When Raman goes to see Ishita in the hut after pushing her off the cliff, he says to her "Agar tum mar jaati, toh yeh Raman Raman nahi rehta, koi aur hi ban jaata"

And as you say, that is precisely what has happened. Raman ceased to exist the day Ishita died (or so he believes) - someone else took his place, but the man who masquerades as Raman is not our RKB Puttar. In order for Ishita's Raman to return, his Jhaansi ki Rani has to come back. And when she does, there will be fiery explosions that will consume this man, in order for Raman to arise from the ashes (ha ha, okay I'm starting to analyse here so I'm going to run away).

BTW I read in WU that there were Ishra flashbacks today. Dare I hope that this is a harbinger to Ishra coming face to face?

Now Raman and Ishita are both are in a place...where they merely breathe...everything is barren around them...Raman had called ishita barren...but when she left...his life became barren...

and so now they are like

Tujh Bin jogan, meri raatein

Tujh bin mere din banjare

Mera jeevan jalti dhooni

Bujhe bujhe mere sapne saare

Tere bina meri, mere bina teri

Yeh zindagi , zindagi na...

Tere bina bhi kya jeena...O saathi re...😕

When these two souls meet, Raman will first be shocked and happy to see her alive, then very next moment , he will hate her for leaving him...and then next minute..he will break down and cry and hug her tight...all emotions...in one scene...Ishita...will be barren no more...and Raman's life will be verdant again...
