I think Mukhi explained in one ep Gorani are people who get marriage alliances fixed. Basically what Aru is :D Also they are supposed to be older as per him.

If you watched a show called Yeh rishta on Star, there was this old lady (forgot her name) who would carry photos/profiles of girls and boys and go to diff houses to do match making.
