Oh! That feeling of Love

Despite all the commercialisation, telly actors still believe love is very much a part of Valentine's Day

Resshmi Ghosh
This year I haven't planned anything for Valentine's day. During my school days, it was a very special day and it was my dream to have someone to share it with. I still think of the day as one full of romance with lots of gifts and cards. An ideal Valentine's would be spent over a romantic candlelight dinner, with lots of pastries, cards and a long drive. When I was in college, I used to celebrate it with about seven-eight of my girlfriends. We would head to someone's house and order some food, put on some music and dance and have fun. This year the work pressure has increased but maybe I'll give a surprise or even get one!

Mouli Ganguly
I am going to be performing in a show in Udaipur this year for Valentine's day and so won't make it back in time. I am not a big believer in Valentine's day as I feel everyday can be made special for your loved one, if you really want to. If I'm with my boyfriend Mazhar, we usually end up going out for dinner or a movie but otherwise we don't plan anything special for this day.

Sanjeeda Sheikh
I haven't made any plans as yet. It's definitely a special day for couples, and more so for those who don't get to meet everyday. Aamir and I get to travel a lot together so we get to spend lots of time with each other. I think Valentine's is a very sweet concept and should be celebrated to reflect on all the good moments you've shared with your loved one.

Pushtie
Valentine's is another excuse to express more love towards someone. I feel everyday is Valentine's as I believe in love very strongly and I think it's what makes the world go round. On this day, everyone is in a mushy mood but we tend to forget to love ourselves. So this Valentine's is going to be only about me, (besides potential boyfriends). I want to spend time with myself and reflect on the past one year.

Valentine's day is a beautiful concept. It's a day to celebrate love and frankly shouldn't be subjected to just one day of the year, but we should show our love all the time. However, I feel we need this one day as people require a reminder to make time in their busy schedules for those they love. It's also an excuse to celebrate and party. I will be working through the day, as I'm really passionate about my work ' it's my first love.

Nandish Sandhu
I don't have any specific plans for the day and will probably just catch up with some friends. For me personally, Valentine's day means gifting close ones something they like. I usually give my friends chocolates on this day. Of course, for those in love it's a day they really wait for. Especially youngsters who have their eye on someone and want to confess their feelings to that person. It's basically a perfect day to show love.

Eijaz Khan
I don't believe in Valentine's day at all. In fact, I think it's all just bullshit!

Karan Mehra
This Valentine's is going to be extra special as it's my first official one with my fiance Nisha. The day means a lot to me as it is about celebration ' a day when people of all ages can express their love and spread happiness and peace. I haven't yet decided what I'll be doing but will definitely gift my love something.

Love tales from small screen

TNN, 14 February 2010, 12:00am IST

It's Valentine's Day and television is love-struck. Literally. Over the years we have seen numerous instances of on screen co-stars being struck by cupid in telly land.

Hyderabad Times speaks to a few on how they manage to retain their romance in spite of rigorous and erratic work schedules.

Karan Mehra (dating actor Nisha Rawal): I met Nisha when she was working in the film Hastey Hastey ' I had designed Nisha's outfits for the film. Our friendship slowly developed into romance and we stood by one another through difficult times. She was the one who convinced me to discontinue designing and focus on my acting career. She is the love of my life.

Mazher Sayyed (dating actor Moulli Ganguly): Between the two of us, Moulli is the romantic one. She insists that I surprise her with gifts, but finally she ends up choosing whatever she wants because she knows I'm no good at that. Our first V-Day, back in 2001, was a disaster because we couldn't get reservations at a restaurant and even failed to get food home-delivered. So we had instant noodles for dinner and muffins for dessert. Everyday is V-Day for us, but yes today, we'll do something special.

Rajesh Kumar (married to actor Madhavi): I believe that forced separation helps in keeping the romance in the relationship alive. As a couple, Madhavi and I spend 12 to 15 hours apart due to work commitments. But in a way it's good, because whenever we get time to be together, we cherish every moment and there is no time to fight. Today I'm shooting all day long. If Madhavi has planned something then it will be a surprise for me.

Ali Merchant (dating actor Sara Khan): If you worship your beloved then time or place don't matter when it comes to the romance in the relationship. There have been numerous instances when we haven't been able to meet due to our erratic work schedule. But the best part is, when I wrap up early I drop on the sets to meet her and vice versa. Plus, we often take off during the weekends whenever possible. It's romantic and helps us re-connect.
