respecting elders has nothing to do with covering ur head..and why is it just for the girl ? but this is a serious issue bec. Daddaji will have to change his age old thinking n come to terms with the new gen. which will be difficult for him..so for the time being, akshara will cover her head..

poor akshara.. shes probably expecting her in laws to be as modern as her parents house .. dey allowed varsha to walk arnd without wearing pallu... bt here akshara is told 2 keep d pallu on always...:S

of course it's uncomfortable wearing a saaree as well...but she's seen her mom n chachi dressing up tht way throughout their lives so it's nothing new for her..yes dadi gave varsha the permission but aksh knows daddaji will not like it..my point is tht the culture and traditions of the two families are not that different ..it's now tht maheshwari's have become slightly liberal (After varsha's entry) , otherwise dadi never asked rajshri and sunaina not to cover their head....may be they brought about this "liberal" thinking in Maheshwaris to show tht a girl never gets the same atmosphere in her in her sasural what she gets in her parents home..it's impossible..

so guys, i am trying to understand this...sorry if my question is silly...

is pallu part of culture or religion or both?
