CHAPTER 3

Please just pass by pretending like you don't see me

Please don't even give me a glance

Just pass by, it has to be like that

Ishita cried out her heart, she longed so much to feel her raman but remembering each and single words he uttered for the past 4 years, it was totally shielding away her desire. "It's better you stay away ishita.." composing herself she tried to act normal. Slowly, she walked towards her class.

"Good morning teacher" a class of students greeted their favourite one, miss iyer. They are having the same fate like ishita, blind physically but their hearts are wide open, knowing the world better than the other perfect human being. As usual, they were doing their learning routine. Before having a break, one of the student requested ishita to tell a story since tomorrow will be a mother's day. Ishita just realized how precious it is going to be the day for the rest of the mother in the world but not for her, an officially tagged baanj.

"Okay kids, sit closer to me" replied ishita. She started to narrate a story:

"Once upon a time, there was a little girl, choti choti se, like all of you. She is so lonely, her mom passed away giving birth to her, she had a big brother whom the only one spending time playing with her."

"Papa kaha he?" asked one of the kid.

"Her papa is so busy working, he was so sad since his wife passed away. One day, while playing at the ground, that little girl had a fall, her knee bleed so much, her bhaiya panic seeing his sister in pain. Suddenly, there was a lady just coming back from her work came immediately helping that bechari little girl. She fall in love with that girl at first sight, she can't resist her cuteness. From that time, the three of them became good friends. The kids calling that aunty as doctor aunty because she was working as a dentist. They were getting closer and closer day by day.

One day, there was no one in the house of that little girl, she had fever and her brother panicked how to help her. He went immediately to the opposite house where the doctor aunty living. He asked for her help and they brought that little girl to hospital. Finally, her papa came to hospital along with her dada and dadi. They watched how much that aunty love the little girl. After getting much better, they brought choti girl home and not to forget thanking the doctor aunty. The little girl's family member realize that choti girl need a mom's love badly. They suggest her papa to marry doctor aunty, at first they refused but seeing poor choti girl, they agreed. Doctor aunty told that she was sick where god won't give her cute little kid, but the family member understood it.

They married but only on basis of their children's love, day by day all of them getting closer. The little girl and her brother were so happy being showered with mother's love.

One day, god was loving the little girl more thus he made that little girl as an angel in HIS paradise. Both of them had an accident, doctor aunty lost her little girl while her son lost his sight. Their papa become sad and angry thinking that doctor aunty caused everything, he punished doctor aunty by telling her to stay away from his family, he believed that doctor aunty only brought bad luck in their life.

"poor doctor aunty, my dada said good people bring a lot of happiness, that aunty is very nice na..she gave her love for both of kids." Commented one of the kid. Ishita smiled listening to the innocent comment.

That doctor aunty was so sad when her husband told her she brought only sadness and finally, she left the house and before that she gave a very big gift for her son and family.

"What gift?" asked them in unison.

A pair of vision.

"Where is that doctor aunty go?" asked the kid

She live alone now.

"Doesn't she miss her kids? My mumma will cry badly if she didn't see me for a day" claimed one of the student.

"She missed both of her angels in every single of breath. She really missed her rooh, her roohi. The one who made her felt the real meaning of motherhood. She badly missed her." Ishita finally ended the story with tears and small sob.

"Teacher, don't cry na, we can't see your tears but we know you are crying na, don't cry please.. We know it is so sad, but we believe both of her angels will pray for her from a far. We love you teacher." The students tried to sooth ishita.

She broke a smile and all of them having a group hug.

"I want to hug and give kissie to my mumma when I go home!" claimed excitedly by one of the kids which being followed by the others. They all left for a recess while ishita leaving to her room.

"What is this?" asked raman curiously towards the staff in ishita's office.

"Oh... mr bhalla, miss ishita will never miss doing that, the origami bird and paper stars' she claimed that her late little angel loved to do that before together with her, thus to feel her roohi is still with her, she will do the origami.

He thought how much ishita in love with their rooh but at last he accused her not fit to be the mother. Suddenly he saw ishita make an entry into the office, he went towards her. "I need to talk to you." Said him, without giving any chance, he grabbed her hand and dragged her along to the nearby park.

"Let me go mr raman bhalla, I don't have anything to say." Said ishita. "Realy?! For four years, don't you have anything to say, punish me, beat me, say something ishita! Please!" pleaded him. "Will it make any difference? Things had happened." Replied her. She finally broke the wall she build to protect her wounded heart.

"Your words is so fresh for me, I can replay it exactly the way you told me past 4 years. I'm a bad omen, a murderer and finally a baanj whom only know to take away everyone's happiness. What do you expect me to reply? You pointed out the defect I have for the rest of my life, I'm imperfect raman but you really plastered it in my soul that infertile like me won't bring any good if they exist in the world, they better stay away from any family and live alone in another part of world or in another word, they are better died. What do you want me to argue more raman? You broke every single hope and confident that I have that perhaps one day there is a space for me to feel the happiness of having family." She poured out all the frustration , agony, sorrow that she had for past 4 years.

Raman was glued to his spot, her words gave him a chill on his spine. He can't believe that he uttered that every single disgusting words, is it really him?? "Ishita, I did not mean to say those words, my anger and despair took control over me, please forgive me, give me a chance to heal you." He begged her.

"When you question my motherhood, I had no more reason to live, you proved that our relationship will always and forever stay on basis of children only. Ruhi had left us, thus there was no more relationship for us. But I'm trying the best to do my responsibility as a mother for my other love, adi. He deserved the happiness, thus I decided to give it back to him. I'm not a mother, yes you are right but I'm not a bad person, I won't let a kid suffered for the rest of his life." She continued to pour her heart out.

"Ishita, you are the real mother for them, infact they won't find any good mother like you if they search for the whole world. Please come back at least for adi even you really hate me." Said him helplessly.

"Raman, I lost all of my feeling on the day you told me everything, I can't hate neither love anyone else anymore. It is enough for me to know you and adi are doing well, just let me go, I begged you, that will be the best mother's day gift for me, set me free.."she begged him.

Hearing all of her words, raman felt defeated, he finally lost the precious person in his life not because god taken her away but it was his anger that took her away from him.

"I can forgive you raman, I can't carry the burden of hatred for the rest of my life, I do hope you and adi will lead a happy life, I know you are the best father he ever had, I will only stay here because I do believe my life was meant for something else, I was given a temporary happiness to be with a family because god know better for me. Take care and thank you for everything. I will wait the day I can met my rooh again, my roohi...will I meet her again?" she replied for the last time before leaving raman whom silently accepted his fate.

The thing I suddenly remembered was your smile
I keep trying to erase it but it just gets clearer
