Karan Mehra is busy working around the clock and the news of his nomination in the Naya Sadasya category for the Star Parivar Awards came as a big surprise to him. He says, "I didn't expect to be nominated at all as the show has just begun. Still, it's a stepping stone for me in the television industry and I'm more than pleased." 
So what is it about Nehtik, the character he plays, that got him noticed? "Frankly, it's not me alone. All the characters together help connect with the masses. Nehtik's persona is very realistic and relates with the youth today in matters of a boy wanting to stand on his own two feet. He's chasing his dream girl and trying his level best to pursue her. In a way, viewers look forward to seeing what he's up to next," he says.
As for his chances of winning against the other nominees, Karan says, "I haven't thought of it at all. For me, being appreciated by the masses is an award in itself. If it's in the cards then well and good; if not, it really wouldn't make much of a difference to who and what I am today."
With regards to him performing onstage, Mehra replies ecstatically, "Yes, I am performing. As far as I know, there are two acts. But the songs haven't been chosen yet. You will have to just wait and watch."
