Minu - I can read in your words how much your sensitivity was affected by this...

First, forgive me, but I did laugh at the line when you tell that Sameer failed in judging and critiquing Shakespeare - not in terms of literature, but it seemed for a moment that a teacher commented on a student.

Second, I couldn't help but notice that on his first day at the radio station Sameer said "naam me kya rakha hai... firbhi agar bulana chahte hai, to pyaar se aap mujhe Prem bula sakte hai."
And today he says that "naam me to sab kuch rakha hai."
Dialogue writers contradicted themselves... and somehow this sprung to my mind as soon as I watched the episode.

Now about your post, I completely agree to your point about the name being identity of a person. Initially it might not mean anything if I am not related or connected to the person in anyway. But the most simple thought one can put here is if you are introducing yourself, how would you do it. The first thing you mention is your name. So, basically with the passage of time name does mean a lot.

I really enjoyed reading the analysis Minu... 😊 And I agree to you, they missed a chance to give a proper tribute to a great writer and poet.

I don't care about all those H and M...But these soap people seriously twist theories according to their own mood swings..Arey!There are people who are spending their nights and days researching about the same, going to the depth of each syllable..It kinda upset me.
Hhaha..I always end up being a teacher 😆 Afterall thats what my career dream is.😳 Glati ki hai bahut badi..saamne hota to ek thappad lagati.

Thanks Mou for appreciating 😃 They tried to portray Sameer as having great, hatke thoughts but CVs forgot that Shakespeare is relevant in post modern times too.

Thanks Minu for such an informative post.
I agree about the name being our identity. I don't expect CVs to do any research on all these. They will easily contradict themselves, forget what they themselves showed 🥱 Just irritates me when these kind of things happen.

I didn't like it when Sameer said, naam mein kya rakha hai ? Arrey.. you become a parent and you'll know😆. The parent spends so much time and energy in finding a meaningful name for the child and the child grows up and says naam mein kya rakha hai. 😳

Nicely written Minu...
Though I like reading, have never read classics or analysed them... But your posts each time helps increase my knowledge.. thanks for writing them...

N yes, a rose called by any other name still remains a rose, but once the name becomes a person's identity, it's everything for that person. I have seen my daughter get irritated when people write or pronounce her name wrong... I never understood the reason for that... But now I get it ..

In the past its it's happened with me too.. wrong spelling or wrong pronounciation... But it never affected me..

Name or attributes???

For me, attributes is a Face of your name. Though you are remembered by your name but in reality its your attributes which is remembered and which has a name that is your name.
Like you mentioned minu, even if you change your username, your work will be recognized and then your work will be named as Minu's write up. So its is your attributes.
I met few people in party, I introduced myself with my name. Later, I came up with fun game, dance moves and lot more. After few days, those people were discussing about party and do remember me because of the fun they had with me but fail to recall my name. So they remember me by my attributes. Now again when I meet them and tell them my name, my name will be registered because my attributes are registered. So for me its your attributes which has a name that is your actual name.
Sameer dialogues I guess was depends on time. At that time he doesn't want anyone to know. Later he does want everyone to know or Naina to know that its him.

I really love your write up dear!

Thanks Nivi for the appreciation 😃 In order to show 'hatke' they end up screwing up big time.🥱 Hhaha..Your call to Sameer 😆 Pehle baap bano phir jaap buno..😆 Yeaah name do define our personality to some extent and hence parents try to instill the attributes according to name many of times..Thats why we Indians have gods and goddess's name given to most of children..😳

Thanks Jallopy for your beautiful appreciation 😃 Missed seeing you here and your comments on my posts.😳 Your daughter's plight is quite relatable to me because I often find people mispronouncing and misspelling my name..Over the years I have realised that behind our name there lies a sense of 'identity ego'. Which when taken wrongly brings out our wrath.😳

Beautiful post Minu..your posts are like a little window for us to peep in the world of English Literature...

Believe me, but Bollywood and especially Indian TV have hardly ever researched the front and back story of this famous line by Shakespeare...they have always used, I would rather say misused it as per their convenience, anytime whenever they wanted to they have hit this line on audience's face, in order to show the character as a "well-versed, "thinking intellectual. Alas! They never took the efforts to go deeply and check out the back story behind and see if it is really suitable for the particular character to use this line or will it look forced...somehow I felt Sameer's scene nothing different...forced on the face of audience...

Name as you said is important...it is like a label to our attributes..our deeds/works are the ones which will be remembered by people, but how they symbolize these attributes to a person..hence Name helps them to do so...

And nowadays in this fake world of copying, plagiarism and copyrights, I have started strongly believing in having proper name for works...cause today if a writer/poet/blogger/researcher takes the risk of writing things anonymously there are more than 70% chances that somebody would amazingly get "inspired by it and earn recognition...calling it as his attribute...

Anyway lovely post...sorry for changing the course of the discussion

Savy! You got me right on notes and trust me Shakespeare would have really got impressed with your depth of understanding his said lines.😃 I once wondered why children are named after Gods and Goddesses mostly in Indian culture? And then I realised that parents want the same attributes as divine lords in their children..So you see even our names have hidden motives of performing attributes.Name is just the face value and its the attribute /personality that ennobles our place values.😳
