Shama Sikander, the lead actress of Sony's Ye Meri Life Hai (she plays Pooja), has flown to Florida for surgery to treat chronic sinusitis — a problem she has had to bear for the last three years. The operation is scheduled for today.
Speaking to hitList from Florida on Saturday, Shama said her sinus ailment was so bad, she had problems breathing. "I have a blocked nose almost everyday, and that's terribly frustrating. Also, I could not sit in an air-conditioned room for long. The surgery will solve the problem." Family in touch
The actress, who featured in blink-and-miss appearances with Fardeen Khan in Prem Aggan and Aamir Khan in Mann, before opting for television, said she was in safe hands because her aunt, an ENT surgeon in Florida, will perform the procedure.
"My mother, father and brother were to join me, but stayed back in Mumbai because of some urgent work. I know they won't worry ebcause they know that someone from the family will be in charge. Anyway, they are constantly in touch through the phone and messages." Dandiya add-on
Shama will rest in Florida at her aunt's home for a few days, but may not be able to resist letting her hair down for bit of Navratri celebrations, if her health permits. "I might have a fling with dandiya raas here. Let's see how I feel after the operation," she said, hopefully. Episodes banked
"I shot for extra episodes to build a bank so that Optimystix (producers of the show) is not under pressure, when I am away. I am coming back to Mumbai on October 24. After that, it will be the same old shooting schedules of YMLH," added the actress. |
