There is no doubt that Ekta is an astute business-person. She has carved a name for her & Balaji, and arguably, single-handedly changed the face of TV in the late 90s. Even artistically, she does seem to have the right vision (I believe DT is talking about the initial narration of the story when the serial hadn't even started), she does know how to choose the right faces, build the story.
***Having said that, EK's priority is making money, and one cannot really fault her for it. But at this stage, she is in a position to make stories that are believable and fresh (she does have the power to commandeer change) and stay that way. So, I don't know what is stopping her from making 1 out of 10 stories a real one ? Unfortunately for me, I thought YHM was that 1.***EK is not, and was never the first person to invent the art/business of daily soaps, leaps, plastic surgeries, re-incarnations and so on and so forth. She just put them in the Indian context. In my opinion, she succeeded brilliantly as a business-person, but her artistic loyalty is nowhere close to being proud.
Completely agree with u, but If I go to KJO Movie- I expect mushy n teenage puppy love (even for adults) kind of stories, if I go to David Dhawan movies I expect mindless comedy, if I go to Rohit shetty movie I expect atleast one car will explode. 😛 Each of these movies have their unique fan base n EKTA's fan base is TRP audience who have been brain washed with her stories over the years.
