always been loved by the online viewers and the TRP
audience. Its a unique show which is based on how a
man (Raman) who was ditched by his wife and a
woman (Ishita) who cannot conceive get married for
the sake of children and how they fall in love
eventually and live their life together.
The fans were always waiting to see Raman and
Ishita (IshRa) romance and also Ishita getting
pregnant and been taken care by Raman. Sadly, the
makers had planned for a cancer track and leap
which would separate IshRa. But due to fans protest,
makers decided to postpone the leap. Now there is
news that Shagun might become surrogate mother
for IshRa and this has clearly upset the fans because
this will butcher the basic concept of the show. Fans
are even trying to trend "NoSurrogateShagunTrack"
on twitter with hope the makers will scrap the track.
ET Team brings views of some of the fans of YHM
here.
Ankita shares...
Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, the very popular daily show
airing on Star Plus rose to success as a trend setter.
It was the first one after long to go beyond normal,
mundane stories and was known for its maturity in
content. Its highlight was nature versus nurture'. It
proved that a woman doesn't need to birth her child
biologically to be a mother. A mother is mother by
nurture, and sometimes more a mother than the one
who bore the baby in her womb. Ishita (Divyanka
Tripathi) who was shown to have medical
complications leading to infertility went onto become
a mother to Ruhi and Adi even though they weren't
her biological children.
The story showcased a journey of how these children
grew close to her and accepted her a mother over the
one who birthed them, Shagun (Anita
Hassannandani). This progressive thought was widely
appreciated and loved by the viewers who grew in
numbers because of the uniqueness in the story. But
in a news or buzz that comes as a great
disappointment to the fans. It's being said that
Shagun may be the surrogate mother to Ishita and
Raman's child in the coming track. This piece of
news has caused quite a stir amongst the followers
who are highly disgusted by the show's writers for
trying to bring in a twist that would just destroy the
basic concept of the show. Shagun has so far been a
negative character in the show, and has time and
again humiliated Ishita about her infertility, gloating
that the children she proudly calls her own can never
be Ishita's because they are hers by blood. By
showing Shagun bearing the third child too, what
kind of a message are the creatives trying to send
out?
The purpose of Ishita and Raman wanting a child has
always been shown as a chance for Ishita to
experience motherhood. And if she is unable to do so
then what is the need for them to go through
surrogacy, that too through Shagun. A woman who
cheated her husband, abandoned her children and
even put their life at risk to save her own will be
chosen to bear their child once again? The viewer's
uproar states how this would demean Ishita and
Raman as a couple and as parents, and would
destroy the core message of the show. It would be
one of the most nauseating, disgusting track ever
shown on Indian television.
Our question is. Why can't daily shows go far from
the routine measures to garner numbers and for once
try something different? Why can't the show be a
trend setter and pass a message? If Ishita cannot
ultimately bear a child, the show should proudly
convey how a woman is not just a mother when she
gives birth to a baby by her womb. Ishita is more a
mother to Ruhi and Adi than their own could ever be.
Indian television needs change, needs progression.
And the viewers would be happier if Yeh Hai
Mohabbatein who was part of this change continues
to do the same, instead of ruining the soul of the
show in the run for numbers.

Since a few days now the news of a supposed
"Surrogacy Track" is doing the rounds; much to Yeh
Hai Mohabbatein's loyal viewers' dismay!
Therefore, they have decided to protest using the
#NoSurrogateShagunTrack hashtag! They are giving
it their all and are hoping for the cancellation of this
absurd track which challenges the basic premises of
popular show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein known popularly
as YHM.
Coming to think of it; it's actually pretty asinine
that YHM CV's can even think of something as such.
For a show which has completed 500 + episodes
without going the EK route is now thought of being
butchered needlessly!
All we hope for is CV's get rid of their fascination for
the character of Shagun... she's a nightmare for
YHMians!
We Hope the makers listen to the viewers. Leave
your comments about the surrogacy track. Stay tuned
to ET for more exciting updates.
