Hi,

I am a silent member of this forum for many years now...Now I am here for a specific reason ...asking for a favor from u all...

This forum is known for its protest and making hot top trends in twitter...we need your Support for the same but for a different cause - to support "jallikattu"...more than that to support our farmers...

So Please Just spare a few minutes for Tamilnadu...

I am a tamilian.. so I have my own emotional sentiments attached with it.. my pride (u can also call it as ego) attached with it.. I accept ...but I am not here to ask for your blind support...I just wanted to explain the truth behind jallikattu , the actual reason for we demanding it, the politics behind the ban and last asking for YOUR SUPPORT (only if u are convinced with the reasons and the fairness of our protest)

The national media are projecting "jallikattu" as just a mere game and we are fighting for our pride...Yes we have our 1000 years of history attached with it...and we take extreme pride in our history ..No second thoughts...

But for onlookers if the "Jallikattu" or should be rightly pronounced as "Yearuthazhuvuthal" (meaning - Embracing of bulls) is projected just as any other game, then the only thought they will have is "cruelty" the bulls are subjected to just for the entertainment purpose and our feelings will be considered as "EGO" and "Arrogance". Even if we are at our arrogant best, the whole state without any political background will not rise up just for the heck of it.

Truth behind "Jallikattu" :

Jallikattu has its origin from multiple reasons.

a) Protecting local breads, no one wants to own a male cow (technically not so useful except for farming and breading). Number will always be small in community. So we need some way to make it financially beneficial for the farmers to grow one, and be self-reliant/sufficient.

b) A way of practicing warrior skills: Bulls definitely a better candidate to practice, which has more power and provide tough enough competition for any human, and yet domesticated.

c) Display of Valor, show casing strength, way to channelize the additional useless youths energy (Instead of venting out energy on a useless antisocial activities, bulls seems to be a better choice)

You may ask how about fighting Lion /Tiger it might give even tough competition, - Yes definitely. But unfortunately it's not domesticated enough, and at the end of the day the person needs to survive, become better person and live/defend to see the safety of family/child/community/country.

The idea is not be become food/dead, but become better in strength, so that you can defend your loved ones/community/Country.

That is how tradition evolves, to see a greater good even at the some cost. The cost is pain from both sides and we accept it. If we are scared to pay this small price and don't see a larger picture, you will pay heavier price.

Our forefathers are not stupid, they have put the checks and balances in place in the name of tradition, it's only the "Half Baked Ones" think we are well educated and know everything, and preach there untested theories.

Already we are paying heavy in the name of western culture. We continue to move away from our tradition without understanding the value it brings, we will see more inequality, injustice in the system.

Rules followed in Jallikattu :

1. The main topic or the point that is advocated against "jallikattu" is the "cruelty" that is getting unleashed on the bull.

-Remember the pain is on both sides

2.Then they will say, "you humans are going on your own will, so u pay for ur deeds but y the "non-Vocal" animals? They are not happy with it..."

- Point taken. The main rule in Jallikattu is if there is any blood wound happened to the bull, the whole competition should be stopped at that place at that point itself. But that is not the case for the "vocal" humans.

- Also, it is not like the bull play that happens in "Spain". No weapons should be used on the animals. The sharp horned bull should be tamed only with the bare hands.

-The minute the bull crosses the line without getting tamed it is declared as win. There is equal chance of the bull getting succeed, unlike the other form of foreign games where the game will get finish only when the bull is dead.

- There are so many instances where human lives have lost but you cannot say the same thing for animals... So, yes in our "Jallikattu" Inequality is equal on both sides.

We are also not happy with these "foreign" references and we don't want to hide behind those references. But we are compelled to show the difference, then only we can highlight that "jallikattu" is being targeted and the ban is purely for the politics behind it.

We have our down side.. The rules may not be followed somewhere.. Animals would have got tortured in some places..We are not denying it or turning blind eyes to it...

Apply strong restrictions, laws and punish severely those who don't follow...We will follow every order of the government and the court with our bowed down heads. but...

DO NOT BAN IT TOTALLY...

Even after all these , if some people are emphasizing on the point that animals are not "happy", then I highly doubt about the animal's mindset when they are slaughtered for food, leather.

Even I don't understand animal's language I am pretty sure they won't be happy. No one will die without non- veg food and no one will die without leather jackets, shoes or bags..On any day the number of animals slaughtered for these purpose will trump the number of animals getting "tortured" in this game...

So a mistake is the fitting reply for a greater sin...?

NO..

but we are questioning the need for targeting us alone and the politics behind it..Where were the intellectuals who returned there awards when there was a protest regarding the beef ban...At that time they told that government cannot interfere in these things and India is becoming "intolerant" and even the animal lovers were silent at that time..

100% agreed...Government has no say in our food menu...that is not their job..But..

Why those intellectuals are silent now...

Why silent when a particular culture is getting banned totally...

Why because no specific religion or caste is involved in this and they cannot have any political or monetary gain by involving in this petty matter...

Or because the incentive given by the corporate which wants to destroy the nature cultivation and enters into Hybrid milk business is too heavy that they are unable to lift a finger against it let alone support...

Or is it because the political parties behind those intellectuals know that they will not have a strong foot hold on Tamilnadu in the near future and don't want to spend their energy on this non lucrative state...

POLITICS INVOLVED :

If we have to talk about the politics involved, it will be a non ending topic...In simple terms they want their hybrid products to be marketed well and for that they have to end the local breeds..This is their business...we also do business only but it involves our local farmers and the life our local breeds which are tightly coupled...

And on any day I will support my local men only over the corporates..Call it selfish or any name...

WHY NOW:

The frequent question thrown on us- Why now? why for this cause alone? There are so many burning problems more than this..What they will achieve?

A tree receives thousand cuts before falling...if any one considers that the fall was because of that last cut..then it is utter dumbness...we cannot talk back to fools...

Our patience were tested time and again..we were silent hoping that government or our representatives will be fair to us and one day we will get justice...but one by one in all the matters we were left stranded...life of our farmers have become worse than hell that they started to think that death is more peaceful than this..

This particular "Ban" and the politics followed afterwards were the last nail on the coffin..Now things have gone beyond our patience...

We are not sure where this protests by the youths and college students or the whole tamilnadu will take us...But we are happy that we have passed one message very clearly..

"WE WILL NOT LAY BACK WITHOUT A FIGHT"

Next time when the corporates and political parties thinking of using us, which I am sure they will definitely do should at least have apprehensions that this bunch of people will not sit back and watch but will bounce back.

SUPPORT EXPECTED:

We very well know that the matter is under "SubJudice" and the law will take its own course. But it will not solve the real problem. The real problem is something different and fight against that is much more important.

Two basic rules -

1. Corporate understands only one language - "Business".

2. Corporates are interconnected. If we touch one, it will resonate across with ripple effects.

So, If we hit where it will pain they will change their strategy..They are wise enough to analyse their balance sheet and if touching the lives and culture of farmers or a state comes under the "Liability" section then they will not dare to do it again...

Our only request is

"STOP DRINKING PEPSI/COKE OR ANY FORIEGN DRINKS"

atleast for a month. I am just quoting the above products as precedence. Include all possible items u can. There will be a big blow in their revenue.

I am working in a big MNC and we are requesting to not sell the above said products in our office premises. Do the same in your offices/ colleges. Or stop drinking it at least for a month. And it should be known to them that we have stopped using their products for this reason..So here comes the twitter trending...or any other social media sharing..But spread this..

#SAYNOTOPEPSICOKE #SAVEJALLIKATTU

It will definitely have a great impact..We will play their own game and defeat them...

YOUR SUPPORT IS VERY VERY IMPORTANT...EVERY TWEET, EVERY FORM OF SUPPORT COUNTS...

After all these if you are still not convinced with our reasoning and still think that "BAN ON JALLIKATTU ' is correct, we have a final message.

Rest assured, no matter what, our bulls which are raised by us will always be a part of our family and "WE LOVE THEM" and our fight to protect their race extinction will continue..

Note:

There was a national shame happened on Bangalore during the New Year celebration followed by some disgusting comments from some politicians. And there were so many opinions about INDIA from many NRI friends saying that "See this is India. Their mindset are so regressive and they are hypocrites". We wanted to say that at time itself that, there are low lives and scumbags are present in every society as a sorry excuse of a human being and they should not be taken as the representatives of a society. They should be castrated but never should they be taken as a testimony. But we could not do that.

Because the crime was so heinous that, keeping our head low and taking all the abuse that thrown on our way silently was the only the fitting punishment we gave ourselves.

But now, for the past 4 days all young girls and boys are there in many open spaces like "Marina beach" and even when the police switch off the power to make the crowd disburse. The young gentleman over there are acting as a protection wall with their mobile torch ON. Please surf in google about the most disciplined protest that have ever taken in the Indian history...

THIS IS THE REAL INDIA..THIS IS MY MEN...I AM A PROUD INDIAN AS MUCH AS A PROUD RICHLY

CULTURED TAMILIAN...

I am sure we will get back to our real identity and culture and our future generation will only be raised with this culture..We will raise our generation with the strength to destroy all those elements which dont know the basic rule of human existence - "Treating women with utmost respesct"

Hi Ambika,

I appreciate your initiative to start the thread.

I'm a proud tamilian too. I nor my family members will stop drinking the foreign companies drinks like Pepsi & Coke. I strongly condemn the members who are against our tradition.
