Thank you for the lovely comments and for taking the time to read.

I am just writing the wedding chapters now, and am trying to incorporate some customs, but I know NOTHING about Tamil and Punjabi wedding customs. Is a kanyadaan called a kanyadaan in Tamil, or something else? And who puts on the Chooda for punjabi brides? Do they put on haldi like they do in North Indian weddings? And what do Tamil Iyer brides traditionally wear? Neet had mentioned some 12 yard sari or something in her FF. Anything else I should know?

Would love it if someone can help.

Thank you so much
Vee

Vee, in tamil it is kanyadanam. The girl sits in her dad's lap while the guy stands opp to them and ties the thirumangalyam- yellow sacred thread with a gold M shaped pendant bought by the boys side aka mangalsutra in her neck. He puts one knot and his sister stands behind the girl's dad and puts two more knots completing 3 knots.
Throughout the ceremony the priest recites mantras and the background music is nadaswaram(like shehnai) and mrundangam(dholak) played by musicians from the side of the marriage stage. When the thread is about to be tied, the priest recites a special mantra and signals the musicians to increase their tempo. The verse is
"Mangalyam tantunanena mama jeevana hetuna kanthe badhnami subhage twam jeeva sarada satam"

After that they do pheras around the homam(fire) holding each other's hand and after they put the silver toe ring on the girls second toe on both legs.

Girl wears 9 yards saree (normal saree is 6 yards). This one which is generally maroon in color with gold border has a lil bit of leg show which looks very sexy.
Boy wears cream color 9 yards cotton veshti (dhothi) with gold zari border.

If u need more details on the 2 and half day (not kidding) marriage procedures, google tamil iyer wedding rituals where Wikipedia can elaborate. Msg if u need anything else.

Bala grilled RKB ... chalo accha hai, even Super -CEO RKB needs to go through oneIn-laws' hazing. Itna toh banta hai 😆

And Bala's so right, Ishtia probably would've struggled to reject Abhi leading to major emotional blackmail from the entire family. Atleast now Bala can help the poor gal out when the time comes.

Thank you so much my friend. I can use some of this info now to make my story a little bit authentic. Two and half days, my lord, and I couldn't handle my sisters 30 minute Arya Samaji wedding ! 😆
