Today Sameer's silence after the bet boys revealed about the bet made every viewer question about why he was silent. Why did he not stay back and convince Naina about everything that happened? Why did he walk away without saying anything?

This is my view about his silence:

Not every person can articulate their thoughts. Not every person can give words to their feelings.

Sameer has always been lonely. Right from childhood He had no one to listen to his feelings. He has grown up keeping all his feelings within himself. He probably does not even know how to voice out what he feels. Even with his Nanu, he hardly shares anything about what is happening within himself. Most of the times, his Nanaji understands his silences.

Today was very overwhelming for Sameer. Being disowned by his own mother, he was a completely broken soul. It is only after Naina's continuous pressing that he shared with her what had happened.

And then he suddenly sees that Naina crossed her own set boundaries, touched him physically and confessed her love to him. Before he could react to this, the bet boys just barged him and acted like total jerks.
And then Naina confronted him about the truth.

With so much happening, he could not find words to console her, convince her that though the bet started him to be friendly with her, yet over time he really likes her.

And he took the easiest way out of the situation by walking away.

I am not defending him nor am I blaming him.

Some situations just happen and one is left speechless after that. People need time to assemble their thoughts and then present it through words.
For Sameer, it is even more difficult as he has never voiced out his thoughts aloud till now.

But the good thing is, (considering how the narrator of the show has shared many tiny details about Sameer with us,) I think Sameer did slowly open up to Naina and he did share his deepest thoughts and feelings with her over time.

I think staying silent was the only thing Sameer could do. He betrayed the sweetest purest soul he has ever known. Staying back to offer explanations would mean there was some justification for his action where as he feels there is none.
So he chose to remain silent...not offering any excuses in his defense...his guilt and self-loathing at that point is so great he can't even look Naina in the eyes.

I appreciated the fact that Naina didn't simply take the boys at their word...rather she wanted Sameer to tell her if it was the truth. This shows how completely she trusted him. If he had said no, she would have believed him. He was her world.

Unfortunately this also means that her heartbreak is going to be even deeper.

I feel bad for both of them.

And here we are sometimes forgetting with flow of the story that they are just 16 17 years old teenagers...
How much clarity of thought can u have at that point of time?
Still I would say they both are quite matured owing to the circumstances that they have grown up in.

So true. Sometimes silence is so much better than words.

Also Naina was too emotional. Anything Sameer would have said would look artificial.

I wish that it was Sameer who had told her the truth. But unfortunately it was disclosed to her in the most cruel and crude way.

Yes. They are still kids. Sameer is still the lost child looking for his mother's love

And Naina too is so young. Her heartbreak is going to be so overwhelming for her.

Exactly..
And as you said Sameer doesn't even open up about his turmoil and his feelings with his Nanu... who will guide him at such a crucial point in his life..

What I like in this show especially about how Sameer is characterized is that they haven't shown him the perfect hero material that he is Mr.Goody Two Shoes...
He has his flaws, he makes mistakes, some small some grave, sometimes owns up sometimes doesn't... a teenage boy who doesn't understand what path to follow ...

What is right and what is wrong..

Confession,Revelation and Confrontation..How much mess can a boy of raged temper and hot blood can handle? He chose to walk away and clear his mind...There are tough times ahead and he always have been left dumbfounded by Naina's love, care, passion or anger..
Clearing mind was definitely the finest option before clearing the mess.

Well said.
Sameer going away like that is not surprising. You are right, he has probably never shared his sorrows with anyone including Nanu. Only with Naina he has shared his inner feelings.

He receives blow after blow from morning. what else will a 17 yr old boy do ? Running away is the easiest thing and he chose that since he has no idea how he is going to face her and what he will tell her. Even if he stayed she wouldn't be in a position to listen to him since she was in shock herself. I only wish M or P stayed back with her instead if running behind Sameer.

Wat did we except from sameer? He will say I love you ? Naahhh..
The boy was beaten up by rakesh sir without no fault..Then sweater made him so guilty n confused then his parents behavior. Which made him heartbroken n then naina confession.. he was shocked with all happenings. He tried to say naina muje tumhe kuch btana hai but before that rival gang came n reveal about bet. Bechara kya krta ? He had no words left. Use nahi samaj aya kya kare kya kahe. In last wahi hua jiska use darr tha.

I've seen many 17 year old boys act similarly during an emotional moment, actually even boys that are older as well! It's ok that Sameer doesn't have the emotional maturity to deal with all this - he's just a kid after all.

But I think what would have helped the scene is the narration. They need to bring back the narrator asap!! A couple of episodes without her, and you can really see the difference. She always explains the thoughts and actions of the characters so well, it really adds to their performances and helps us understand their actions better.
