The characters are still very much interwoven into one another, & this precisely has propelled the female protagonist to come forward to ACTUALLY SUPPLEMENT what she had promised in her wedding vows...
They are not separate so when Ak is taking up 'revolutionary' role, then its just that she's playing on as an extension of her husband, which is the need of the hour & the requirement of her obligations towards the relationship.
So fromwhere has this question of one gaining imp, over other arise(I'm talking in context of the characters!!)

I know even I felt a little weird with the donning of new avatar but that was on logical grounds of character sketch of her. But at the same time what is equally true is that in times of need,a person sheds & has to shed all his/her inhibitions & limits to overcome the larger impending urgency.

This is going to certainly cement the bond even further, specially once N realises the contribution Ak made during all this (even agnst her own wish of being totally dependent on everybody else.)
It is as much abt the relationship b/w the two as it was on day one of their marriage. It'll remain so.
