Could this be the reason why even Nisha is appearing offline...I wonder!

I remember a doctor cousin fighting tooth n nail with his parents to keep out the long list of his degrees from his wedding card and finally relenting to prefixing Dr to his name on the card. I guess you just can't take away all the bragging rights of Indian parents.

Poorna
ESPECIALLY those Iyer parents who have been battered by wealthy brothers/sisters along the way whose kids have gone to IIT and ended up in US or Australia.
For more than anybody else its to teach that "Athai" or that "Mama" a sound lesson that "even MY kids can have good things happen to them"

In Sam's case, it was part prank part payback for Chachu because the kids know Chachi has a low opinion of R&B's "capacity" to settle down in holy matrimony. I am not sure if the Punjabis brag on wedding/reception cards, its been a while since I saw a wedding card from them

I just threew it in there so Amma doesnt have to verbally clobber Mrs Vasan😃 she can read it for herself. Afterall its just a story...

She'd have devoured the remaining pages if she was online now, and you'd have had to begin another thread Nisha!

Hello everyone

So in Iyers weddings there are all that on the cards ? Or in all Indians weddings ? I don't understand. Here I don't go to weddings and the few cards i saw were the typical here. In Algeria when I was young there were no cards even today maybe just in big cities and rich families. Otherwise you go from house to house and invite (that's what I have understood till now) people and that should be parents who do it. You can do it over phone when people are far but it has to be personnally done.

I discover a new culture and traditions. I really love that. Learning about others traditions and culture it is always so interesting and some things are really beautiful and extraordinary ( for me)

Thank you for sharing Adlin. Thats how it used to be in India too I bet even 60-100 years ago, the wealthy are more insecure they have an image to maintain, the middle class is caught between the wealthy and poor unable to make a pick, the poor obviously dont have resources to even conduct a wedding in a marriage hall so they usually do it at temples or block the streets of where they live and host it right there.
