PART 6
"If I had a nickel for every time for every time a saw a concert from a construction truck, I'd be.."
Ishita hit his hand and forced a laugh out of her stomach, all the way through her throat.
They walked together, as Raman held her shoulder with his left hand. He at her and whispered in her ears, "Thank you"
Ishita looked at him, staring straight into his eyes, naturally asking a reason.
Raman replied to her silent question, "It was exquisite"
Ishita smiled and replied, "Don't thank me, Thank Bunty"
Raman, still looking at her, replied sarcastically, "Thank you Bunty"
They walked for a few more minutes. Silence created a beautiful and comfortable relation between them. They could speak a lot without even a word coming out of their mouth.
Finally Ishita spoke up, "Hey, I got you book"
The paused. Raman let go of her. They stood facing each other.
Ishita looked down and then stared back into his eyes and said, "I'm halfway through it"
Raman - Really?
After a few seconds of silence, Raman spoke up again, "well, wait till you get to the recipe chapters. They're top notch". He smiled when he delivered the suggestion. '
Ishita looked at him and smiled back.
They resumed their walk.
Ishita - I'm sorry about your wife.
Raman looked at her.
Ishita continued, "How come you didn't tell me that's what happened?"
Raman looked down and replied to her, "I don't know. Never came up"
Ishita - Well, it sounded like you really loved her.
Raman - yeah I did.
Raman looked into ishit;a eyes and held her hand. He said, "But I think that was a long time ago"
Ishita - three years?
Raman smiled and replied back, "Twenty-one in dog years"
Ishita looked at Raman's hands that had hers in between them.
Raman - Hey, I had a really great time.
Ishita - Me too. It was fun.
They stared at each other for few seconds, when Ishita walked closer to him. she leaned on his chest and placed a soft kiss on his cheeks.
Raman kept glaring into her eyes, even after she was done kissing him.
Ishita - What?
Raman smiled wickedly and replied, "I'm waiting to watch you strut back to bitching rig."
She grinned and said, " All right"
She waved at her and her replied her saying, "bye"
And Raman watched her walk away and smiled without clueless.
NEXT DAY
Ishita walked into this clinic humming the well known song "ang lagade Rey", with a hand full of files in her hand.
The receptionist wished her, "good morning ma'am"
Ishita smiled and waved at her saying, "hello", stressing on the last letter of the word, that's "O" and prolonged it for a second, a clear indication of her being happy. The receptionist gave her an unusual look and out of curiosity he landed up asking, "Is there anything special today ma'am? You look happy"
Ishita smiled back saying, "Nope, just another happy day"
The receptionist smiled and said, "Okay. Mihika Ma'am is waiting for you in your cabin"
On hearing her sisters name, Ishita bite her tongue and said and nodded. She knew why Mihika had landed up in her office early in the morning.
She murmured to herself, "be prepared for the questionnaire"
She walked through the corridor, entering her cabin, still humming the passionate and romantic song.
Mihika looked at her when she entered the room. She raised one of her eyebrows and without wasting a single second she landed up questioning her, "Is that the international song for got laid?"
Ishita didn't even bother to look at her sister. He stared at her files, which she had held wrongly, upside down. She replied her saying, "No hardly"
Mihika walked to her and settled the files correctly in her hand. Ishita bit her tongue and looked at her. Mihika continued, "Come on, throw me a bone. What happened last night?"
Ishita - It was fun
Mihika - So you're going to see him again?
Ishita - I don't know. Maybe
Mihika stared at her sister for few seconds, while she smiled from the edge of her lips.
She continued, "May I just point out that you broke up with Subbu 72 hours ago and now you're dating some other guy who's not even gonna be in town for 72 hours? Ishita looked up. She had a frown up on her face.
Ishita - Okay, We're... We're not dating. We just met, and you know...
She paused there for a second and continued, "I like him. We're... hanging out"
Mihika took a sigh, rotating her head in 360 degrees and said, "Huh! Just be careful. Men.. are hairy". Saying so, she walked away.
Ishita pressed her lips and said, "thank you for that", and banged her files hard on the table.
HOTEL
Raman walked out of his room, swinging his arm in the air, apparently a signature step of people being happy. He walked through the corridor, passing by the painting where he and Ishita had first met. He stopped there and stared at it for few seconds. And then the thought struck him. He smiled and without wasting anytime, walked to the painting just next to it. He lifted it up by a few centimeters for search if she had written anything like the previous time. But He couldn't figure out any such unusual word. He walked to the painting next to it and repeated the same, but was disappointed again. He continued doing the same with all the paintings hung on the walls of the corridor. The was one, hung right behind the sofa. Unable to find a way, he jumped on the sofa, and lifted it up, only to get his heart out in his palm seeing the lizard that dived on the sofa and crawled away. He sat on the sofa sighing at his innumerous attempts that only met failure. While he did so, he saw a small boy staring at him and Raman acted to be normal and sophisticated as he looked in the three piece black suite. Probably the boy had freaked out seeing a man of 30 standing on the sofa, peeking behind the hotel painting, and he ran away.
Raman sighed again and decided to take the lfit, as he was hell tired searching for Ishita's weird words behind the paintings.
While he walked to the elevator, he noticed another painting, hung above a flower vase. His gut instinct pulled him towards it. He lifted the painting up and there it was, "POPPYSMIC"
Raman looked up and smiled gladly, like he was satisfied.
He walked down to the library straight away, and caught hold of the dictionary.
"POPPYSMIC - The sound produced by smacking one's lips" , That is what it read.
Raman looked up and thought for a while. He then tried producing the sound as instructed in the dictionary. The lady in the billing counter stared at him, narrowing her eyes. Raman looked at her and grinned. He placed the dictionary back in the shelf and smiled back at her.
CLINIC
Ishita was working on her laptop, preparing for a seminar which was to be held the next week. That when he received a mail. It was from a mail address named, rkb@gmail.com . He opened it and it read. "POPPYSMIC" in bolds.
Her eyes widened when he read the word. She looked up and smiled and eventually laughing out loud.
She typed back, "Impressive. How did you get my e-mail?"
To which Raman replied, "There's a lot more to know"
CONFERENCE ROOM
Pathak and the board members waited for Raman to come.
Pathak looked at their impatient glare and he assured them saying, "He'll be here anytime"
While they kept waiting, Raman had his plans done with Ishita.
