her motivation. Whereas Abhi, and surprisingly the Birlas, have. The Birla's understand how important the Goenka's are and are very involved but the Goenka's aren't. Even Harsh has given up - ye [Akshu] jo hai so hai.
I don't blame her cause of the way I watched that scene, I understood what Akshara's saying and would've said the same. It took me a good minute to see Abhi's point of view. Moreover, she almost lost the last father figure she had so it was a state of heightened emotions. But this isn't the first instance where she's separated Abhi from her 'apne'.
