So she being afraid of her family knowing the truth which will be leading to getting away from him is selfish? I guess people here really need to checkout the word selfish in the dictionary

i dont think naina is selfish ... she is scared if her family got to know about the whole scenario might be go against her study and her relation with sameer . she told sameer if chachaji come to know he will also go against the relation... even sameer think his mummy words about naina being selfish & about his career. they have only chachaji's support for relation and chachaji also took promise from them to not cross any limits of relation but naina crossed her limits to give assurance to sameer about the relation and he is always her 1st priority ... sameer always hide things from naina to protect her... but this always create mess in their relationship... chachaji is only one support and mein support and they dont want to lose them..that why sameer took big decision ... if he told naina about all convo between he and prinic and he really got punishment ... naina herself took her name to save sameer from punishment...even in music room naina was ready to face princi but sameer ask her to run ... and now he hide all from her ... if naina is selfish .. sameer also selfish...coz he is doing all this things for his love and his relation to save from humiliation...

Girls today as well can't just leave their families for love. They don't just loose respect in the eyes of society or family for choosing love above them , but they also loose their sense of worth in our society because our society, especially society as it was a decade earlier as well; measures the honor and deserving respect of a girl by what her family and people around her think of. Naina can end up giving her life to Sameer in name of their love except it wouldn't do anything helpful. Sameer's privileged position in society allows him to deal with incidents as such with much more lenient consequences. Sameer can loose a whole year, except next time someone finds out why he lost that year, people would excuse it by saying he's a boy, the girl probably lured him, or him getting appreciated by his peers if not his close friends for getting that advantage. I think that even though Sameer's insecurity in these situations have increased in regards with their compatibility, these are also moments where he has take into account what a girl like Naina represents and what he is willingly choosing. I think blaming naina isn't wholly correct either. The root of Sameer's insecurity isn;t Naina. Whenever Naina could've been there for him, she tried her level best to communicate with him but his problems are rooted more with the abandonment of his own mother, him not getting any acceptance by a family that her mother adopted, and him loosing his grandfather so early when he was the only person who accepted him. Naina's relationship with him isn't that of a caretaker like all those other relationships were. While Sameer isn't naina's caretaker either, he has the privilege to use his designated position by society to help Naina. Naina however can't help Sameer or make things better. She can simly help him develop a new identity from those wounds. I hope I make some sort of sense.
In conclusion lol, i think this whole giving up your life and taking blame for each other equally is a grey area because of the consequences differing for both of them.

As far as makers and story telling is considered we don't want a doormat naina but obviously we don't want selfish and self centred naina either... They have messed up her character completely... And family naina ki school time pr bhi aisi thi but tb naina Zara bhi selfish nhi thi ...it was she who made us fall in love with the show... So we had once seen best version of naina but now can't blindly follow her like ppl here do... Our opinion about Naina is slightly different than yours and sharing on public platform is not a crime
