Call me pessimistic but majority of ILU are said to get in your pants.

I'm just so sad that they ruined such a good story.

For me, more than his incomplete love story, this makes more of a 2nd chances at Love plot. After that mad, unadulterated, unbiased love fails, how he manages to rise up again, and find love again, and make his life worth-while.

But just for the sake of story, I do get your point. And were not these characters etched so deeply into my brain, I'd have appreciated the novelty you're talking about. It would have made a brilliant story, given Shagun wasn't as half-assed and had some more substance.
