She is either a married woman named Archana or is she a prostitute named Kanchan.

been a while since i saw it but jaya is trying to woo sanjeev kumar.
it also has this amazing kishore song
teri bheegi bheegi si palkon pe reh gaye ..

watch it i know i loved it when i did

OK I think in this movie, Jaya has amnesia and pretends to be Sanjeev's wife and HE FALLS FOR HER

She has a husband tucked away someplace that later shows up to claim her. SO Heart wrenching. Sanjeev Kumar like Naseer can emote brilliantly, this movie did not have ONE dirty scene but u can tell from the way Sanjeev just LOOKS at her, about whats on his mind. It used to be Doordarshan's favorite Sunday evening movie for a while, along with those ones of Jeetendra, Joy Mukherjee, Shammi Kapoor in skinny white pants and shoes. Sunday evenings would be a altogether different story until Reality TV and Ekta ruined it for all of us
Now we watch smelly unshaven sweaty people having sex inside a cardboard box they call it big boss and Ekta's heroines going to bed wearing sarees that would make Egyptian Mummies sit up.

Yep! I am furthering my agenda!!

Ditto!
I watched YHM after my break from hindi TV. I watch most movies but no desi serials. I felt I was cheated when the direction of the show changed. It made me feel silly that I invested so much time in that crap.(pardon my langauge). I wonder when will Indian TV mature? DD was so way advanced in its stories and its characters that they are still in my mind, whether it was Udan,Framan, Tenali Rama, Chanakya, Malgudi Days and so many more.

And then Ekta will say "THIS is what people want.".. its really sad actually

I just want my TV returned... intact... even the best today is no match for the mediocre of 1970s & 1980s. The "K" catastrophe ruined it all. I STILL hear people play Doordarshan all the time in their homes in Delhi in my parents' complex, you know... the news is precise and crisp, there is no associated melodrama, no over use of technology or holograms, the afternoon soaps are mild and mellow, shot inside the Parliament Street Doordarshan studios u know... unpretentious, full of character... like watching a Rangmanch play at NSD

New is not necessarily better, Ekta has proved that over and over again. :(
