Some of you might be surprised to me posting here after ages. I myself am surprised about the same 😆

I have gone off YHM like so many others, but as they say, old habits die hard, so I keep up with the show via written updates, sometimes online episodes, but mostly via live-updating friends who can't watch without sharing what happened and has been happening 😆 😆 (This is a silent shout-out to you know who ☺️ and I love you guys 😳 )

Coming back to the point, the surrogacy and bhoot saga irritated the crap out of me, but the current Sarika track has brought back some resemblance to vague images of old YHM. No, I'm not saying its the old YHM, but a few bits of logic or depth here and there, is the best that YHM 4.0 can hope to offer now.

Apprised of the current episodes, and being able to watch yesterday's episode gave rise to some thoughts, and after ages, I decided to pen down those thoughts in the form of another OS.

Some of you might understand what I'm trying to put across. I'd be looking forward to your comments. Some of you might not agree to the viewpoints or thought process mentioned below. I'd be more willing to read your comments, after all, it is this one forum which gave rise to a lot of healthy discussions.

Without further ado, presenting before you this piece of work. I'm not really proud of the writing, but then, my head and heart was so out of the show for such a long time that you can't really blame me 😛

1100+ words. Not proofread.

Dedicated specially to my madd girls - Anku, Anju, Kavya, Neets, Atii, Kiara, Ambs, Alu, Krishy and Sai

Toppling the scoreboard

She turned and tossed in the bed, only to hit a soft lump. She opened her eyes towards the high ceiling of this huge room, and looked around to find that soft lump lying next to her, happily waving his arms and legs in air, smiling and talking gibberish to himself, unaware of the turmoil that was gutting his mother's insides.

"His mother"

Was she even allowed to call herself his mother? Was she his mother? Sure, she hadn't given birth to this chubby little guy, but it felt like he belonged to her. It also felt like he belonged to, him. The thought of their child and how he came into their lives is something that takes her back to the dreary times when she felt all alone.

All the taunts and jibes that were thrown at her, the blames that fell on her mother, the hardships she had had to go through - all came floating back. Back then, she was broken, and to an extent, ashamed. It looked like she was failing in her life, until that one moment, until she met him, again. She realized she'd never fallen out of love with him, and she wanted to get back together.

How she ended up being all alone again is a completely different story though. Here she was, with the child, in this huge room, unable to sleep, while the owner of this room had been chucked elsewhere in the house, yet he seemed content. She used to respect him once, she hated him now, for he always mocked her state, made fun of her background, and punished her for the crimes she never committed alone. But he hated him more for standing by him, as a shield, protecting him, for anything that could go or did go bad in his life. He was a self-made man, he was not, and she was angry at him for not making him his shadow. She hated him also because of how settled he seemed in his life, with his re-instated wife, and how smug his wife was because she felt so secure in his love.

She wanted to be her, the one everyone now looked up to, the one everyone sought in this house, the one who got away even after creating the one of the biggest storms in this house. She wanted to be loved and respected equally well. In stead, she received doubts, taunts and indifference.

That was when she decided she'd had enough. She wanted to go a step further, to secure her emotional, physical and financial future. She knows the entire family loves this little child, even if they wouldn't admit it on the face. She has no other option but to use this love to her own selfish purpose.

She knows she's become evil, trying to play with the emotions of an otherwise lovely family and an innocent one's life. Lovely family, who gave her everything she ever wanted to, NOT. She got molested by their then son-in-law, pointed fingers at by the mother, her emotions played by their youngest playboy' son. He f*ing got her pregnant promising love and an eternal lifetime of togetherness, and then threw her out just like that, like she was a dead fly floating in his cup of tea. She was deemed as a characterless woman in the society because of him. She was struggling to make the ends meet when his brother, the man she earlier respected, tried to buy her self-esteem with his money. She lost her mother, she lost her unborn kid, she had to flee from an orthodox, conservative family to save her own life, all because of him and his family. True, she was a co-conspirator in whatever happened to her life, but her fault was putting her trust in the wrong people. She trusted him, he left her all alone. She trusted his brother, he tried to weigh her self-worth in dollar bills. She trusted her boss, his bhabhi, she, despite being a champion of women's rights, never went against her family to support her in any way.

And months later, when he suffered, when he received the biggest blow of his life, they all came crawling back to her, begging her to accept him, for she was carrying his only spawn. Nobody knows how humiliating it is for a woman to be weighed in gold for her womb and not her self. She was resolved to not let him affect her any more. But she to fear for her life, and that is when she decided to give in. He wanted her now, and he seemed genuine. His mother seemed to have acctepted her. It finally looked like she had her own family, all because of this little child. It seemed like a blessing in her life, so she vowed to herself that she will never reach the bottomless pit of misery that she had crawled out of; and this innocent one, he belonged to her, she might not feel it always, but she will always take care of him and his future.

But she was wrong. She was worth nothing in the family. She worried about her little family, her, him, and the little one, and he still seemed to have no care in the world, surviving still on his brother's income. She wanted him to be self-dependent, to be able to take care of her and their little one; but it didn't seem like he paid any heed. She wanted to study, and he approved of her decision. She felt so much in awe when he offered to help her with shortlisting of those colleges, but it was just a dream. She was living in a castle made of glass, which, when shattered only hurt her deeper than it ever had. She was a stranger in his life, in this home. She wanted to break away from being insignificant. That's when she made another big choice in her life, of conspiring with the enemy.

She knew then that if caught, it was going to change everything in her life, but she was ready. She was not always evil, she was made to be. Yesterday when she was reminded how the house help was a member of this family, but she wasn't, it hurt, and it hurt like hell. But no more. She wanted to now prove to everyone she was not insignificant, she had a being and an identity of her own self other than her ability to bear children. She was a hard-working, independent woman who could make her own fortune, but she was choosing to ride on theirs, to punish them for all the wrongs they had committed towards her.

She knows his brother and his wife are the pillars of this family and they'll try their level best to protect the family, but she's game. She knows their weaknesses, and she'll play them to her strengths.

Till today, Sarika 0 : Bhallas 5

The scorecard reverses, starting now.

Disclaimer (must read before commenting)

If you're still confused as to who was the protagonist of this one-shot (which I'm hope you're not 😛 ) - It is about Sarika, her point of view.

A lot of us have started hating her for being a bitch. But none of us have given a thought to why she is the way she is. She was not this gold-digging woman (from the way I perceived her character). She was a self-dependent, although poor, and had a lot of self-esteem, which is why she refused first when Romi came crawling back to her.

She, as a woman, has been used time and again by some member of this family or the other. She was molested by Param in a foreign land, her mom's life threatened if she spoke up. She was played with by Romi, and left in a ditch, from where it is more than difficult to come out of in a society such as ours. But she did. She decided to have her kid all alone, even when Vandu tried to coax her otherwise.

And when the family found out Romi could not father a child ever again, they came back to her. Completely disrespecting and insulting her existence, and valuing her only as the womb carrying the only child that could ever belong to Romi biologically. All this, coupled with a blood-thirsty family of her own who wanted to kill her for having a child after wedlock and deciding to raise it on her own, without a father or a family name.

It takes a lot of courage to go through whatever she's been through in her early life.

Even after her marriage, her primary concern was that Romi stand on his own two feet, that is able to take care of his little family on his own. I don't see anything wrong in that line of thought coming from a wife. Yes, she's always been more concerned by money, but that's because she has seen the worst days of her life. What did she get in return? Severe resistance by her mother-in-law and sometimes humiliation by her husband.

Do I agree with whatever she has done and whatever she is now doing? No.
Am I defending her? No.
But can I look through her past life and try to fathom the motive behind her actions? Yes.

All I'm trying to say is, as a woman, I sympathise with Sarika much more than I sympathise with Simmi or Ishita, because they, at least had their families at every point in their life, while she was battling the ugly truths of the society all alone.

If you have a counter argument and want to discuss, you're more than welcome. If you want to bash, I'll just ignore, report and move on.

U r right about sarika POV
She bear a lot
And I had sympathy for her
But not now
Do u think whatever she did is right
Do u think when she attacked raman
When she gave poison to him
When she attacked adiru
When she hid that gun in ruhi bag
When she wanted to give poison to entire bhalla family except Romi and rohit
In all these time was she right
Sorry but I don't think

Hey there, thanks for commenting 😊

I never said what she did or is doing is right. I'm just trying to explore the thought process.

I already mentioned this in the disclaimer post.

Welcome back to where you belong Nids (creative writing world) 🤗 😆 I AM SO SO SO HAPPY to read something from you. I was low you know but now all good. And all thanks to you and our little discussion on WA 😆

but mostly via live-updating friends who can't watch without sharing what happened and has been happening 😆 😆 (This is a silent shout-out to you know who ☺️ and I love you guys 😳 )

^I am sure one of the people mentioned there is me? 😛😳 guilty as charged and I LOVE YOU BACK.

I love that you took up a concept like this and certainly because after long, something on the show... even though evil and vicious seems bought on reasonably and not just out of no where.

I am glad to read a different point, of a character less spoken and less dealt with. I was disappointed when the show didn't touch on the feelings Sarika went through and so now I am excited to watch a track, where none of her actions are justified but her journey from a normal simple girl to a scheming conspirator is relatable.

You've beautifully penned a piece which was not easy I KNOW because it deals with not pure black or white feelings, but grey ones. Sarika isn't all white and isn't all black. She was physically used by Romi, abandoned when she was pregnant and never treated with respect by most of his family. When they were bought to their knees by Romi's condition, they went crawling back to her which was distasteful and disgusting. And no woman deserves to be respected only for her womb. Losing her child, her mother and then running away from a orthodox and blood thirsty family is a nightmare. It's not wrong that she wants to secure herself or is scared of living the measly life she had been living and those feelings you've touched on bang on because I feel more for her now.

BUT like I said, its the way and the people she chose to get back at that I totally condemn. Raman, Adi and Ruhi... the whole family.. everyone was put at stake with her plans..And to punish so many innocent people for a fault that was just Romi's? Not done.

But this is such an amazing track to touch on and it was worth reading this point of view which made so much more sense than anything else on the show.

I LOVE reading anything you pen Nids and PLEASE PLEASE come up with something IshRa soon. 😳

Hi Nids,

Welcome back

Happy New year

Miss your reviews😭

You have beautifully penned Sarika thoughts. I didn't even find fault with her for attacking Raman because even though he supported her from her point of view he was degrading her it is difficult to go through life alone with all the difficulties she faced. The major fault lies with Romi and Mrs.Bhalla but even in family misunderstanding track I liked Sarika even though she instigated people against IshRa but their she only wanted respect for herself and her nuclear family but I lost all sympathy for her when she attacked Adi and Ruhi that is when she totally went from grey shade person to an evil person because no matter what circumstance she was in they were kids so I don't sympathies with her condition anymore or feel sorry for whatever she went through.

Now I only want her to be out of the house and their life and possibly jail sentence for harming kids(I know I am fool to hope the CV for a change will punish the culprit😆)

If you are watching do give reviews I miss it so much.

Thanks for the pm

How are you girl? Missed you so much and your posts too. Within few lines I figured out its about sarika... Yes from simple to scheming girl ... You've clearly explained her thought process .. Basically she wants security in her life.. Which I get .. But as you said the approach was very wrong... Are you watching these days? If yes do write at least your 2 cents on weekly scenes that stood out for you...thanks for the pm
