CHAPTER SEVENTY

'That was one amazing dinner, slightly awkward but amazing...'' Said Abhimanyu as he and Raman made their way to the pool

'Yeah... your Sister does know how to grill someone without even saying a thing...'' Said Raman

'Yeah hahahahaha Sorry man you're in the dog house tonight...'' Said Abhimanyu

'Tell me about it...'' Answered Raman as he sat down looking at Mihika and Ishita who were seated at the balcony

'Okay this is a very beautiful view...'' Said Mihika

'Yeah I know... Imagine waking up here in the morning and watching the sun set, it is beautiful...'' Said Ishita

'Hhhmmm...'' answered Mihika in an absent minded way causing Ishita to look at her and she could see that they were talking about two different things as Mihika was looking at the pool side

'He is quite gorgeous isn't it...'' Said Ishita smiling

'Yeah he is...'' Said Mihika before realizing what she had said and backtracked

'Yeah Raman is really cute...'' She added causing Ishita to throw back her head laughing

'Your hopeless I swear...'' Ishita said

Abhimanyu and Raman both turned to look at them and they both had a grin on their faces being thankful that they got to have such amazing women in their lives. Raman turned to Abhimanyu and looked at him and he could see the way he was looking at Mihika was the way he himself would otherwise look at Ishita

'Why don't you just tell her yaar...'' Said Raman

'What... Tell who what...'' Said Abhimanyu

'Seriously it is not a secret anymore... You can't take your eyes off her.'' Said Raman chuckling

'Wha... I don't ... Arrgghhh ...'' Said Abhimanyu who figured it was useless to pretend knowing how hard he found it to keep it together now because she was always there with him

'Is it that obvious?'' he asked

'Yes... I can't believe she doesn't see it...'' Said Raman chuckling again

'Yeah tell me about it...'' Said Abhimanyu

'You know these Iyer girls are very stubborn... You need to force it... Force her to tell you how she feels about you...tempt her into telling you or at least tell her you're open to the idea... '' Said Raman

'Yeah but I don't want to screw up my relationship with her, you know... She is very important in my life, I can't imagine it without her...'' He said

'Well you should be telling her all these things not me. Just take her someplace nice, quiet, romantic and just lay it all out. If it back fires at least you tried. Otherwise seeing you like this all miserable is painful. You looking at something you want and yet you're not willing to go get it...'' Said Raman to which Abhimanyu agreed that whatever he was saying made sense although it scared the crap out of him

'I can't believe I am getting relationship advice from you...'' Said Abhimanyu

'Hey I managed to get Ishita to love me... That was not easy...'' Said Raman chest up as he was bursting with pride

'Oh please your kids take credit for half of that. Once she fell in love with them it was only a matter of time...'' Said Abhimanyu

'Yeah well whose product are they...'' Said Raman throwing his head back as they both began to laugh

Mihika watched from the balcony as Abhimanyu laughed and she felt a sense of warmth creep up her heart. Sometimes it didn't make sense how even when he just smiled she felt happy and content. It was Abhimanyu, how is it possible that she felt this way, it didn't make sense.

Ishita looked at her as she kept on smiling alone like an idiot and realized that her sister had started having feeling for Abhimanyu, finally.

'Ishu can I ask you something...'' Said Mihika

'Yeah sure...'' Said Ishita

'How did you feel the first time you realized you may like Raman...'' Said Mihika

'Well... Uhh... It was always there but I just ignored it because it was the right thing to do as he and I were never going to work because of obvious reasons. But then he kissed me... Right here on this balcony, I will never forget that, and I realized that I was in love with him all this while...'' Answered Ishita her eyes teary as she smiled remembering that moment before she turned to Mihika and added

'Why do you ask...''

'So you mean he has to kiss me first...'' Said Mihika

'You kiss him... He kisses you... Doesn't matter... Besides if you're thinking about kissing Abhimanyu, you already like him...'' Said Ishita causing Mihika to turn and look at her saying

'What... I never said anything about Abhimanyu.'' Said Mihika

'Yeah that isn't a secret anymore, look at your face. He is sitting way over there not even looking at you and your way over here blushing like it's your wedding night. It doesn't need a genius to figure it out, except you, who is in denial...'' Said Ishita chuckling at her sister's reaction who looked like she had just been caught

'Ishu what is happening to me. This is Abhimanyu we are talking about, Abhi... I can't possibly be in love with Abhi...'' Said Mihika

'Why not... What is so bad that it can't be a possibility...'' Said Ishita

'How can that be? I have known him all my life how come all these so called feelings never really came up. It doesn't make sense...'' said Mihika

'Why do things always have to make sense for you? Besides you have always like him but just pretended not to all this time...'' Said Ishita

'No I didn't...'' Said Mihika defensively

'Oh really... Let us back track a little shall we...'' Said Ishita

'Okay lets...'' Said Mihika

'The day we found out he was leaving home and was to go back to his parents, you remember that... You cried so hard and refused to eat for days...'' Said Ishita

'Yeah well so did you...'' Said Mihika

'Oh honey... Do I look like the kind who would forgo a meal...'' Said Ishita causing Mihika to chuckle

'He stayed an extra year just to make sure he you were okay before he left...'' Said Ishita

'Ishu stop lying, he left because he wanted to make sure you were okay after everything...'' Said Mihika

'Oh Mihika... I left for Goa a few weeks after that... You still think he stayed for me?'' Said Ishita making Mihika sit back and think

'How about the day you realized he was dating that model he came back with from abroad. You wouldn't talk to him for months, and correct me if am wrong but I believe you two reconciled after he broke up with her'' Said Ishita

'She is ill-mannered and uncivilized...'' Said Mihika defensively

'Mihika please... Okay how about the time he got a cold and he was all alone in Mumbai. You left everything and went to take care of him forgetting you had a boyfriend then...'' Said Ishita but this time Mihika just let quiet before she whispered

'It was the right thing to do, he wasn't doing well...''

'Okay how do you explain you and Mihir...'' said Ishita

'What about me and Mihir'' Said Mihika

'If you think you feel nothing for him then why did you break up with Mihir for him and also lie to him about it...'' Said Ishita

'I didn't break up for him, Mihir was being childish plus no one talks about my family like that...'' Said Mihika

'This had nothing to do with family and you know it. Mihir just said what he thought and you got cross and broke up...'' Said Ishita

'You didn't hear him talk about Abhi. He said that Abhi was using your situation to get close to me, telling me that Abhimanyu was not a good person and that he didn't want me to spend time with him anymore. Who the hell does he think to talk about him like that?'' Said Mihika letting out a laugh before she added

'He asked me to choose between him and Abhimanyu. What did he think I would do, just ignore Abhi, he is family... Mihir asked me to choose and I did''

'Mihika you and I both know he is much more than just family to you. No matter how much you ignore it, it won't change the fact.'' Said Ishita looking at her sister as she added

'You see that warm feeling you have when he smiles at you or how restless you are when you take a while without seeing him, or the way his laugh seems like heavenly music, or the way you laugh at his jokes when everyone else doesn't seem to find them funny, or the way you tear up when he hurts, or the way his voice brings you a sense of calm... That is the feeling when you in love...''

Mihika looked at Abhimanyu as she imagined everything Ishita was saying and started realizing that it may just have been true, but how could it be that she had loved him and not known. She watched as he threw his head back laughing with Raman and tears filled her eyes... She took her hands and touched her face as a lone tear streamed down her face

'Why am I crying...'' she said sniffing to which Ishita chuckled answering

'Don't worry... You will get used to it...''

'Ishu I don't ...'' She tried to talk but Ishita interrupted saying

'Just let it be and have an open mind. You will know when it is right... Just leave your heart open to it. Don't force it...'' Said Ishita

Abhimanyu looked up and could sense something was a bit off, he was not sure if his eyes were playing tricks on him or it was him just being a tad over caring

'Hey Does she look to you like she is crying...'' he said

'Who are we talking about...'' Said Raman looking up

'Mihika does she...'' Abhimanyu added before Raman said

'Oh My God dude...''

'What... As if you don't worry about Ishu like that. ' said Abhimanyu defensively

'Okay sorry... She seems fine to me from her but let us do this...'' He said as he sat up and put his drink down shouting

'Mihika...'' causing the ladies at the balcony to look down

'Are you crazy... Do you know what time it is...'' Said Abhimanyu but Raman just smiled and signaled to Mihika to come down as he said

'I want to spend time with my wife and you want to see if she is okay so...''

Mihika said her goodnight to Ishita and walked out going to the swimming pool area where Raman was

'Hey I just wanted to ask on a scale of 1 to 10 how pissed is she with me...'' Raman asked

'With 10 being the maximum...'' Said Mihika to which Raman nodded

'Well I'll say at about an 8.5...'' She answered

'Crap... Wish me luck...'' he said as he got up from the seat and walked leaving Mihika and Abhimanyu by the poolside

'Hey Abhimanyu...'' he called out as he walked away

'Yeah...'' Abhimanyu answered

'Your welcome...'' he said smilingly before he walked away

'What was that all about?'' asked Mihika

'Uhh nothing... Raman and his antics...'' he said being defensively as he took his seat

'Come one sit down and talk to me...'' he added as she grabbed her hand and tried to pull her down and she pulled away

'Whoa what did I do...'' he asked putting his hands up

'Nothing...'' she said as she sat down

'Anyway like I was saying... I was thinking maybe we should organize this romantic...'' he tried to talk but she interrupted saying

'I am not doing anything romantic related with you...'' causing Abhimanyu to look at her with a curious expression on his face before he added

'I was talking about Ishita and Raman... I was thinking of doing something nice for them as they deserve it and Raman so needs this...''

'Right...'' she answered embarrassed but he ignored as he came and sat next to her just to be sure that what he was thinking was the truth and when he got close to her she moved away and when he tried to hold her hand she got up and sat up from the pool taking one of the seats

There was an awkward silence for a moment because Abhimanyu had noticed something was a bit off with Mihika and he didn't know whetherto push it and ask or leave her alone because if she wanted to share she would have.

Mihika was all of a sudden a bit scared of being around him. Not in a weird awkward way but in was that she was scared he might find out something about her that she wasn't willing to reveal yet. She took a seat by the pool avoiding his eyes and also careful to see there was a distance between them and when he came and sat close to her, she felt butterflies in her stomach that were not there before as she smelled his musky scent that all of a sudden made her body tingle and she cursed under her breathe

'Dammit Ishu you put this in my head...'' She whispered

Raman made his way upstairs and joined Ishita on the balcony standing next to Ishita as he watched the drama that was happening by the pool side

'Mihika is everything alright...'' Asked Abhimanyu

'Yeah... Why...'' she said gathering all her strength before she turned and looked at him

'Then why do I feel like I have done something bad...'' He added

'Nothing is the matter... You worry too much...'' she said trying to act calm

'Do I? Then why do I get the feeling that you're so uncomfortable around me all of a sudden...'' Said Abhimanyu

'What... No I am not? Why would you even think that...'' She said stammering and unfortunately Abhimanyu would see right through it

'Okay even you can't possibly believe that. Tell me maybe I can help fix whatever is bothering you'' he said

'Why would you think I want you to fix anything...'' She answered carelessly Abhimanyu mistaking it for her being rude

'I am sorry I just wanted to help...'' He answered as he got up walked away feeling like he wasn't really needed here

'Abhi... Wai... Abh...'' she tried to call him back but he just walked away
