Hi All,

I noticed a lot of our Forum members are really good writers. They are good at writing stories which have depth and interesting plot lines.

And a lot of them are fairly good at dialogues (In English and in Hindi). However, some of us who are very good are good storytelling skills in our mother tongue are not so sure about writing in English or writing some of the dialogues in Hindi. (I notice a lot of people excusing for not being sure about how correctly their Hindi dialogues are).

I was thinking about helping some of them with the proof reading or being a beta reader. As a writer, I am perfectly aware of how a good beta reader (with decent editing skills if you are lucky enough) can change the quality of the final draft.

I am fairly good in Hindi and am ready to check a few dialogues if anyone needs help with Hindi dialogues. (Fairly good = near native).

It will be nice if there are a few more people who are good at Hindi are ready to pitch in as all of us are working/studying and sometimes there might be a lag in the response time.

All native Hindi speakers, we can make a group of beta readers/proof readers of Hindi Dialogues when someone needs the help.

Your thoughts?

Hi..i am a new member here as i recently started watching this show and just 2 days ago got to the current timeline of the show( as i had been watching it from the beginning)
I saw your post here and it totally makes sense to me. I am Ayesha, a dental surgeon by profession and a freelance web content writer by chance. I am very good at English and Urdu ( Urdu being my mother tongue) and almost good at Hindi ( thanks to the hindi serials and movies and Hindi being closely similar to Urdu).
So yea, I am also in for any proof reading or editing required by anyone in these 3 languages.. 😊

Ayesha,

Thanks for responding. I guess we can try to fix a schedule in which we can make sure we do this without affecting our other commitments.

I was meaning to make this post for a long time now but had no time to spare for this. After a long time, my schedule is on track and I am getting a clear time for reading and writing (apart from doing my work and spending time on internet on IF or Twitter).

I have studied Hindi in school and completed a few other special Hindi exams. I have been reading, speaking and writing in this language (It is not my mother tongue) for more than three decades now.

I have started learning Urdu during my University days when I was a part of a theatre group. It was part of diction training and once started, it was a matter of continuing on my own. Considering the rich "Tehjeeb" the language offers, it was hard to not follow it even after the need for diction training was long past.

Let's hope there are a few more who will be interested to join us and we can be of help to some talented folks in our own small way.

AD,

As a matter of fact, your post was lovely. It is usual for a non native speaker for knowing only enough Hindi as they listen in films or TV serials. (Remember, the famous song from "Ej duje ke liye" in which Kamal Haasan sings a song which was entirely made up of film names? He is supposed to not know the language in the film.)

That is an excellent notion and a very thoughtful one too! I am available for any kind of help our talented writers need in any way. I love to read the ffs on other forums and it will be an honour for me to help someone out in the projection of their beautiful ideas in any manner they want. 😊
You are right about the tehzeeb that Urdu offers. It is a very refined and rich language and it will be a pleasure for me to help someone who might be struggling with it.
