Your post reminds of Aamir Khan blissfully dancing in his college campus on finding Sonali Bendre's handkerchief cum scarf in his college library with a wonderful ghazal playing in the background Hoshwalon ko khabar kya'. Handkerchiefs as rightly said by you have played an important role in stories, especially in love stories. Maximum love stories have shaped around a handkerchief and Sameer- Naina's story is no different. The series of exchange of rumaals started with the ink spill on Sameer's shirt and it went up to soothing his wound yesterday.
If one handkerchief has wiped Naina's stain then the other had soothed Sameer's wound. In the olden times or even till late 90s handkerchiefs were a starter of many love stories. I have seen it in many movies and read it in many stories that how exchange of rumaals led to stealing glances and ignited a fire between people. Handkerchief was also a reminder of the loved one who was far away from us. In Sarfarosh Aamir Khan had kept her handkerchief for years with him.
Unfortunately we don't get to see such stories anymore where people exchange rumaals. Movies and stories lack depth. This show has kept the legacy atleast.
