Hello,
As much as I remind myself, that I am done with the track of this show, I end up checking on updates or few promos, with the bleak hope of any update regarding betterment of this track.
"Then. Don't follow it. Don't watch it. It's just a drama" I myself have heard this dialogue and even, advised it to others, at times. But I know, it is easier said than done.
I am not crazy about this show, but since the actors are amazing, and the storyline(with leap), I felt had potential once, so I ended up checking social media for any "positivity" in yrkkh. And am I disappointed? Yes. Every time.
What has ruined my case of curiosity further is the fact that I hear from long time viewers about this show being different and realistic. But the reality, i.e. the current track, is anything but sensible and realistic. Just few individual scenes from here and there are a case of quality content but if you take the whole storyline into consideration, it's just too disorganized.
I am not watching the show's current track anymore, but I updated myself with current plotline and certain promos for the upcoming episodes. And I wanted to ask from old viewers here, are the creatives, same, as that of old/older yrkkh? Because, frankly, current set of Creatives, are telling a story that is a case of a typical overly dramatic and senseless creativity, or can say, very poorly written stupid fan fiction. A very poor quality one. Is this the lowest point in the history of yrkkh? Or there were few more in the past?
With the current plotline, the only thing, that was sensible was the care for one's child by his parents, no more though. I remember watching the scenes where Kartik and Naira, keeping aside their differences, were running around together to get that life saving injection for their child. I remember the scene where the same parents got on their knees in front of strangers,to save their child. Kartik trying to explain little Vansh to not to say anything that may hurt Kairav. Naira keeping herself locked up in a room just to let Kairav have his way with his big "happy" family. And that was the last episode that I saw of yrkkh. But what I got from all of this, was that the only thing creatives were doing a good work was not spoiling relationship of a mother and father for their child. Kartik and Naira were respecting and trying to understand each other's role as mother and father.
Time heals. But the creatives are paving way for more mess and more ugly plotline. So what I want to say here is that, Time heals, but that time also has it's expiry.
I have talked about this earlier, that Kartik and Naira, with character accusation, after five year leap and with the presence of a child, their relationship was at a point where one small blunder can ruin everything forever.
And with every passing promo, I was giving them a benefit of doubt, but I guess, I should accept by now that, it's just series of blunders Kaira are working on. Why don't creatives just end Kaira's relationship for forever in coming episodes instead of being sadistic and having fun out of this mess. I don't want to sound bad, but there is a limit to having blunders in a relationship. I had hopes post the leap episodes, because Kaira were shown to have loved each other despite the five year separation. It wouldn't have been easy to mend ways, but their love would have find it's way. Cares and respect might last but that "love" and trust can't last, if the blunders are repeated time and again.
A lady with a character accusations, a single mom with his son as sole reason for her survival, a guilt-ridden lover who thought his love is no more, a loving father who was unaware of his child's existence, a set of parents with a sick child and also, (from the past a track that I haven't seen), parents who had a misfortune of losing their child at birth. These all scenarios were great to take up for creating a quality drama. Because these cases are not at all easy to handle. They have an invisible "handle with care" tag attached to them. It was great to see ITV taking up these topics.
But all these major scenarios have come to an insignificant and trivial issue for this show and it's creatives. Because meaningless festivals, divorce, second marriage, custody battle, is something which is more urgent and important to take care of. I was rooting for Kaira post 5 year leap, but my hopes were short lived. Can I take a moment to fake applaud the creatives' mindset here.
Another reason why I am more irritated at the moment is because I was watching few old episodes dated back to 2017. And I realized, how much the creatives' have worked on for ruining the old characters of the show. I liked that Naira was different. She was vocal about her stand, society issues, family issues, whilst keeping in consideration the ungrateful elders of the family , special mention to Goenka Dadi here. Naira tried explaining them, tried considering their aspect on a situation. She tried keeping up with her husband as well as the families. As for Kartik, he was not just a person who was simply mad in love. He was vocal about his opinions as much as Naira. Even when they weren't on same page, they fought but they tried to understand each other over time. They worked on themselves as well as their relationships. Because of the imperfections their struggle and their lessons @2017, I was finding them really amazing. There was actually so much I accepted, even though I was not agreeing to several issues with the characters in the drama @ 2017. There was a charm to them.
But all of this is royally ruined right now at this point. With Naira letting others rule over her decisions. With Kartik being respectful of his second wife's position in his life. Kairav's innocence. Goenkas ruling over Kaira's independent decisions. Singhania's confused what to show viewers with thei momentary also, recurring love for Naira. And with Goenka Dadi toh, I will choose to not to say anything because she has seen more of this world. Her "Hum abhi tak shant the, bas ab aur nahin. Humne tumse zyada duniya dekhi hai." is enough to shut me out of my cool senses.
The quality. It's fallen so much that I was thinking about the fact, that their separation might be more of a happy ending. I may prefer that forever etched pain and regret deep down in heart more than a cringe worthy forceful happiness with them reuniting after whatever mess the creatives are working on.
Being a hopeless romantic at heart, it's a sad reality to learn about this current plotline and possible outcome of the mess.
Of course it's Yeh Rishta's creatives' work of art, and they can do whatever they want to, with it, on their whims. They talk about how they are writing and showing the the stories from the society they live in, which compels me to think about how dysfunctional this society is But, I also belong from the same society, and I come across a lot of real stories from this very same society, and I realize, that this society is dysfunctional but not as much as it was shown in this drama.
Special Mention to Mohsin and Shivangi for being the face of Kartik and Naira and few supporting casts, for keeping up my curiosity level even though the story is progressing down the drain.
And now, after ranting out my thoughts, with hopes to give up on checking out on social media updates, for once and for all, I will remind myself again, "Let's not follow it. Let's not watch it. It's just a drama".
Signing off,
Disappointed Viewer.
