So we knew from the time Aru and family arrived in Amboli that Arjan and Shivu were conducting some illegal business, and that they'd been doing it for so long that they no longer feared being caught (Arjan's description).
Now this week we've learnt that Rami is also involved with them, 😲 and that this is a well established thing! Not actually surprising seeing as Rami wants to give Mukhi a very bad name and have the villagers disrespect and hate him, and then herself replace him as the head of the village. 😡
What do you think their illegal business is? Alcohol? Illicit drugs? Gunpowder? They could be smuggling something - Kutch is a bordering part of India so it could be some cross-border smuggling. Something dry and powdery like drugs or gunpowder could be possible as they are working in a masala factory, so it wouldn't be as difficult to hide packets of dry things like this disguised among masala packets.
Or maybe it could be alcohol? I say this because they did make a point of specifying that alcohol is illegal in Gujarat when Aru, Mukhi and Mishri were staying at the dharmshala in Ahmedabad (remember the scene when some tourists were actually asking the manager for Aru but were saying what sounded like "daaru"? That was so funny, especially when Mukhi asked the manager if he was selling alcohol on the side! 🤣)
Anyway, now, suddenly enter three pregnant ladies on Aru's second day in the factory (not the previous day when she first went there) who are all conveniently at the 8-month mark! (Staggering the timing would have been better!) I bet anything Arjan had them (some of his trusted illegal work participants) pretend to be heavily pregnant for either or both of the following obvious reasons (and a not-so-obvious reason, number 3 below! 😉) :
1) They could very well be transporting the illegal goods in their fake pregnant bellies and all said they are 8 months along to justify having large bellies (again, staggering the timing would have been so much better and less suspicious!).
2) He thought Aru would want them to do some light work once she saw them doing heavy work in the factory. Then, he could send them off to do the illegal work while the boss lady and the other workers were there with Aru in the main work area.
They all had their faces covered up so Aru wouldn't see who they were, which she wouldn't find weird as they wouldn't want to get masala in their faces, and so they could turn up later on other days and not be pregnant anymore without Aru knowing they were the ones who were "pregnant" earlier.
It certainly appears that most of the ladies working there are not (knowingly) involved in illegal activities as the ones who spoke to Aru are scared of going to the place where she followed Lalji. This place is likely where Arjan is getting the illegal stuff done.
At this point, I would like to acknowledge Arjan for getting ArMu discussing pregnancy! That scene was hilarious! 😆 Arjan doesn't realise it but he has joined RamLal as one one ArMu's biggest supporters, so thanks for reason number 3:
3) Arjan is already a mausa (uncle = mum's sister's husband) to Rami's son, Kishan, and is about to become a mama (uncle = mum's brother) to Saanvi's yet-to-be-born baby. Maybe Arjan secretly wants to become a fufa (uncle = dad's sister's husband) to an ArMu baby now? Thanks for getting ArMu talking about pregnancy, maybe thinking about the future (LONG way off, but it's a start!) 😆
What do you all think? What are RaJan (Rami-Arjan) up to? Are those 3 ladies really pregnant?
For the answers to these and more pressing questions (such as when will Mukhi stop two-timing Aru and the Diary Girl? Will the masala boss lady ever smile or do any actual work? Will Lalji ever be able to live in peace or will he be in hiding for ever? Is Arjan, gaon ka sabse durjan, going around impregnating village ladies? When will Arjan's secret dream of becoming a fufa be fulfilled?), turn in to YMMKD, 7 pm Monday to Friday on Sony Entertainment Television (or online as the case may be!) 😉
UPDATE: Illegal surrogacy could be at play here also, as suggested by Mannu below (great suggestion, Mannu! 👍🏼), in which case the ladies really are pregnant. It will be interesting to see what is actually going on, although my money is on alcohol smuggling (more profit, less time consuming). So much mystery!
