Shagun rushed inside to see Ruhi who was by then relaxing in the bed. She sighed a relief as she could see that her daughter is out of danger now. Raman was beside her. Lost in thoughts. He did not acknowledge her presence.
"Raman..." She touched his shoulder only to see his eyes moistened in tears.
She felt bad. She could not be there for Ruhi, beside him. As a doctor she worshipped her profession. Leaving behind her responsibilities and running to check on Ruhi was never in her thought or ethics. Only thing she could do was excuse. Though, it may seem lame for Raman, she believed that there are doctors in this hospital who'd take good care of her princess like she does to others. And, her prayers were always there for her beloveds.
"Sorry...I'd two surgeries...is she alright...?"
"Yeah...I feel so..." He said kissing Ruhi's cheek.
"Why this hospital? I don't understand why time and again you're coming to square one!" She threw her hands back in wonder. Trying her best to control her voice.
"Just shut up Shagun. Is this the place to discuss all these?" He hissed at her only to feel a tug at his hand thus pulled out by Shagun to a secluded place where they can fight.
"You know what Raman...I wouldn't have broached this topic but...I can't tolerate the fact that you and Ruhi are here where is your "ex-flame" is working." She said furiously.
"And for your information...She is always a flame for me. The one and only woman in my life. You should not forget that Shagun...And please stay away from my personal life." He bite back.
"Wow...great! But you and Ruhi are just mine. This is personal...means everything concerning you and Ruhi are just my matters...Keep that in mind Raman."
"Shagun you can't be a good mother for mine and Ishita's baby. You're fighting with me instead of taking care of Ruhi. How ridiculous!"
"Don't bring Ishita in our family matters Raman. I'm talking about US. Don't bring her name...it hurts! I'm Ruhi's mumma...I won't let anyone come in between me and Ruhi. Especially Ishita. Never...ever...That we'd already fixed. Don't you remember?"
"How will I forget...! You think Ruhi is the one who connects me to Ishita right? It is not Ruhi you mad woman. We're in love before Ruhi was born. We love each other a lot for no reason. So stop finding reasons to destroy our love. It won't ever happen. You can never win Shagun! You're ruining your own life by acting dumb!"
"Don't start your lecture Raman. I'm fed up of it. Your bhashan won't change the fact that you're mine. Ruhi is my daughter. I won't share you both with anyone else. You heard me right...Yeah...stop living in past Raman..."
"Why can't you just understand Shagun...I don't love you...I tried my best...but...I'm sorry...I failed...I'm living my life in guilt and regret...it's killing me...I beg you...just stop hurting me..."
"But...I...I just love you...I've faith in my love for you Raman...I've faith in my love! Because we're destiny! See...we're meant to be...or else...it wouldn't have happened..." She said holding his hand.
"Only If I could believe this...but...I'm sorry Shagun...I can't stop loving her...You're not her. No one can be her...It's just her... I'm sorry..." He cried hugging her.
The fury which was the base for their quarrel was nowhere there. Both of them were broken. By love. Shagun being in his arms was a different feeling. He did not feel the spark which he used to enjoy a lot in the past when Ishita's mere presence brought in him. What he shared with Shagun was friendship!
A friend with whom he can share anything and everything. He never considered her as his wife. Only if he could place her as one, he would not have told her every bit of his feelings for Ishita. She was that friend with whom he shared a tiny boundary which in the past six years he never did break or let her succeed in breaking!
On the other hand, Shagun was head over heals in love with this man who had already given up himself in the feet of Ishita Iyer. She woud feel jealous, angry and the emotions one cannot name. But, the thought of him being her husband was enough for her. The pride to be Mrs Shagun Raman Kumar Bhalla!
She would beat him playfully whenever he shares his moments with Ishita to her. She openly admits that she feels bad. But he never stops. Him stopping talking about Ishita means he forgot her. That was impossible! Whenever she tries to go close to him he woud just hug her and pat her back saying his signature words, 'cool down baby...Raman Bhalla will drink...but won't ever lose his senses!'
Failure! That was her, Shagun. As a wife...she was never a wife! Though, the woman in her was so possessive that she acted adamant to seperate Ishita from her daughter thinking that the child being with Ishita would play a magnetic action. That, Raman may go to Ishita. She became the mother of Ruhi for making sure that Raman stays with her only no matter what.
Ruhi was one month old then. A child who could not even taste her mother's milk for her heart's content! A child who don't know that her mother is someone else who used to cry for not being able to feed her baby. A child who was given love aplenty hence did not feel like she has a real mother...who somewhere is still crying...craving to spend some moments with her. As her mother!
Even after trying everything in her power, Raman still remained Ishita's Raman. She could not break them apart. She could not make a place in Raman's heart. Still...she continued to try her best.
Shagun is not an evil woman. A vamp who seperated two souls from uniting. No. She was not one. In fact, it was situations that made her act in this way. Mad in love...! Blind in love...! One can name it as one like. But she is not a psychopath. First it was a concern to fulfill her mother's wish. However, everything changed the day she got married to Raman. There begun a game. She felt betrayed by her own sister. She wanted to undo everything by moving on. Teaching a lesson to her sister who all along put her into this ditch. Of love and revenge!
Many times. Many times she tried to close the distance between her and Raman. She had shamelessly uttered in open to her husband about her needs. It was one such day that Raman revealed something which she could not understand then, but later.
"Stop trying me Shagun. Raman Bhalla was not a drunkard. He became one...because he want to be one. He drinks to remember something. To remember the beautiful day of his life. And...there is no one else...other than Ishita. Raman Bhalla never lose his sense when he is drunk...so...stop trying to enter my world Shagun. You can't. No one can." He hissed at her pushing her off of him.
They were standing there in each other's arms for a long time. They felt peace when they spat out their heart to each other. Their relationship was like that. Two friends who understands each other to the core. Two friends who knows the depth of each other's heart and mind. But the wife was so weak as she could never find her husband in her friend!
Breaking the hug she walked away leaving behind a teary Raman. He felt, because of him two lives are suffereing; Shagun and Ishita. He can undo one. But, the thought itself made him disgust himself. Accepting Shagun as his wife made him get angry on himself. He could not place her. Shagun was always a friend with whom he can't even think of sharing his bed. She was an angel who understand him a lot. He can't think of anything else other than keeping her as a precious pearl in his life.
He wanted to help her out to escape. Escape from this ditch where she is trapped. Her unconditional love for him which he till now failed to return. He could never blame her for acting like this. Because he himself is acting like her. For Ishita.
For a change he wanted to undo it. Maybe that would clear everything. Maybe him moving on with Shagun will change Ishita's decision to be single! But then, she being someone else's made him go jealous. Whenever he thinks of making a change, he would end up here. Ishita! Still, for a change, he wanted to let go of his love!
Shagun barged inside Ishita's consultancy only to see her talking with Dr Sachidev. She faked a smile at her and looked at Ishita as if asking her to make that lady go out of the room. Dr Sachidev stood up smiling at Shagun and gave a friendly hug to her.
"It's been after a long time that we're meeting Dr Shagun Bhalla..."
"Yeah...excuse me...I've to talk to Dr Iyer in person." She excused thus Dr Sachidev left the room.
Shagun turned to Ishita in anger once Dr Sachidev left the place. "Ms Ishita Iyer...you're so shameless! How can you still stalk Raman. Don't forget that he is my husband!" Shagun shouted at Ishita.
"Akka please...I don't want to talk about it." Ishita showed disinterest.
"Oh really...! But I want to put an end to all these shit! You stop following Raman. Please don't break my family if you truly love me." Shagun pleaded folding her hands.
"Enna akka...! It was just a coincidence that they are here. In fact, Raman didn't know that I'm working here. I'm running away...from everyone...from the past six years.. It's all because I love you. I left Raman for you because I love you more than anything in the world. Even I left my baby..for your happiness. I thought it will make you trust me. Akka please try to understand...I don't want to interfere in your life. I don't want to come back in to Raman's life. All I want is...you just be happy...and make Ruhi and Raman happy...Let me move on..." She cried hiding her face inher palms.
"Ishu...I'm sorry...see...I'm feeling restless...that's all...Akka always love you baba...but...I can't love you like I used to do..." Shagun said softly and left.
