Hi Guys, another long post 😆
I have been reading various posts about the diary and the fantasy girl Mukhi "dreamed of and some scenes that people think are "fillers or out of character so I just wanted to post my thoughts because there is no one post I can address it all, I had to make a new one :) I think people have taken this diary way too seriously and in a wrong manner, they see it as Mukhi falling for this mystery diary girl and that's not the case at all. Guys to Mukhi this diary is a self-help book, it's a guide, it's a best friend, it's the only thing he has that offers him any clue as to what women think about, act like, enjoy etc.
Take a step back and see it this way, we all grow up with friends, TV, movies, social media showing us all this knowledge about relationships and understanding the opposite sex but put yourself in Mukhi's shoes, he has no close friends, no family, no TV, nothing to show him anything to do with women or how to "date, who does he have to talk to about these things, Mustana lol?! You know how people go to a bookstore to get reference books on subjects they don't know about, that's what this diary is, it's a reference book on women to Mukhi, it is a window into a woman's mind that he has never had access too. It is best seen in that phone call he made to Aru and he said are all girls the same, it's like he is testing out the information in the book and applying it to real world situations
What we are doing is confusing the love Mukhi has for the words and content of the diary with the author of the diary. We all have friends we go to for advice right, we respect them, we admire them, we like the knowledge and wisdom they have to give us but does that mean we love them as well, of course not, we love the advice not the person giving it. That is what this diary is for Mukhi, he enjoys the wisdom but isn't transferring his admiration for the words into feelings for the author, we as viewers are doing that.
We are transferring our feelings about this so called mystery diary girl onto Mukhi because we are so over protective of our Aru, we have a short term memory ;) Mukhi has done nothing to indicate he has any feelings for this author, we have done that, we only remember the current episodes it seems and not the past lol, remember it is a simple as one scene for me, this says it all: the scene after Aru ate the galub jamun and walks away to leave Mukhi forever, and Sanvi tells Muhki that she is right for him and what does Mukhi say, he says "I know... that's it, end of story. There is never going to be anybody past present or future that will be right for Mukhi as Aru, he knows that already, he just can't admit it is love, yet. There is no room for anybody else including diary girl in Mukhi's world, he knows Aru is right for him
He has no emotional bond with this book, you don't see him shut his eyes or stare at the book with love, look at the way he looks at Aru intensely and then when he read something in the diary, he admires the words for their intelligence like he is reading something insightful, nothing more. He is protective of the book because it's his only resource he has and he is also embarrassed about it, a 42 yr old man reading a woman's diary, that's why he hides it from Aru and everybody not because he is in love with diary girl! When I am reading a book fiction or non-fiction, I visualize the characters in my head, I like seeing the people in my head as I read, but that doesn't mean I have feelings for them, they are just a representation of the words I am reading, the physical person itself is meaningless, they are a robot come to life to help me "see the words I am reading, that's the diary girl for him, just someone to represent the words he is reading, no feelings are attached to that image.
If they had Aru as that woman with the veil, that would be way too big a jump for Mukhi to make or the serial to make because that's a big sign of love, it is too early to have Aru start dominating his dreams, we have Aru dreaming of Mukhi, we don't need Mukhi doing the same lol ;) So the CV's are doing what they have done all along, playing it slowly and of course we all wanted that dream girl to be Aru but not yet too early. So let's put our knives away and guns and bombs ready to wreak vengeance on the woman in the veil come to life from the diary and let's also take a step back from taking his connection to the diary so deeply, it's his "friend that gives him advice, nothing more.
Now onto the episodes that have scenes of Aru seeing Mukhi in various outfits, roles, looks and the fart scene that people think are "fillers; these scenes aren't fluff, nor are they out of character for Mukhi, at heart remember this is a love story of opposites, of young/older, city/country, different society upbringing etc, but connected by morals, ethics, values, souls, so the CV's have allowed this to evolve slowly. They are not going to throw in superfluous scenes for the sake of it, what they are trying to do is for every scene that they show Mukhi in Aru's dream sequences as some modern hero, they follow it up with something that reminds her of his reality.
For example the farting scene, right before that, she was dreaming of him as SRK so immediately the CV's juxtaposed the next scene to show that Mukhi is a "son of the earth type, so it showed him doing what all guys do, he was gargling and spit out the water and he farted, exactly what you would expect in a village, it wasn't out of character or a filler at all. I am a man, don't you think in my own house and room I fart no matter who is around, it's my house, I'll do what I want, I am not going to hold it in! It was meant to be funny but once again to show that Mukhi will not ever be the modern hero Aru dreams of and she is becoming aware of that and is growing more mature in her definition of "love, albeit very slowly.
There are 3 current examples that show this maturation of what she thinks "love is; remember when she walked into the scene with the lights and candles and chole, and it was all filmy romantic, she said this all seems nice but this was stuff I liked when I was younger not now, I am different now. This shows that her younger version of love isn't the same as it is now, Mukhi's actions have started influencing her. Second small scene of her maturing, when she was drinking tea with Mukhi and she finally tries it his way by slurping it and you see her face as she stares at him, like a light dawns on her face of understanding, she changed from thinking it was such an old traditional thing to understanding why he does it and she enjoyed it as well, a step forward for her in seeing Mukhi differently than before. Finally, to me a very powerful scene was when she was ashamed that Mukhi had carried her naked in the shower, remember how she was not wanting to face him, she stood there crying, what line does Mukhi say that finally made her turn around and run into his arms...it is when he said I am a son of the earth, connected to it, and on that earth I swear I would never cross any boundaries...that's the line that made her heal from her hurt and run to him.
The CV's are constantly trying to show her slow gradual evolution of her vison of love maturing, so all these scenes we see of her fantasizing and Mukhi doing things that deliberately over-emphasize his villager ways are not just for laughs or fillers as some people think, they serve a deeper purpose in having her vision of love mature and to see him as the real Mukhi. She already has come to rely on him as her protector and will take care of her, that's a big step for someone who never depended on anyone, remember before they went on the bike ride with Aru driving, he said she will fall, and her answer was, I am not worried, I know you will take care of everything and handle it...so in future scenes that seem silly, try to see the subtleties the CV's are trying to imply, if we love this slow burn of a story then we have to give them the benefit of the doubt for what seem to be "silly filler scenes too 😆
These are just my thoughts and insights, being a man I think I understand a bit better that us men don't really get attached about women we read about. Women have a far more vivid imagination and get attached to characters in books, movies, etc so I think if you guys see it from a man's view, his attachment to the diary isn't the same attachment a woman would have to the dairy written by a man, we can separate the words from the author a bit easier, not generalizing, just an observation 😉
