@Spartan187, beautiful writing. Loved everything you wrote. Nothing more to add. You are absolutely right about that diary being his confidante at this point. With each passing day as Aru is seeing him for what he is from her filmy imagination Mukhiji will also realize the girl in the diary he admired is none other than his wife.

First indication of that merge was when they both recite that kavita which he dismissed, second one he saw Aru falling from sofa in her sleep then after he put the mattress by the sofa he was waiting for her to fall as he was reading it (I'm not a native hindi speaker so I must have missed the dialogs altogether) and him arranging the dinner after reading the diary. And her journey also started from you cute to how good you are. Its a slow realization and that's the beauty of this story.

Hi Lacustris, my name is Wally btw :)

Great points about how the merging is unfolding, thru small gestures but careful observation by both about each others habits. I don't think there was any dialogue in that scene about her falling from sofa onto the mattress, it was all done thru gestures which i think was one of the beauties of the scene, just smiles and body language but I watch the show in Vancouver so maybe I missed out on it as well.

I think I've said this again and again but the CVs of this show are brilliant... they are doing things in a almost perfect manner.. I agree with you that no scenes are filler scenes.. they all serve a wider purpose which is so nice to see.

Thanks for your analysis and look forward to reading more!

Thanks for the kind words Kohli :) This is one of the rare forums where ppl express themselves, offer great insights and encourage writing whereas others complain if the post is longer than few sentences lol!

This forum has a few men which is rare so it makes for a great balance of posts here so i am glad you enjoyed it, hopefully you will post your thoughts as well so i can read your viewpoints :)

Hi Wally its nice knowing you. I'm Raji and from US. I watch it online too.
Thought he was reading an entry from the diary and she falls.
But it's ok.. I'm all for slow realization and the way Mukhiji character is unfolding is a great watch. The best ever.

completely agree with u!
thanks for sharing Mukhiji's POV..even I think the diary is just a guide for him..to know more about women..and it was clear when he tried to relate the preferences written in the diary to Aru's ones...so he was trying to find out if all girls have same dreams and choices..we saw Mukhiji arranging the dinner and asking Aru if she also has small wishes like other girls..and about his imagination..well this is how he is..he is a village guy..so his imaginations wont be filmy type which is justified..

to be honest when that fart scene happened I found it natural..in fact it was very real!

Hello Wally...read your post today. Great article and very good insight into subtleties...I also never thought that Mukhi dreamt up any dairy woman..it was his first understanding of how a female mind can possibly think.
He has 3 sisters, but they are very different from the way the diary woman is manifesting herself from the book, she is a deep thinker, responsible for her family and a writer...a woman very different from his sisters and the women he probably sees in the village. Also the diary woman is from a city, since he picked the diary in Ahmedabad. For him, its his way of understanding that city girls are not all that rash and thoughtless as he used to think earlier. And he is using that knowledge to give more margin to Aru.

Good post and was great reading !

If Mukhi is learning women thru a diary, that diary should be given to all men...cause us women are hardest to understand maybe Eijaz should take a copy home

Lovely analyse by the way
