Do educated women also prefer sons over daughters? Why?

Was thinking about the Gender preference track in Yeh rishta...and it made me go nostalgic.

Don't know how it is in other parts of India but in North India (Rajsathan and Punjab) sons are prized and daughters neglected. (Not generalizing but its true to a great extent)

Though things are changing when it comes to education and job perspectives for daughters parents are open minded but when it comes to marriage why some parents tend to take a different turn altogether?

Personally know many parents who never had any problems with their son's inter caste wedding but the inter caste wedding of their daughter was a question of life and death to them!

It was appalling to meet a friend's sister working in an mnc in USA who had two daughters but was pregnant for the third time and was scared to have her third born as a daughter?

What would you call such a woman? Educated? ??What role education plays here?

(Isn't the lady independent enough to take stand?)

I have myself been a victim of Gender bias at home and was subjected to depression until I chose to rise and shine against all odds and I am successful today. Today I pity the intelligence of so called educated + Independent women who support this ridiculous regressive mindsets.

(No offence to anyone, I don't intend to hurt anyone here.)

To mention a bit of the show too :) Is the precap Dadi's dream? Or Naira wud get the doctor arrested and wud save Dadi by fooling the police that Dadi Goyenka was a part of operation Decoy to catch the culprits?

I want Kaira to be the proud parents of twin baby girls. And that would be the Nayi Soch! and there should not be any place for gender codification or preference.

If we talk about what use to happen 20-25 years ago or even before...that time gender bias was one of the major societal issue...but from past 5-7 years people's mindset has changed to greater extent because women these days are doing lot better in most of the professional field they are no more dependent even on their parents...there is no pressure of dowry on parents...though in 2018 and maybe in future too there are/will be several people who still yearn for male child but going to extent of changing baby's gender is rare approach...the fascination of having male child to take the heritage forward is markedly reduced...In yrkkh even if they are depicting gender bias for awareness purpose...showing KD weeping for Kittu's betterment and par pota isn't setting any good example...CVs are trying their level best to make people empathize with KD or to somewhere justify her old school thinking...they did same with Suwarna mata who was shown vamp with warm bg...nobody in today's world is saint...but making even 10% viewers empathize with wrong doers is wrong approach...

I think if i birth a child il be happy as long as its healthy but i am gender bias towards girls sorry but their clothing will be all pink and il dress em up every day

As for gender bias in general i know i have friends well lets not call them that people i know of that are so insistent on having son's first...

She was around my age with dadi-like thoughts 🤣(in general) as surprising as it sounds u still get idiotic people like this and shes educated super smart modern ...in all ways besides her thinking

she has told me that she doesnt care for a daughter only a son is important to her... she doesnt want a JKG😕 if u marry her u do what she does (prayers wise) or else...😕

I've not been watching the show lately because the values they are showing conflict with my own.

Sadly I think this issue is still prevalent in India in all classes educated or not. All we can do is change this way of thinking one person at a time by being a positive example. Encourage your daughters to study and become independent. From childhood teach them that they are worthy.

I love this ad. I wish Naira's character would change to a mature one to reflect a positive example to other women.

I have been telling myself to not see the serial.

I have missed the episodes since kartik going all pagal.

In my own city there are so many gender biased people. I have been targeted because of you are the girl and all..

But from what i am reading i still don't get dadi the one who made the whole house is against a girl child.

A post said about it being just a wish i didn't want to reply but that just wish leads to unwanted abortions , effect on thr mental health of the mother and even the child if it is very serious.

In some rare cases thw mother and daughter both are killed. So this just wish becomes very agressive when its not fullfilled .

Still i will stop myself from watching it...

I will read the forum to be updated.
