This chapter is going to be super short because I’m tired ….

Chapter 6

As they left the driveway of Goenka Villa, Abhimanyu turned to Akshara.

“So what market do you to go to?” Abhimanyu asked.

“Koi bhi.”

Abhimanyu looked at Akshara who was looking straight lost in her thoughts.

“Are you looking to buy anything in particular?”

“Ummm….sorry?” Akshara got out of her thoughts and looked at Abhimanyu. Abhimanyu smiled at her. He didn’t know what was going on inside her head but he knew she didn’t need to go anywhere and just needed an excuse to leave the house.

“How about we go to Central Park instead?”

“Okay.” Akshu answered still lost in her thoughts. “Let’s go to Cent…” she finally realized what Abhimanyu has said and looked at him and started to laugh. If Abhimanyu thought her singing was magic and her smile made his knees go weak, her laughter made his soul rejoice. It was the most beautiful sound he had heard in his life.

“Sorry Dr. Abhimanyu. I’m not a good liar. I am still adjusting to living with so many people and needed to get out. I’m sorry you had to leave the prayer and come with me.” Akshara apologized. Abhimanyu wanted to tell her he was ready to leave the whole world for her. All she had to do was ask but he thought maybe it was too soon. He felt scared of how strong his feelings were for her and that too so soon. Was that normal? Is that how fast people fall in love?

“Please don’t apologize. I am not a fan of gatherings either.” Abhimanyu decided to just drive around without a destination. Akshara didn’t notice. She didn’t know the new roads yet. “Do you want me to drop you off at a friend’s house?” Please say no. Please say no.

“I haven’t lived here in many years. I don’t have any friends here. And back to the topic, it still feels strange to ask my boss to turn into my driver and that too before I even start work.”

“Your boss? I’m not that too old to be your boss?” Abhimanyu pretended to be offended, “Dr. Mahima is your boss. I’m your colleague and I would love to be your first friend in Udaipur.” Abhimanyu smiled hopefully at Akshara.

“I am awful at being a friend.”

“Well that’s for me to judge, no?”

“Are you sure you want to do this, Dr. Abhimanyu? My friend Sophie will warn you against this.”

“Abhi. Call me Abhi and yes I am sure.” Abhi extended his hand. Abhimanyu didn’t allow anyone but his mother to call him Abhi. But Akshara wasn’t just anyone.

Akshara smiled and shook Abhi’s hand. “Okay Abhi. But please focus on your driving.” Akshara was surprised at herself that she accepted Abhimanyu’s friendship request. It was very unlike her and it made her confused.

Abhi grinned and went back to looking at the road. “So can I call you Akshu?”

Akshara shrugged. “If you want.”

“You know I’m very surprised you are Aarohi’s sister. I’ve known your family for years now and nobody ever mentioned you. Even Aarohi never mentioned having a sister or at least I don’t remember.”

“It’s okay Aarohi doesn’t remember either.” Akshara whispered.

“What?”

“Nothing. Sorry Dr. Abhima…I mean Abhi. I’m really sorry to ask you this but I forgot my bag at home. Is it okay for you to drop me off? Or I can walk back. I walked everywhere in New York.” Akshara tried to change the subject. She really didn’t want to talk about Aarohi to anyone but especially not Abhi.

Abhimanyu looked at Akshara and noticed how her body looked more tensed and her breathing was starting to be uneven. Her eyes and face looked like if there was a storm raging inside did her that she was desperately trying to control. How did this happen in a span of a few seconds? She was laughing just a few minutes ago. “Akshu. This is not New York. Of course I’ll drop you off. Are you okay? I’m sorry if I said anything that offended you?” He was getting worried about her.

“What? No no. You didn’t say anything. Sorry. See I told you I make a bad friend. I’ve already done something wrong.” Akshu tried to smile.

“Akshu.”

“Can you please drop me off home? I am starting to get a headache.” Akshu said pleadingly.

“Okay. Ya.” Abhimanyu knew it wasn’t a headache. The way her body was slightly shaking and her breathing was becoming uneven, Abhimanyu knew she was trying to control a panic attack but he didn’t want to say anything to make her feel uncomfortable and make her anxiety worse. He also didn’t want to embarrass her. He drove as fast he could.

As soon as they reached Goenka Villa, Akshu rushed out of the car.

“Thank you so much. I’ll see you at work on Monday.” Akshu said out of breath like she just got done running a marathon.

Akshara ran straight to the guest room and took out her inhaler from her bag. She quickly used it and then collapsed on her bed exhausted. She fought back her tears. She was angry at herself for almost losing control in front of Abhimanyu. But his comment about nobody ever mentioning her once again made her realize how less she mattered to her family and now she’s once again living with the same family. Well Akshara agar tune yeh faisla kar liya hai ke tu yahan rahi gi than get used to the questions. You can’t lose control like this again.


As he drove to his house, Abhi started to get more and more concerned. Behind Akshu’s beautiful eyes and smile, there was so much pain. It was like if she was carrying a heavy burden on her tiny shoulders. What’s in your heart, Akshu? What is it that is hurting you so much that it makes you get panic attacks? Who is it that is giving you so much pain? Whatever it is, I promise I’ll find out and take it all away from you.

I kept refreshing waiting for the update and I wake up to such a treat!

I hope we get one more update today! It’s painful to see Akshara avoiding her family! They are so blind it’s astonishing!

And why the hell did they send her away and are faking love now? Pooja and all! Nonsense! They never talk avout her! They never mention her! No one knows of her existence! It’s sad to see Kaira’s daughter go through this! I hope Kairav has bed bugs in his bed and nightmares who don’t let him sleep! Stupid Kairav can’t even see his baby sister’s pain!
