Akshara tells us how to take care of coma patients

When a person is in coma, it is not just him/her who suffers, but also his/her family and friends. The condition causes a lot of mental agony and physical stress.

Naitik from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, has slipped into a coma and Akshara has left no stone unturned to take care of her beloved husband. Besides managing her house, she is now successfully taking care of the family business too. She believes that one needs to be mentally strong while handling a loved one. She says, "When you arrive in front of our loved one, announce who you areor introduce yourself and speak casually and most importantly positively. Talk to them about your day, about the events that are happening around them as normally as you can. Don't cry in front of them and be strong. Be aware that everything you say in front of them might be heard and their brain can further be affected and therefore affect the chances of recovery."

Naitik's mother, Gayatri adds,"Show them your love, affection, care and support. Show them that they are needed and valued. Even just sitting beside them can provide great comfort to them. She also adds that great amount of medical care needs to be taken. It is important that the patient is kept in a clean and healthy environment., When a loved one is in coma and even if out he/she needs a lot of occupational and physiotherapy."
