Your post reminds of Aamir Khan blissfully dancing in his college campus on finding Sonali Bendre's handkerchief cum scarf in his college library with a wonderful ghazal playing in the background Hoshwalon ko khabar kya'. Handkerchiefs as rightly said by you have played an important role in stories, especially in love stories. Maximum love stories have shaped around a handkerchief and Sameer- Naina's story is no different. The series of exchange of rumaals started with the ink spill on Sameer's shirt and it went up to soothing his wound yesterday.

If one handkerchief has wiped Naina's stain then the other had soothed Sameer's wound. In the olden times or even till late 90s handkerchiefs were a starter of many love stories. I have seen it in many movies and read it in many stories that how exchange of rumaals led to stealing glances and ignited a fire between people. Handkerchief was also a reminder of the loved one who was far away from us. In Sarfarosh Aamir Khan had kept her handkerchief for years with him.

Unfortunately we don't get to see such stories anymore where people exchange rumaals. Movies and stories lack depth. This show has kept the legacy atleast.

Ahh this from Sarfarosh is just melody to the ears.Yes..That was a lovely scene of Aamir.Beautiful observation and inferences.👏👏@Bold: This line has such depth.❤️

i dont like reading books or havent read any English plays but your wiring motivates me to try to read... not sure when I'll start reading though...
u have really explained the importance of handkerchief and how it has played a role in Samaina's life. however, i have a different story to this. I am North Indian... and its some kind of superstition that if u give ur old/used hanky to anyone you will end up on bad terms with them... i never used to believe it. but i have had bitter experiences with people who meant a lot to me and some where old handkerchief exchanges were involved... so though i m not superstitious to this extent, but since few things happened i started believing that hankys shudnt be exchanged... and also on the other hand gifting new handkerchiefs is considered auspicious (strange 😆)

Amazing post as always... The hanky holds a big place in their story... The hanky he gave her to wipe her tears when she cried as Rakesh refused to attend the pta meeting... She threw it away... Bt he took it and treasured it as it had her precious tears... He has some kind of connection with her hanky's... Even before he realized his love for her, he did keep her hanky's with him... Yesterday's hanky scene showed how much every single thing about her matters to him... How precious that hanky was for him as it was given by her... By tying it on his forehead, he showed that as long as she's with him nothing wrong can happen... Loved her smile when he did that... She understood what he wanted to say... Loved how they used a hanky to show the love and trust between two people ❤️

Minu, your posts are always a treasure to read 👏

There is one Hindi song which I want to post here. It is based on a Hanky 😃
I can so imagine Sameer singing this song with Naina's Hanky in his hand.
