I dont know if u r married or not but there will be many times when u have to accept and keep quiet for the sake of your husband or just to maintain the sanity of the family....I mite sound like I've been through hell or something 😆 but its not like that....just a few small lessons learnt in life & very lucky to be away from the day 2 day mess 😊

Thank you for ur 2 cents. I am not married but will keep this in mind when I do 😊.

Ya, I guess that is what they want to show by supporting the bahu. I dont relate to this at all so it is difficult for me to see such weak women.

Really, I just can't relate to such weak women!
But in mumbai I have come across lot of people and seeing couple of friends who are pretty educated and are fr well to do family and have a career. But I always have difference of opinion with them.... they think that making your husband help you with your household is not good........ My husband suggested me not to tell them that I help you all the time 'coz they don't get the whole point and they think i make him do the chores😕. If I tell my friend that so waht he is your "son" why can't he help you clean the dishes and she is like "no yaar, i can't make him do that"... If she makes her daughter do that work, why can't her son do it....that is so absurd.. specially woman putting her leg on axe thing! 😡 Its just hard to fit into my mind that why these standard rules are different for gilrs and boys in India... I understand long time back due to lack of education and stuff there were different norms, but now plp should be able to make their own decisions and should be able to figure out that its so frustrating for your daughter to think that just 'coz she is a girl she cannot have certain priviledges and fun and she has to do certain chores!! I wouls say ......in india some educated woman who does not want to be equal to men😕 highly illogical but true.... ..they just want to follow their men rather than walking together. it's its hard for me to figure out why?😕

We have to raise our girls better & make them stronger to face the dragons......just my 5cents

PS: whenever these things come up at home my hubby says.....They have been provided with the right of 'protecting' woman & they will execute this forever.😉&😊& but if they are not protecting we shd we strong enuff to kick them goodbye

I agree Tina. Its high time boys and girls are treated equally. Mothers not wanting their sons to work is forgivable but for men to take it for granted that women will do everything for them is just not pardonable. I feel like slapping such men.

its a culture thing Tina....we are much more independent here and since both of us work here and there r no servants and all that, we share responsibilities...infact I think its a good thing coz it brings us closer and we get to spend more time with each other....but in India I've seen that even if the girl is working its her duty to come home and cook and clean as well....I've seen that on my side of the family as well....infact my bua ji does that and even though I always tell her to be more sympathetic towrds her working DIL she doesnt want her to become lazy but my bro will not do a thing...just comes home, lays on the coutch and demands his chai!! dont know when that will change.....

Thank god I was never like selfless kaki...west coast raised snarky edged to give willies.😆😆 More like strong women with attitude 😃 Don't get me wrong but I believe all evil-doer shd be taught a lesson. I'm seduced by the idea of a man defending my honor and guarding my safety. It's chivalrous and sexy! Does that make me unfashionably old-fashioned.....nope.! Can I defend my own honor? Extract myself from a dicey situation? Yes. I can and I have. I'm a nice girl but not a weak girl. 😃 In india everybody is scared of confrontration..... yaar, ek baar hoga do baar hoga then everybody will know. But yes Ritu, I also believe in picking my battles...sometimes u have to let go if u are living with your ILS 24/7. They actually do a lot of hard work around the house so I have to be nice to them (selfish) but a nice girl 😆

well for me, I came a bit sheltered and didnt know the MIL nature...my dadi was the best MIL ever & my mom and chachi r really lucky...so had no idea abt the real world and once I came out of the HM bliss, there was a bit of a confusion phase and I became kaki-like...but not for long....coz I had a plane to catch and now I will never go back to even sympathazing with ppl like kaki....coz like u we have the ability to stand on our 2 feet and should do it...

Ritu, problem lies with the Indian girls ......MIL is saying I have to have a son....for pete's sake use your brain dear tell her loud & clear ......it is the man (your son) who effectively decides the sex of the baby not us women so why this taana business to girls.

My friends here tease me that I have a JKG but fine by me...... we both love & respect each other with ILS in B/w lol. I tell them .......About cooking n household work, why don't we think that we have Sanjeev Kapoor.......what I mean is at least now they are not ashamed of touching 'Tawa n Kadai"!! Maybe things are changing....ladies pl let it change!

Even today Indian janta does not like 'Gharjamai' n 'joru ka gulam'(definations may vary !!) so to an extent women in India like male dominence.
