So I shouldn't ever rant about the episode before I actually see it 😆 And I've realized how the written update doesn't give the entire picture to the episode.
After seeing the episode, my view regarding it has changed. Earlier I was disappointed but now, I think its quiet a feat that in its own subtle way YHM touched on a very important issue yesterday. The need of physical intimacy in a married couple/relationship.
After reading Ishita's words in the WU, it seemed that she didn't want to take the relation ahead or was okay by it not moving in that path. But after watching the episode, I totally get where Ishita comes from. What she told the doctor was what anyone would say in this position. After all IshRa haven't had the most normal relation have they? It took them ages to get over the dislike for each other, then took a lot more time to form the understanding, trust and friendship they have and all the more to realize and profess their love. So in all the drama in their life they skipped a few steps of a normal relation that any other ordinary couple wouldn't have.
Like you pointed out that whenever Raman has made an advance Ishita never backed out. She responded and she made sure he knew she was willing. But I think that the lack of interest of either in that sense needs a jolt. There is no doubt that Raman has dropped hints and tried many a times to get physically closer to Ishita but there's never been an open conversation about it, never been stated that they're going to be intimate because they desire each other. Whenever they talk, its about a baby. Honestly if that was repeatedly mentioned for a reason, I hope they do something about it now. Where they discuss how they desire each other and aren't going to take a step ahead merely for a baby but because their relation needs it. I for one kept thinking that they're just trying to get in baby talks because they can't mention a consummation in the literal sense. But if they could so boldly talk about it yesterday, they can obviously have a similar conversation for the couple.
Ishita needed a reality check. Yes relations need the love to be expressed in words, but they need to be expressed in other ways too. And just saying you love someone is not enough for an entire life time. It isn't like Ishita never thought of that, she obviously did. But the taunt by Shagun who is Raman's ex wife and knows him, his desires more personally will shake her up to be more of a woman than just a wife, daughter in law and mother.
Similarly Raman needs a jolt too. He's gone into a comfortable situation with Ishita and is okay with it. He desires her, there's no doubt about that either like there isn't about Ishita. He's made that obvious. But when he talks to her, he always mentions a child even though he doesn't mean he only wants her for a child. But he needs to tell her otherwise, especially now when she's going to be reeling under insecurities after Shagun's words and the incident at the party. Like Ishita was shaken up, tonight Raman will. He will see Ishita try and mould herself into something he hasn't ever expected out of her. And his insecurities of losing her would rise and make him territorial.
This is exactly what happens if a relation isn't complete in every sense. Insecurities do rise and the relation is questioned by the two people itself. It's not that the people involved do not trust the other but when you have baggage and it's rattled with, you tend to behave out of character, which is what both Ishita and Raman will.
Eventually this push is needed for them to come closer, say their every feeling out loud and express their love physically and not just verbally.
Lastly - I think that it's only Shagun whose words would affect Ishita and make her think in that direction. Had it been anyone else she wouldn't care because that someone wouldn't be her husband's ex-wife who knows him in a sense no one does. Although to be honest I can't connect to Shagun's goodness. I would have, had the change been shown. One day she was a guilty mother who still hated the woman who had it all (Ishita) and a few weeks later she's a saint who wants to bring happiness in the same woman's life? When and how did the change happen? I am okay with her saying what she did because it was needed. But why the change? I can't relate to it.
But I am glad I saw the episode, I could relate to it, found it very mature in a way and if this is how they'll approach the consummation I'll be happier. Waiting to see what jolt Raman is going to bear to push him forward now.
