I agree with you - Akshara is the prototypical Indian serial female lead. She is literally besahaara and will have to fight her way through all the agni pariksha the other characters will set up for her to gain the dubious prize of becoming the Birla bahu. I can only hope Abhimanyu will be put on the reverse character course to Kartik (who started out sweet and supportive but became unbearably chauvinistic and toxic as time went on) but I'm not holding my breath.

I just would like to say that I have no issues with men showing emotions and I do appreciate it when they are able to break down and cry to their heart's content.

But sorry to say, according to me this was executed so badly. He came across as super immature and whiny. Just my personal opinion. Let's agree to disagree.

Adding on, men should cry more so that they can channel their emotions in a healthy manner and without taking it out on other genders. Even if it was Manjari or Akshara who was in that scene doing the exact same thing Abhimanyu did, I will feel the embarrassment and cringe, and not empathy.

But if the crying doesn't help in calming down and mild down his behavior towards Akshu what's the point.

Also, I completely disagree that he is helpless here. His one no can stop all this drama. Not taking action and chumma whining is just annoying to watch.

Emotional vulnerability is one thing, self-infantilization and aggressive sympathy-baiting is completely another. I would not want someone like Abhimanyu as a partner, neither would any of the 5 girls I usually watch this show with😆. Now granted we are all American girls, born and brought up in the US (some of us with Indian parents), but I've seen enough viewpoints on this forum from Indian women who agree. What happened to that post asking who'd want Abhimanyu in real life? I don't think anyone who responded on that thread answered in the affirmative...

I'm from India born n brought up here itself, BUT I DON'T WANT ABHI FOR MYSELF, I REPEAT I DON'T.

I feel regardless of where we are born which I had mentioned first too, it depends on our perspective how we accept things in certain situation n I refuse to accept all the harassments Akshu goes through daily repeatedly. 😔

Yeah it is however true that majority of viewers accept this type love all over the world who are watching this cuz TRP of such series like Imlie, GHKKPM, YRKKH is the proof of that. The makers show this type of stuff cuz viewers accept this. N that's the sad reality we are living in.

Exactly. I am also born and brought up in India and no way I want anyone like Abhimanyu. Who literally has severe anger management issues, and does drama everywhere he goes, can't even take a stand and has unhealthy obsessive relationship with his mother. Think about it he will constantly gaslight you for all the wrong decisions he makes. You will be absolutely exhausted physically and emotionally dealing with a volcano like him that can erupt anytime. Care work is not quantified and can't be actually, but it's real and exhausting.

Thank god, I have very healthy ideas and examples of good relationships. 😃
