Probably cos he wants to marry her off so he's free from whatever responsible he has & taiji just helped him out in that matter. Naina was just a bhojh for him anyway. He never cared about her future so I doubt he'd care now. Him being a villain in samaina's relationship is more believable than being an (unintentional) cupid. Even naina's VO mentioned before that sameer & rakesh didnt get along, even in future.
