Success and performance are the two factors that make him the entertainer of this era. He is the people's choice and small screen's handpicked star. Karan Patel a.k.a Raman of Star Plus' popular Yeh Hai Mohabbatein talks exclusively with The Free Press Journal about success, challenges and more...
How has life evolved post marriage?
It's been brilliant. I think marriage was overrated but it's great to share life with someone.
With controversies surrounding you and affecting your personal life, how do you react to such controversies?
I feel lucky. When you become the centre of controversy it means that you are important and probably bigger than the other person, hence, you're being used to talk about. More the controversy, the bigger I get.
The stories in the daily soaps are relatable but the character representations in the daily soaps are not realistic, what is your take on the same?
As long as the actor is good and the conviction is conveyed to the audience, I don't think that grey hair or no grey hair matters. Given the fact that, Ye Hai Mohabbatein has been the number one show, I really don't need to explain anything much more than that.
As you are encompassed with many admirers, success and fame, what is the best thing to give it back to the society?
I think what I am doing is the best thing to give it back to the society. The people are so stressed in their lives today and if I can provide them little bit of relief every day then I think that's the best thing to do it. The one's who are jealous can take a different lane.
What dares you to bring the finest in you?
I think you need to challenge yourself to push yourself and do better than yesterday. I think only you can set benchmarks for yourself. I think the day you feel that you've outdone yourself, then it's just the beginning.
How does success shape you? Do you take success on your head?
I think success and performance are two different things altogether; they are not interrelated, to me at least. If I don't perform I can't be successful and if I am successful then I have to perform. I think they are two different aspects of a human being. As long as your head is on your shoulders and your feet on the ground then you are sorted.
